Hey Eric, after about 5 tries, I got the video paused at the picture and it took me a second but once I got it, I laughed. i'll bet your not the only one that has done that.
I love these videos and you are reaching your goal of helping people! Believe it or not you are helping us fix cars here in Rwanda. Thanks and keep up the GREAT work you are doing.
@gbmmben Very cool. My brother is heading to Tanzania in 2 weeks to help a small community there, he usually goes once a year. Thanks for the comment.
Hi, Eric, I know i can get help from You about car problem fixes. I have a problem with my 1994 Honda Civic EG hatchback. I changed a new rear glass wiper motor and at once faced a MUCH bigger problem - power windows, front window wipers, sunroof, window wash sprays ALL are gone. during changing rear wiper motor i touched +with - wires but just for milisecond. All fuses a good, no wires are burned. What is the problem? I am in big trouble if i dont fix it in a week ! =O =( please help
@Mazis22 Honestly I don't know especially if you checked ALL the fuses and didn't find any bad ones, it may be a control unit or something but your going to need a wiring diagram and some testing to find out. Next time don't leave the key on while you work as that circuit would not have been hot if the key was off. Good luck.
@MrBawston I'm actually an Acura master tech. I'm not going back for a number of reasons but at the top of the list is that I like being EricTheCarGuy more than working for a dealer.
EricTheCarGuy : I agree I have been working in the garage professionally for 15 plus years.By no means do I know everything you don't do everything rite but neither do I thats the reason I watch these videos learn easier ways cause sometimes its easier to learn from others mistakes. Then sometimes you learn you,ve been doing it the hard or wrong way. This is what I miss about working in a garage with other techs.Keep it up.
@freeclimber28 Me too, I subscribe to the same philosophy. I miss the some of guys I use to work with but not working in the business. Thanks for the great comment.
hey for the valve adjustment video, do the way the book do and with ur lob on the cam thing and u get best result. book said turn the crankshaft so that the up arrow is at 12, then at 9 , then at 6 then at 3. etc. very useful and more accurate but ur lobe is nice detail
@shodanxx Thanks for the sub! As for your unemployment I hope either you find a job soon or get more mechanical work to help pay the bills. Good luck and thanks for the comment.
@2010petrolhead Well so far it's been 2 years to the day since I had a "real job", I couldn't be happier, my life has done nothing but improve since then. Thanks for the comment.

@Mr71paul71 Sorry to hear about your job, that sucks. I'm happy to hear that I'm helping you get back on your feet as that is now MY new job and this kind of feedback makes all the difference for me. I wish you all the best. Thank you very much for taking the time to share and comment.
@sirjimis Thank you for saying that. I have to admit that what I went through was hard but ETCG has helped a lot of people through difficult times and I'm more proud of that than my most recent job working as a technician. Thanks again for the great comment.

@peelman1506 As a matter of fact I'm working on that video right now. It won't be posted to YT however, it's about 2.5 hours long at it's current edit. Thank you very much for that comment. Since I started I set out to help people in just the way you described. It's great to hear that I'm actually doing that, it means a lot. Thanks again.
I came across your YouTube channel yesterday and was so happy I did, you have a lot of very useful information in your videos, and i spent a good hour or so watching your videos yesterday. Keep it up, we got to learn somewhere and you passing on your knowledge really helps a lot. Thanks for going into detail and making things easier to understand in your videos.
Once a 1990 Honda Accord starts making mild to medium engine noise due to worn bearings (either main bearing or connecting rod bearing, I am not sure which), how long can you expect to drive it until it can't drive no more? The compression is good and there is plenty of power. You can barely here the noise while driving, buy you can definitely hear it standing in front of the car with the hood open. Wouldn't oil pressure go low with bearing wear? How bad exactly is low oil pressure?
I want to end up with a manual transmission vehicle. I understand the part about swaping flywheels, because the auto engine has to match the manual transmission. However, I don't understand why the PCM has to come over as well.
With a coil-on-plug assembly, if you measure voltage drop between the "ground terminal on the coil-on-plug assembly" and the negative terminal of the battery and you get 0.001 volts? Also there is 13.23 volts going into the coil-on-plug assemby. There is no spark. Does this mean the coil is bad?
The computer is going to supply the ground to fire the COP. Now ask yourself.. Why does the V6 Ranger have the platinum on the electrode on one bank and the platinum on the ground strap on the other bank. Hummm
bigblockmustang, maybe because it's a waste spark ignition system and one bank is fired in forward polarity and the other bank is fired in reverse polarity? But what does that have to do with my question about diagnosing a no spark on one cylinder with a C.O.P.? There is definitely battery voltage going into the COP, but the ground wire coming out of the COP reads 0.001 volts. Does this mean a bad coil?
@bigblockmustang The positive electrode on the spark plug gets worn, so it needs the platinum. On one bank, the positve electrode happens to be the center electrode. On the other bank, the positive electrode happens to be the "hook-like" thingy electrode.
Subscribed sometime last week. First video I watched was on drum brakes, really helpful. Then went on your channel and watched some of your other videos. Your videos are great, they make all the other auto how to videos look like shit. Keep making videos, I will be tuned in.
It's been a year already? Wow. Keep up the solid work. You're providing great info that many people either need or find interesting to learn. It's like a mini Discovery Channel episode with each video.
---
I have a similar motto at my Italian channel, still I get people complaining about one thing or another - people, the lessons are free...
Yea, people will complain no matter what. You know, it would be great to get a show on Discovery, perhaps then I would have enough money to come visit you and try some of that good food you make in your videos.
I will do my best to try and promote your videos, in fact my forum has received much help from your instruction and for that I'm sure they're greatful.
I hope you can put all things together especially the Videos (you intend to sell) most of us are waiting for. I am sure you'll be better than most because you show how it is done even to the point of having the coolant getting in your face, not just chit chat. Just stay patient and be humble all the time. The detractors will always be there to stop and discourage you. I am surprised you are really answering the questions of the subscribers and Fast response too.
Well you can learn just as much from mistakes as anything else. I also don't want people to think I'm perfect and know everything, truth is I'm still learning myself. I figure the more time I invest in my viewers the closer I am to my goal. Thanks for the comment.
I just found the following info that stoichiometry is different for different fuels. There is a BP gas station that I buy gasoline from that says their fuel is 10% ethanol. I assume that means it is E10. So I guess that means stoichiometry for my car is no longer 14.7 then. It is actually 13.8:1. Is that correct? But then how does my PCM even know enough to compensate for that? It's not like I pressed a switch on the dash to tell it.
That's what I set out to do, it's great to hear that it's worked out the way I had hoped. Thanks for the comment and your support. Stay dirty yourself.
I'd love to. For now ETGC videos are based on the cars that people bring me to be fixed. If I get one in I'll post whatever I can. Thanks for the comment.
I am unemployed now, and your videos have helped me several times already, I have been able to save some much needed money using your videos, we all know how much going to an auto dealer can cost, even for simple repairs. Oh and I really liked the tip on clearing your windows it really works.
ETGC was created just for you and others like you. I can't tell you how much it means to read this comment and know that I was able to help in some way. I hope you find work soon, if not, I'll do my best to keep you mobile.
I think everyone has gone though some shit at work at one time or another. I lost a really great job working for an airline out of Detroit, MI for almost 4 years then the attacks of 9/11 happened and then the mass layoffs started going out. Not to sound religious (cuz I'm not) when shit happens that's out of my control I resite the syrenity prayer in my head. If you know it, you know it to e true.
Very true. I hope things are better for you now. When that kind of thing happens you just have to let it go and move on no matter how hard it gets. ETCG is the best job I've had yet BTW, I think I'll keep it for a while. Thanks for the comment and your support.
I wish you good luck in the future with your channel. You are right they may be technicians that know more than you out there but most likely they couldn't put it into words or make teaching videos as you do. You are a great teacher. Keep up the good work. Rich
It does suck for sure, I'm hoping to make it a little easier for those that watch however. A broken car on top of unpaid bills is a real drag. Thanks for the comment and for the support.
I forgot how I stumbled across one of your videos, but then I checked out your whole channel and was even more impressed by it. Not only do you post really really helpful videos, but you even answer all the questions that the viewers have! I have learnt so much from your videos, and you've helped me alot with the extra questions I had, so thank YOU very much ETGC, and I really appreciate what you've done :) !!!
Yea, lots of us have been shafted at one time or another. I got fired because of something someone else did, no matter, life is better now that I work for you. Thanks for the comment.
Man **** those guys, there's much bigger and better things out there for you. You're a Mechanical Jedi and a great teacher! It won't be long before ETCG is a house hold name.
Thanks for that, the best part about my life now is that I don't work for them anymore, I work for you and others like you. I hope your vision comes true, that would be a great ending to this story.
Hey Eric, after about 5 tries, I got the video paused at the picture and it took me a second but once I got it, I laughed. i'll bet your not the only one that has done that.

Eric, I found a 1990 Accord LX (manual transmission) for sale with a bad engine.
Hey, I just happen to have a good engine sitting inside my 1990 Accord LX (automatic transmission).

Subscribed sometime last week. First video I watched was on drum brakes, really helpful. Then went on your channel and watched some of your other videos. Your videos are great, they make all the other auto how to videos look like shit. Keep making videos, I will be tuned in.

What type of lifters does my 1990 Civic have?
nobleheight 2 years ago
It doesn't really have any lifters but it would be considered a "solid" valvetrain.
EricTheCarGuy 2 years ago
Is there such an adjustment as a valve bridge adjustment or is that just a made up option for a multiple choice question?
nobleheight 2 years ago
Not sure, never heard of it.

It's been a year already? Wow. Keep up the solid work. You're providing great info that many people either need or find interesting to learn. It's like a mini Discovery Channel episode with each video.
---
I have a similar motto at my Italian channel, still I get people complaining about one thing or another - people, the lessons are free...
bowlingballout 2 years ago
Yea, people will complain no matter what. You know, it would be great to get a show on Discovery, perhaps then I would have enough money to come visit you and try some of that good food you make in your videos.
EricTheCarGuy 2 years ago
I will do my best to try and promote your videos, in fact my forum has received much help from your instruction and for that I'm sure they're greatful.

Awesome. Send me a link to the forum, I'd love to check it out.

hope you make some money like i saved some from you.
adcerites 2 years ago
I hope so too. If I do I can do a lot more of these.
EricTheCarGuy 2 years ago
I hope you can put all things together especially the Videos (you intend to sell) most of us are waiting for. I am sure you'll be better than most because you show how it is done even to the point of having the coolant getting in your face, not just chit chat. Just stay patient and be humble all the time. The detractors will always be there to stop and discourage you. I am surprised you are really answering the questions of the subscribers and Fast response too.
pokerchameleon 2 years ago

Gasoline=14.7:1
E10 = 13.8:1
E50 = 11.2:1
E85 = 9.6:1

I am unemployed now, and your videos have helped me several times already, I have been able to save some much needed money using your videos, we all know how much going to an auto dealer can cost, even for simple repairs. Oh and I really liked the tip on clearing your windows it really works.
Keep up the good work,
GREAT VIDEOS!!!!
Big fan.

Michiganborn1969 2 years ago

Rich

Thanks for saying that, it means a lot to know that what I set out to do is actually helping people.

You are a great teacher and I love watching your videos. I was unemployed for a year, shit SUCKS!!!
gjmvi 2 years ago
It does suck for sure, I'm hoping to make it a little easier for those that watch however. A broken car on top of unpaid bills is a real drag. Thanks for the comment and for the support.

I forgot how I stumbled across one of your videos, but then I checked out your whole channel and was even more impressed by it. Not only do you post really really helpful videos, but you even answer all the questions that the viewers have! I have learnt so much from your videos, and you've helped me alot with the extra questions I had, so thank YOU very much ETGC, and I really appreciate what you've done :) !!!
