  • @fraizer57 Go play in traffic, jerkhole.

  • Prince Philip fought in WWII, Prince Andrew fought in the Falklands War, Prince Harry fought In the current Afghan war. A memorable Norman king of England, rightly remembered as the Lionheart (Coeur de Lion), fought to liberate the Holy Land from the Saracen infidel. What have the detractors of the British monarchy ever accomplished? In which wars have they fought? Wellington & Marlborough were lionhearted soldiers and brilliant statesmen, whereas anglophobes are pussyhearted, envious, cowards.

  • @viriatoist I don't think you can really count the deeds of Richard I, since he was hardly English anyway. I think he spent about 8 months of his reign in England, and much of his life in France or the Levant.

Regarding the rest of them, I would expect absolutely no less, and the Royal Family knows it too. In exchange for the deference, the informal influence, the wealth, the social and political primacy, you are absolutely expected to serve in one way or another.

  • @viriatoist (reply 2) There have also been just as many feckless monarchs; the Royal Family was extremely lucky that the closet Nazi Edward VIII abdicated, and instead it was passed to Albert and thence to Elizabeth. To have such a long-lived, dedicated monarch, who is so well attuned to the rules of the game, has served Britain, or perhaps more accurately, the monarchy, very well.

  • @viriatoist (reply 3) What have detractors ever done? There are many republicans who are far more accomplished than you and most monarchists, and many who have served longer and in more difficulty circumstances in the military than members of the Royal Family do.

  • @viriatoist (reply 4) The only valid reason to value a hereditary head of state is if it is already in place, and the alternatives could be more trouble than they're worth. Deifying them is totally beneath the dignity of anyone who considers themself a free human being and British citizen.

  • @viriatoist (reply 6) The whole point of heredity is that they don't have to do anything to earn it; the heir could be a lazy, drug-addicted bohemian, and you would still owe them your allegience; it wouldn't make any difference. The crown is hereditary, not good or bad personal characteristics, otherwise the Saxe-Coburg Gothas would have been gone by the 1850s (and many people were seriously discussing an end to monarchy during the reigns of George IV and William IV)

  • As a citizen in Hong Kong, I love UK, I hate China

  • @magician226

I wish Hong Kong could come back!

  • @NorthernBoy2010 yes, best wishes!

  • @magician226 Ah I wish that Hong Kong could have become a Comanwelth Relm ) :

maby one day maby one day

  • @thebritish25 yeah, i hope so, so do many Hong Kong people here

  • @magician226

So do we all. We should at least have given you to Taiwan so you could be governed by a democracy.

  • @Myles0Harcourt it's 100% true that Hong Kong people would get along with Taiwanese better, at least the thoughts, the culture, the lifestyle are much compatible

  • @magician226

Are you afraid of what PRC might do to HK after the buffer period expires?

  • @Myles0Harcourt HK people are already suffering from the consequences now, let alone 2047, the so-called "one country two systems" is a scam. HK was much more democratic, liberal & just even though it was a British colony.

  • @magician226

All I am say is I am sorry for how my country abandoned you.

  • @Myles0Harcourt No need to say sorry about that, if HK people really have to blame, they should blame themselves for not stepping out to fight for independence

  • @magician226

We were the colonialists though. We had a responsibility to HK. It's a pity that the treaty didn't have a clause about a referendum in it.

  • @Myles0Harcourt

Democracy wasn't the main concern of the British and Sino at the time.

  • @magician226 hear hear! far far better off under british rule!

  • haha, i am canadian, but want to move to GB, we owe our existance to the queen, but soo many here forget that

  • I wish GB still owned all of the colonies, she would be something to fear once again!

  • I notice there was no call for "present arms" before the national anthem.

  • @4sm2use I think this is because it is more a service of remembrance, than a parade.

  • GSTQ we will remember them

  • GSTQ

  • A very Precious and Gracious QUEEN. All the best from Spain.

  • They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

    We will remember them

  • god save the queen

  • God Save the Queen

  • And God save all the cracked and nutty prelates and clergy of the Church of England with their tippits ("black scarves") and academic hoods who do their best..

A tough place to be nowadays.

It always brings a lump to my throat when I see Her Majesty blinking back tears at "God Save the Queen". She is in an even tougher and more lonely place.

  • we shall remember them

  • The Queen represents people, so by singing God save the Queen, we say God save the people!

  • @324wilson No sorry!!! the queen is merely a figurehead for one of the wealthiest imperal families on the globe!!! they have it so well sown up that people think they are just a monarchy with no power and that couldnt be further from the truth!!! No harm to you but god save the queen is one of the sickest anthems the planet over, and all this for queen and country stuff is just unbelievable, the way people lend themselves to some of the biggest criminal cartels begs belief... YOUR WRONG!!!

  • @illuminatzihunter Firstly, by using capital letters stating, "YOUR WRONG" doesn't mean that you are right. Secondly, it should be "YOU ARE WRONG." Thirdly, it seems as though you really believe in conspriracy theories - do so at your peril, don't waste my time with illuminati nonsense!

  • @illuminatzihunter The only sick is a sad mick who is rather pathetic, and knows it. Brendan Behan described you perfectly when he wrote "other people have nationalities, the irish have psychosis". Now go and hump someone elese leg mutley, you are really just an offensive little mick shit!

  • I like the Royal Family especially Charles.

I say that as a Scot, despite that verse etc etc etc....I would have no qualms about serving Her Majesty Elizabeth 1st of Scotland, 2nd of England and Wales.

  • god bless the queen

  • Long Live Her Majesty
