@FrankLoleitMusic Most likely the hall EQ that comes with the program. I have the entire software suite and I must say it's nothing short of amazing. You don't need much tweaking at all either they just sound great right after they are played.
Love the drum sounds, and the way you put this together. The brushed drums are a bit loud, but that's just taste. And it could use a little more verb, but all in all good job!
@KaitouKudou in SD2 there are some huge (floor) toms that were recorded for this in sections of 8 I believe, I am not 100% sure but that's possibly the droning sound you are referring to.
Good job, sounds very action oriented. What SD2 patch did you use?
Agree with the others it could use a little more compression. It probably sound great on your system, but when it's crunched and compressed down to YouTube level, the compression really helps.
I like stormdrum alot, but if you mix it with more heavy sounds (like guitar or pass or whatever), the sounds sound really ' thin' . I know it's meant for movie scores, but i like to mix genres. Is there any way to make these sounds sound more 'phat' . They go well with strings and such, but they tend to sound weak with 'thicker' other instruments. Would really appreciate some suggestions
there is voices of passion by eastwest that has that.. I've heard mixed reviews. It looks ok, but doing legato ahs it can kinda get synthy unless u had lots of reverb.. The eastwest choirs they give u some soloists...child sopranos and such. Its ok.. Voices of passion has like 5 female solist from around the world... Symphony of voices has solists to female and male, I've never used it though...
u get child altos and sopranos and u get the ooohs and ahhs and what not you get some different phrases.. I'm happy with them They sound really real and usable... Symphony voices is like 500$ but you get like 4 discs of different libraries... I know the soloists have phrases. I don't know about solo phrasing like oo and ahh...voices of passion i think is good for pre recorded vocal phrases... vocal oohs and ahs..eh you have to add reverb, chorusing effect to make it a bit more passable.
I haven't purchased it yet (though i intend to buy goliath and get it free with eastwests buy one get one free offer :])
But my logic for everything i've recorded so far, if you want a phat tone, layer it. If you want a crisp tone keep it at one take.
So just a thought, but perhaps you could try layering two of the same instrument together, and somehow get them slightly off sync. It'd take some time, but it might be just what it needs to cut through the mix.
You should try throwing some compression on it so the drums cut thru the other lower tone instruments then adjust a bit of EQ and you should get a nice sound from that. I haven't had a chance to try SD2 but I played with SD11 and this works great on doublebasses and brass. I'm not sure if you tried this but with the right adjustments you can blend the drums with other instruments from the copression. In addition maybe try a stereo enhancer effect. Hope this helps! :
Yeah! Better hurry, the buy 1 get 1 deal is still going on untill Dec. 31. Get em fast before their gone or the deal runs out :D From "soundsonline" dot com
I'm currently looking for voices that are more like single voices, instead of whole choirs. They just have to sing ' ahhhh' or 'eeeeh' orwhatever, with some vibration, so it actually sounds like a voice (1 voice)
I really want this. I ordered some horns and strings from VSL. I want more percussion options though. I have GPO. I don't particularly care for EWQL Symphonic Library but I definitely love their percussion and vocals.
I'm selling the east west quantum leap storm drum 2 if anyone is interested then check it out on eBay its an amazing vst!!

Was that purely percussion? I loved it...what was making the appearance of a pedal tone in the background there? Sounded kind like a gong or tamtams.
Would love it if you could give some comments on my works as well. I'm just starting out in orchestration so anything would be helpful!
