  • we'll come back in a moment...after having strangled the film guy. lol.

  • jeez! why bother going on then!

  • Someone was new at the controls that day; or else someone wanted to make this guy look bad on purpose!

  • Gotta dig the suit that blends in with the green screen

  • oh Channel 2.... you never let me down

  • sounds like music from a bad 70s porno.

  • @sickandtiredofmorons This piece of music is "Will-O'-the-Wisp" by Passport, from their "Cross-Collateral" CD (then on LP).

I remember being away at summer camp during the summer of 1975. Without my prior knowledge, my dad called the station during that time to find out the artist and title of this track; upon my return, he surprised me by giving me the LP as a gift. Such great memories...

  • We don't have that film either.

  • jack bowden had a small part in forrest gump

  • This is why the movie Anchorman was so profound

  • 0:02 Did someone who play the drums???

  • You know channel 2 has always looked like a traveling carnival you see in a shopping center parking lot.

  • We don't have that tape either.

  • @Market42Fan Should be "We don't have that FILM either."

YouTube seriously needs a way to edit a previously posted comment if a mistake was made.

  • @Market42Fan no they should not. I'm glad Youtube does not allow you fucking lowlifes to edit your posts...because the first post you make proves how stupid you are.

  • Does Jack Bowden love lamp?

  • For anyone who's wondering, the music at the opening of the show is Will o' the Wisp by German jazz fusion band Passport.

  • I've been trying to find out what that tune is forever! Thanks for the update!

  • That was sort of the opposite of a meltdown. This guy's cool as a cucumber.

  • Bowden may've been "cool as a cucumber" - it was the news operation around him that was melting down, it seems.

  • music is funky

  • I love that slapback audio effect for the voice too!

  • I've pinpointed a date: This aired on or about August 1, 1975.

  • Whoa, that green screen technology is SO obvious, lol. I'm so used to hightech these days that this looks positively primitive.

    That opening music is FABULOUS.

  • yeah those wood grain desks were cool too. have to love that huge ear piece

  • I love screwups like this! Looks like the anchor wasn't as mad as others I have seen.

    Love that 70s theme music!

  • What YEAR was this from??? Anybody know? Absolutely AWESOME classic funky 70's music!

  • From the looks of it, maybe 1970 or 1971. A search for anything regarding the mass arrests came up fruitless, so this is just a guess.

  • Supposedly, the tenant strike riots happened around 1975.

  • @am74343 - This newscast was from July 9, 1975. (The Baltimore Sun - which owned WMAR at the time - reported on this in their July 10 issue.)

  • Jack Bowden = Steve carell

  • What a weird set. Wood-grain desks, and the anchor sitting in the newsroom instead of a studio. It was the 70's, I guess.

  • Well at least they fought through the flames and did the newscast despite the malfunctioning film machines. WHDH just flat out cut their newscast a couple of years ago when the main switcher died. A station that large most cetainly has a backup plan, so they just chickened out, the losers.

  • Poor Jack is right - It's called LIVE TV - Susan

  • That is the FUNKYIEST news music I've EVER heard!!!!

  • I want an IFB like that...

  • Traffic must've been rough in Baltimore that day. Haha

  • Which 70s song was this theme based on?

  • Whoa!

  • Poor Jack...thanks for the control room guys. I guess Susan White was the only employee at WMAR he could depend on...

  • You mean, Susan White-Bowden :D
