@anuthehigh lol.. 3.5? i can have mine on 3.950 but i took it down to 3.810 to make it more stable and not to strain it to hard. stock cooler and it dont go over 55c
I've tried upping to 15x multiplier but I my computer crashes. Can anyone give me any idea's for this because I know someone else with same motherboard has done this.
I lower the default voltage to 1.3 when running stock. I dont change the voltage until I go over 2.8. I run at 3.2 stable 24/7 at 1.375v. RAM at 4-4-4-15 @ 2.1v 1066
Do you have to change the voltage when Overclocking? Have the same processor and want overclock the processor. Have 700watt power supply and stock fan
ok, i ordered same cpu as u, but not delivered yet. So if we have the black edition, i think we just have to go to the bios then change the multiplier? but im not sure if its the best way
Yeah, Voltage is very important when you overclock, or else your computer will just shutdown and restart back to your last default settings, but from past experience, I couldn't go over 3.2ghz without knocking the voltage to 1.45 instead of using the stock 1.30 setting.
I have mine clocked at GHz with Voltage at 1.37. Pretty Stable using 750a Nforce motherboard. Can get 13,392 3D Marks using a Geforce 9800GTX+ Black Edition Card!
how many ghz? you just said you clocket at Ghz? I get 12,500 3d marks @ 2.8ghz with 2GB ddr2 and Visiontek Radeon 4850 (the one with crappy stock heatsink)
Sure you could tune it like that, but show me a video where you show your temps @ load and where you make a performance test, otherwise this was just a useless video :p Since I can do the same, but not with a stable system, what kind of cooler do you use? what motherboard? what components? I wanna know it all I got the same CPU.
got mine to 3.1, but it doesn't like 3.2 and it nicely stable on 3.0, 3.1 is't so stable and on a stress test, my system rebooted on 3.1, my avg temps are 29*c and 44*c on a heavy load
Alright, any 9950 owners want to hit 3.2ghz at a cheap price? Well here's the solution!!! XIGMATEK S1283 BABY!!! I got mine off newegg for $27!!! Never thought 3.2ghz was achievable on Air for a cheap price but yes it is! 3.2ghz 1.400v... runs great and super stable on the Xigamatek s1283!
what version of the 9950 do u have? 140w or 125w? my 9950 be 125w gets 3 ghz easily on 3.25v with a tuniq tower highest ive seen the temps go was 52 when I used heavy load to run all cores at 100% Gaming on crysis it barely breaks 40C. I think it would get more but im happy with 3ghz
The most stability i got from the 9950 was around 2.8...but this is with a TeC...and on another not...amd overdrive pisses me off like something horrid...everytime i used it it locks me up and i gotta do a hard restart..
i just got an amd phenom 9950 and i hope i can get it to that level when i get my thermal electric cooler and psu then maybe it won't bottleneck my 2 ati 4870 x2's
I have 9950 be and its 140 watts let me know how you hit 3.5ghz.

no I use Cooler Master V8 on an Asus M3A79-T Deluxe to answer both questions

I've heard the voltage is important to overclock.
Mark241182 3 years ago
yes, but i think u can just set the multiplier up and it will work, but im not sure

Hi, if I increase the voltage to 1.45 will my cpu die faster?
xxpoonednoobxx 2 years ago
Yea, the higher u overclock it the less its life span will be.
Acerfan2010 2 years ago
Ok, but does the voltage make the cpu hotter? I mean like from 50c to 55c on idle if i increase to 1.45 for 3.2 ghz?
xxpoonednoobxx 2 years ago
I've done it before and yes it does tend to get hotter.
Acerfan2010 2 years ago
lol i have my 9950 overclocked to 2.8ghz but i decreased the voltage from the stock. its stable at 1.26 V-core @ 2.8ghz. strange huh?

What software is that? I raised the multiplier to x15.5 in bios to get 3.1mhz but any more than that and the machine dont boot?

AMD Overdrive :)
Its a awesome tool for tweaking, as long as you have a 700 series chipset you can use it :) Its free
DeadFredVideo 3 years ago
I have a nforce 750a motherboard with same prcessor. Is it safer to use AMD Overdrive or change settings in bios?
Mark241182 3 years ago
AMD Overdrive is incompatible with nvidia chipsets :)
I think there is a piece of software from nvidia, something like ntune which will allow you to do it from windows.
Both methods are risky, but do some reading on overclocking and you'll be fine :)

gets really hot have seberian tiger plus 5 fans
still temp cpu 58c and sys 49c
on a xp
vista sucks

Ok. Now run Prime95 for at least 8 hours with it showing that thats a stable OC.
If its not stable it could lead to data corruption or even hardware going bad.

Can you actually run a stress test to make sure everything is stable? Otherwise your getting it to 3.5ghz means nothing.
Also, what are you using? MB, Cooling etc.
Good work for what's it worth.
