AVCHD is not true 1080p. Do your research, AVCHD is compressed. By the time you've decompressed and so forth, you've lost some resolution. It's not 100% true 1080p HD output but it's not far off.
Yes it records AVCHD. I edit on Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Studio 2 cannot handle AVCHD natively, so it will transcode the footage into Pro Res. The quality is very very good and it handles quite nice when trying to edit the footage.

This records AVCHD right? I thought Macs couldn't edit AVCHD?
