  • all do eveything to get a resoure based economy to end world hunger

  • I feel like his mic isn't on.

  • @trueSTUFF2296 NEVERMIND

  • o looks freddie on 8:23 he is the king really and in the beginning see you roger taylor great ;D

  • @nuridino FULlY agree! Paul M. is much worser - he couldn't sing&play at all!

  • @marinazi1 I think you have never seen him live.

  • maaaan, i was born at the wrong time fuck this gaga and bieber generation

  • @zinoudsa2006 Agree

  • mercury stole the show... but fuck, thats a finale right there.

  • You would think that the dumb bastards would have made sure that the PA system was working.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone naaa thats wat makes this soooo good coz everyone was singing along!!!

  • Lol I read that when McCartney played this song his microphone failed for the first 2 minutes of the song.

  • lord let it be let it be were our world is free to be who they want to be ,freedom for all just humans being humans to love who they want to love male or female,no supreme race just the human race loveing and careing for all and noooooooo more warrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr peace love and happines against all odds before i die i wish for freedom for alll no more wars every dam one getting along in perfect harmony oh lord let it be i love everyone people erase the word hate

  • Brilliant!

  • Famine video - Fucking bullshit:

This video contains content from WMG and EMI, one or more of whom have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.

    People need to see this!

  • Unfortunately, I don't care how bad all the problems were with The Music Equipment that day, this is great music and great Rock Stars and Bands, this would never work today with who we all have now.

  • "Who all do you see when everybody comes on stage?" Paul McCartney, Bob Geldof, Pete Townshend, Alison Moyet, David Bowie, Wham!, Big Country, Spandau Ballet, U2, Adam Ant, Howard Jones, Sting, Style Council, Roger Daltrey, Midge Ure, Queen, Elton John, it's kind of hard to see with a full crowd, "Do you see any others?"

  • this song is great, but put in a place like this it's freakin LAME!

" Oh look at us, we're sharing our music and giving money to... what country is it? Ah f*ck it, this'll gimme a swimming pool and child support fo' sure "

  • @bustedup Watch the movie "When Harvey met Bob", might change your opinion a bit.

  • I love it when you see Elton try to get to the mic and when he realizes it doesn't work he just starts shouting it at the audience

  • I hope one day will be another live aid...like this..magic...

  • lol the microphone is really 'loud' :/

  • For me this is one of lifes very greatest moments; grand scale heart felt emotion and understanding of something bigger and grander than anything else. An honest demonstration of mans love of mankind.

  • "Well tonight thank god its them instead of you."

    What an incredibly stupid line.

Makes me cringe to watch this today.

Live Aid was NEVER about Africa.

    It was about White sanctimoniousness.

Hows that workin' out these days?

They went from giving trillions to people who dont give a shit about them.

to now subsidizing their own displacement via mass immigration.

  • Who is the chubbins standing next to Bowie?

  • There was the initial loud cheer before the lights got brighter because the rumour was that Ringo and George were going to be on stage with Paul.

  • To hear Paul on the encore just listen to Bono,he shares the mic with Paul at the end. After many viewings I only saw Paul and Linda standing behind.Near the last seconds you"ll see it and even before hear him. That puts the stamp on it!

  • when the mic comes back on and all the audience cheer :') it just proves how appreciated he really was.

  • The most touching piece of music ever performed, never fails to make me cry.

  • lol i see im not the only one that watched when harvey met bob last night lol,it made my xmas and i just had to come here to watch the real thing, and dont forget you can STILL donate to live aid.....

  • @stellastey thanks a lot!! I watched that episode too!! I had to come here to watch the real thing myself! ;) :)

  • Seeing that programme last night When Bob met Harvey put McCartney's performance into perspective, I didn't realise he was rusty & extremely tentative about performing live after 5 years.

  • @yallop9 Ha,ha! Looks like we had exactly the same idea! I was about to mention watching "When Harvey Met Bob" and how I had no idea McCartney was so nervous about performing live after so long and then saw your comment! My nostalgia gene has kicked in now so I'm away to watch Freddie own the stage!

  • LET IT BE!! Awesome.

  • Whatever you say,I am a big MJ fan,I love the beatles but you can't deny the fact that Freddie Mercury is the one of the most charismatic frontman a rock band can have and He IS and WILL be the GREATEST singer ever.

  • its very weird seeing paul there, like he in terms of inpact to music, was the greatest single artist there that day. i think elton, queen, the who and bowie also come quite close. but paul is just that much more legendary. however queens performance is untouchable. beyond amaizing

  • @kahuna3901 It was also the first time McCartney performed on stage in over 5 years, as he had stopped touring after he was arrested in Japan in january 1980 and the tour was cancelled. Him being at Live Aid was BIG!. I had only discovered the Beatles in 1979 when I was 12, so this was really the first time I got to see him live (albeit on tv). I waited all day and then got all nervous, 'cause Paul was due to go on in London, but the tv kept showing Madonna, who was playing in Philadelphia. :D

  • @JaneFokster Have to agree with you there. Kahuna3901 - it was UN-BE-LIEV-ABLE to see all these live acts. I don't think anyone complained. I know my friends and I had a "sleepover" at my house and we stayed up ALL night to watch Live Aid. Totally the best thing to come out of the 80s :) :) :)

  • @JaneFokster why did he get arrested in japan again?

  • @JaneFokster ok, he was arrested for pot...

  • oh men.....i saw live aid in puerto rico when i was 9 years old, i watch the whole thing...from beginning to end...25years later still gives me the goosebumps just like that nite....

  • drunk fuck won't let go of the mic

  • whata fuck has happaned in the enD?

    hahahahaha

Very cool this very happy video thanks for this

  • Bono's Mullet Feeds Hungry Children.

  • have to admit i dont care for " do they know its christams time" to be honest it jsut not a good song, geldof should have utilised the some of the sonngwriting ability his entourage has, pete townsend is floating around somewhere why not leave him write the song

  • Paul normally is great- but he's human and this isnt his best concert- everyone has their off days Paul included. listen to the albums and all the other live shows and you'll see why Paul is amazing and you shouldnt say rude things about him

  • FREDDIE!

  • Yah I remember that-- the mic comes in at about 2:20; you can hear the crowd cheer.

  • think he mimed the vocals

  • I think Mccartney is miming through the song, voice not quite matching the mouth!

  • @jasethebass1 did u not see that his mic was gone ? huh....... he is not miming the revolving stage pulld the mic outta the amp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....Watch the film it was on rté tonite u will get it on RTÉ player 14/10/10 at 9Pm-ish

    cheers bud

  • Damn that really sucked..

  • wait are there 2 pauls this one and the one from the beatles that supposedly died

  • I remember Big Country being there, but I swear I don`t remember them playin that day. I sat up and watched the entire thing that whole day!!!

  • its not fair ever since the beatles has had to deal with crappy mikes

  • he looks relieved at 3:06 when the crowd join in to make up for the microphone not working properly!

  • Comment removed

  • If John had still been living, this would have been the absolute perfect point for a one off reunion of sorts.

  • I remember it like it was yesterday.

IT WAS an amazing day. That many people watching, that many musicians pumping it out, and all for one single cause.

There are so many memories of that day, it is hard to start.

All that can be said is: HERE'S TO YOU, BOB GELDOF for the whole idea.

  • scouse power

  • There will be some feed back, let it be...lol.

  • well theyre different type of musicians but mccartney has been a lot more successfu andl in terms of writing songs and making music he is much better, i also believe that mccartney has a much more versitile voice than mecury alot more

  • @lennonsbiggestfan

jup, from yesterday to helter skelter, nothing beats his versatility.

just like the versatility of the beatles genres they explored.

  • ouch

  • The great thing about the microphone not working is that the entire stadium knew the song and were singing with him.

  • Does anybody else realize that chick Alison Moyet is hogging up the mic!? lol let poor David sing!

  • Bob Geldolf is a terrible terrible terrible singer

  • i love paul, but even once the sound came back this was a painful performance

  • yeah i read in paul's biography that paul was devistaded when the sound failed because the audience was booing at him because they couldnt hear him but he didnt know the sound failed so he thought they just hated him but obviously they didnt because who could hate paul i mean really...

  • Queen should have ended the show

  • @salcedoyaqui866.......Queen's definitely stole the show, but i think its appropriate that Paul Mccartney's the last act of the show, being one of the member of the greatest band in the world, being the most successful composer of all time, out of respect for him i guess the organizer choose the right decision!

  • Nowadays a tech guy would have jumped that mic like a cobra. Back in 85 it seems the techs took it manjana.

  • no one being able to hear him, that will take mcartney back to beatle mania :L

  • lets be honest tho, freddie has had no where near the same impact on the world tht macca has had, i think tht the feed the world song is shockingly done here really terrible. MACCA IS THE GREATEST. FREDDY AINT IN THE SAME LEAGUE !!!

  • @lennonsbiggestfan

I do hope that you are kidding to say that Mercury isn't in the same league as McCartney's.

  • @rishi007316 I don`t think that person is kiddin; there`s no artist around nearly half as good as McCartney.

  • watch this with sound!!- see the same video with sound by

    rainbowman2000

  • This was repeated as the last thing on the BBC's coverage of that day - followed by the BBC-1 closedown at 4:15am!!!

  • Dude, Paul sucks here... I really adore him(as a musician...) but this sucks... His Back In the USA Tour is way much better!

  • Whaha Let them know Spring time is Coming xD

  • George Michael's such an egg

"let them know that Spring time is coming"

    I mean, come on...

  • Was that George that said that??? Always thought it was Bono! LOL

  • on other footage I've seen of the concert, George Michael was responsible. hehe

Great artist - Right message - Wrong moment

  • @tsushima91 Well, that figures!! Bono`s too good to do somethin like that, anyway!!!

  • Paul did FANTASTIC here~!!! With Microphone issue.

  • 3:47 heh heh *tickle*

  • @Sodahpop96 I thought it was very annoying for Paul.

  • 7:22 Rick Rolled?

  • @007bond189 lol that's Sting not Rick Astley

  • 3:48 Bob Geldoff, Pete Towsend, David Bowie & Paul McCartney singing let it be....that is the epitome of epic concert moments!

  • Yup :-)

  • 7:34 is the best moment ^^

  • or maybe the beatles on the stage stole the show? ; )

  • lol his sweater makes me wanna hug him XD

  • Haha...Paul McCartney and the quartet who sang along in Let it Be are SUCH DORKS. Only Freddie Mercury / Queen were COOL that night. Everyone else look ridiculous. LOL.

  • LMFAO! The finale is the funniest part, because Freddie KNEW he stole the show--so being the humble/nice guy that he was, he just stood back and watched everybody fight to sing their parts!

  • From what I remember about this performance, the sound failed and Paul was virtually singing live to the world without a mic. I'm sure you can sort of hear it come back about half way through. However it is totally undisputed by anyone with half a brain that Queen and in particular Freddie Mercury were the best act in the world that day and possibly that live performance will never be matched by any artiste ever.

  • @06usastratdeluxe and @perfuzz in the making of live aid thing it said the sound techs just didn't unmute the mic for about 2 mins.

  • @06usastratdeluxe totaly agree, when the stage was set up for paul the wire connecting his mic to the stadium speakers came out of the socket so the ppl there couldnt here him singin until half way through (you can hear their reaction when the mic is fixed the camera is roof mounted looking over the whole croud at the time) ppl watchin at home could hear very faintly what he was singing, but freddie owned the stage that day :)

  • @Gregsynth Yep. It's so funny to watch everyone trying desperately to keep the mic away from Freddie in a pathetic effort to rebuke him because Freddie literally outshone them all, HAHAHA! A lot of fragile egos were crushed that day by the MIGHTY FREDDIE MERCURY! MUHAHAHAHA!

  • And when Freddie DID get a note in, it was LOUDER than the 4 other people around him: Then Bono looked PISSED! LOL

He's probably thinking: "Damn, that bloody Freddie not only stole the show, but he bruised my ego!" LOL

  • @Gregsynth Freddy and QUeen blew the fuse so the mike didnt work for a while- poor Paul!

  • Because Freddie's voice is too powerful! lol

  • @Gregsynth LOL!!!! excellent comment...ur damn right he stole the show.....

  • Freddie Mercury owns!

  • @Gregsynth dont agree with you! Bowie was far the best

  • Bowie was awesome, and was my favorite "solo" performer at the show--but I gotta give the edge to Queen because he got that whole audience clapping/swaying/and singing to Radio Ga Ga and We Are The Champions!

  • Comment removed

  • Because Freddie Mercury is "magic."

  • No i like how the only person who you liked was gay (no offence to Mercury) But come on

  • let it be.....sound!!! yey!

  • this is the best of the best mccartey forever!!!!!!!!!!

hell bent for sir paul mccartey

  • the sound crew at that concert must have been diabolical. i'v looked at several videos now and they're all rubish or something wrong with the sound

  • Normally I would agree but you have to understand how things went that day. Each act was given twenty minutes to perform. While that was going on the previous band was removing their equipment back stage while the next act was setting up. There was no time to do a proper sound check or on site rehearsal. Plus at Wembly the power went out during The Who's set so something had to be jerry rigged in order to finish the show.

  • Partizan Belgrade!!!

  • 2:01 is when the microphone begins working.

  • hahaha couldn't hear the weak voiced fart. Freddie owned that show and i felt sorry for whoever followed queen onto the stage. cant remember who it was as i was just a youth. Was it Status Quo?? Paul is a joke in my eyes

  • I was there and it was as pathetic as it sounds. Why oh why do we keep rolling him out. Just retire him off for gods sake. There was only one star that night and that was Freddie Mercury, rip.

  • gawd the 80's were corny as hell

  • I know,I grew up in it and it was FUN!!!!

  • and paul was in his fortys.........

  • Who'd Pete T. give a kiss to at 6:43?

  • think it was 1 of the status qo guys

  • Geldof's voice really is quite crap, isn't it? :P

Loved to have seen McCartney and Mercury take vocals for that last number.

  • i agree geldof is quite a poor singer but he did arrange the concert so probably deserved the mic. Freddie didnt get a mic to sing along as he had allready stole the show and singing along with every1 would of shown how he IS the greatest by far

  • I love at 3:24 when the crowd erupts thinking its Ringo and George. Just to realize its just Geldof, Townshend, and Bowie.

  • That isn't what they thought. They were out there before they started singing...

  • Didn't his microphone cut out part way through 'Let It Be'?

  • i like when Bono says - Let them know the spring time is coming.

Thats not in the original lyric

  • honey, i saw the whole thing in realtime on tv back then, and i was the first here who had the WATW-record. About the causes one can argue,- i say that in the long run this helped mostly to improve the artist´s pc-image, not the african´s lives.

So, and i do not know nothing ´bout music?

Why, - because i do not like the "Boomtown Rats"? 8--)).

Have you ever heard that people´s tastes are different?

  • Its hard to believe its been 24 years since this occured.

  • Bryan adams should have been playing in Wembley, instead of Philadelphia, and where was Bruce Springsteen?

  • he was supposed to play, but he declined, not knowing how big it would be. so did Tears for Fears.

  • The Beatles were the best, better than queen, U2 and everyone else.

  • i disagree partly cos it was only paul on this and secondly queen were the best

  • They wern't in this performance, though. ;)

  • Why ridiculous??

I aggree with the fact that the sound is terrible, but the greatest artis on the planet came together that day. And to hear every great artist singing live, gives me the goosbumps.

But I don't think we should do live aid again, because now we only get beyoncé an justin timberlake, and those are shit.

  • yeah i suppose your prefer the shitty music of these days do you?

  • this is not music, this is charity gang bang!

  • it's not about the musicians saving the world, it's about getting everyone together for a common purpose

you need to look at the big picture

  • i agree

  • your stupid shut your dumb fucking mouth

  • and you cut off your filthy fingers

  • your dumb.. you obviously have absolutely no idea why this was held and you probably know nothing about music

  • P.S.: for those about to complain--

i do love almost every single person in this video, mainly good old Macca and Halloween Jack. But least of them i need Geldof and his pathetic live aid stuff

  • MACCA rocks

  • turn up the mic!

  • 8.25 min I love Freddie so much

  • he makes the difference...so great voice!!!

  • A lot of legendaries musicians but, damn, I hat the 80's, they all looked very ugly...

  • bowie, mccartney and townshend on one stage. i may have just exploded if i was there.

  • when i saw the 1985 i thought it was gonna be nineteen hundred and eightyfive lol

  • oleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee mui wueno le felicito el q lo auda colgado felicidades!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There's not good song because Paul explain in "McCartney years" one of Queens roadie's pulled out some wires

  • man

what the hell did you just say?

  • Oh,I meant to say good "sound" and "Paul explained"in his DVD.If that clears anything up,Sorry.

  • 24 years on, this still gives me goosebumps lol

  • the mic is down? anyway..... great performance

  • queen stole that show

  • Let Bowie singa! :D

  • Did they reahersle before?

    Not a bad song tho...

  • plug the mic in sum1

  • Cant hear any words ?

  • haha what a shambles at the end.

  • The greatest of'em all,sir Paul McCartney!!!

  • what a pro....i would fire the the techs in this the most memorable gig of all time.....GET IT RIGHT and let him be!

  • bon scott is the best live !

  • Actually Paul recorded the vocals the day after the concert. They were not used until the DVD. That's also not the only place things were fixed. The US finale was fixed with the original recording and there for features evidence of Kenny Loggins and James Ingram who didn't' participate in the concert. Regardless voices or not, this is a memorable performance.

  • bollox dude ... go sit in a corner n sort ya boat out

  • Gay boy george

  • Bollocks, personal preference doesn't come into this.Freddie Mercury had a bigger range than mc Cartney, a better technique and a hugely more poweful voice than Macca. If you prefer macca thats fine but Freddie wipes the floor with him as a singer

  • mccartney better writer, better musician, just different styles of singing.

  • i agree completely mate, just people were getting carried away with themselves. One of the best writers ever.

  • Best voice award goes to Don Henley....
