Impressive. His stupid dancing and pathetic mouth sounds annoys me like hell... and yet he plays the piano so damn well. Indeed a strange and wonderful person.
its interesting to compare the process of a more meditative (physically speaking) player like mehldau to an extroverted player like jarret (physically speaking)...both produce music that is raw, deep, swinging and either introverted or extroverted, but their physical process is so different..
but of course... mehldau is HUGELY influenced by Jarrett, I'd say more so than any other jazz pianist... but, yeah... they are both EXTRAORDINARY players. this performnace is just not human.
I would say that Beethoven only can make an equal match of him. Nobody would ever dare to do what he has done, at least outside of their living room. And the same applies for beethoven also in a different way. Both of them dont produce the initial wow! when first experienced by the viewer. A closer look and the known world is dashed to pieces :)
Oh my god. I mean I can play this song and put up a fight with it but this is just fucking incredible. One of my favourite things about Keith is that when he plays, he always sounds out what he's playing. It adds quite a touch to his music.
kills it, kills it, kills it, and is still left with ideas. keith could have played solar for 3 days straight and it would have all been completely amazing
this is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter! its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F4 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo wierd!
please, stop with these super grandious statements..they are completely irrelevant and anti-musical. Keith Jarrett is a great great pianist...but certainly NOT a great composer!!! He has written some cool stuff...but please...I am sure he himself would agree with me!!and what about that "composers from the 1500's? What about 1600's? and 1700's?? and later! Please!!
kingsnowman... :)Keith is great, but he's no better than Robert Schumann, chopin, brahms, Mozart, Bach,Beethoven, Wagner, surly not Bartok...and let's see Schubert, Alban berg, Stravinsky...
Is he greater than Bill Evans? for me, it depends on what particular day... But he's one of my all time favorites too, so... :)

@ ODRADEK111
He is a great composer! He does not need to be as good as Chopin in composing, because his main ability is IMPROVISING, and there noone beats him.
