Can't you use liquid polypropylene "fast cast" resin.

I agree, that plastic by the billions is thrown away, and that melting it or recycling it is usefull.

I suggest a double boiler with peanut oil, or maybe old motor oil. (high smoking points) . And then maybe a stainless steel bowl to hold the molten plastic in.
