  • I hate music that is about performing tricks rather than melody and harmony. I guess it is really hard writing good stuff. I will keep looking.

  • Is that theme @2:01 from another song? Sounds familiar. lol

  • @TheBlueRickey Rule Britannia :P

  • @VioLynn0803 just because you can't spell spaghetti doesn't mean he can't tell you if it tastes like crap.

  • 55,000 + views, and NO ONE can say they disliked it. that's how AWESOME he is.

  • all i have to say is WOW.......

  • i wish i could play that high so consistently, it doesnt even seem like he takes may breaths...or even big ones at that...so frustrating ..jealousy meter is broken

  • I play in the Gwent Youth Band and a few weeks back we had a concert with Bob Childs conducting us and Dave Childs as guest soloist. He was absoutely amazing as always and fully deserves his title of best Euphonium player in the world. :)

  • why cant you like a video more than once?

  • omj! what euphonium brand does he have?! :O

  • @bananalover911 In this video a Besson Prestige. Now he plays a York Eminence

  • @JorgEuphonium back to besson now :)

  • @JorgEuphonium he still plays on a besson prestige according to his website

  • @JorgEuphonium he's back on besson

  • @Joey10Thompson10 yes, I know it!

  • Comment removed

  • @bananalover911 Now he is going back to Besson!

  • Ohne worte ...

  • he is a sexy man beast!

  • i wanna be like him, i hope someone teach me to be a better player like him, please...

  • Yes that note on at the end is an E flat just so you know a concert E flat is a Euphonium E flat they are the same it is tuned to Bb but it sounds concert pitch it is confusing but just look it up.

  • @Dawgtodd

that's only when they play in bass clef, in brass bands they play Bb treble clef, so music has to be written a second above, it ends on super F :)

  • @Dawgtodd

Actually, a concert Eb is a Db on a euphonium. As the euphonium is tuned to Bb and concert pitch is by definition a C, you need to play a note a full tone higher than the corresponding concert note to be in synchronicity

  • @euph0ny yeah, so a concert Eb is a F on euphonium and not a Db...

  • @euph0ny but the thing is, it's a Bb instrument, but it reads in C. so if you see a Bb in the bass clef staff of course, and play a Bb, it sounds a Bb.

  • dude you got to be the luckiest guy on earth!!!!!!ive looked up to this guy when i first played euophonium please send mi a picture!!!!!!

  • this guy is a beast no other euphonium player has anything on him

  • David Child's is probably the best euphonium player I've ever heard. (Nice ending)

  • @TheRevelation0 amen to that

  • this is actually one of my favorite solos im doing it for my drum corps i&e solo this coming summer, half of this one and half of rule britannia by hartman

  • The last note is a Concert Eb, and for the euphonium F

  • that's cool when he sings into his euphonium while playing it at about 1:20.

  • Comment removed

  • hes not as good as his dad, but still amazing

  • No, he's better.

  • @alphadeano he is as good as his dad

  • @Joey10Thompson10 I know wish I could sound like that

  • @alphadeano how is that possible????????

  • improvisa demasiado pero mola (H)

  • Holy SHIT O.O

  • @greghicksUS nothing compared to his flight of the bumble bee.

  • @kyuubisharinan3296 yes it is

  • I just got this piece of music and it is HARD!!!!!! But I'm getting there.

    Thanks for uploading this

  • where do u buy this i wanna play it

  • Which tone is his last one?

  • E flat

  • He plays up to concert F earlier in the piece with sustained tone, more than once.

  • F it is

  • A flat

  • Actually it is high C

  • the end of the cadenza before the theme is an F concert

  • nope its high Eb.

  • @euph91 It's clearly a Insanely high E flat, if you know tones by ear

  • Wow...Amazing tone quality! We (Golden State British Brass Band) are playing two shows with him at the end of the month and this piece is on the program!

  • I was there at SWRTEC and saw that concert. You guys were amazing alongside the great David Childs. I wish I could have gone to the second concert that following night.

  • at 3:13 it sounds so french lol

  • holy crap at 1:22 he plays two notes at the same time

  • It might be multiphonics

  • it is multiphonics

  • haha its only multiphonics ... you sing a note an 8th above the noth you are playing

  • It's actually a 10th, he is playing concert F and singing concert A

  • even when he does mess up it sounds awesome. his messing-up tone is better than mine is normally

  • Euphomann u suck at playing the eupho so shut up. YOU ROCK DAVID CHILDS

  • no one has the right to comment on his one mistake, unless that can play it faultless,

  • David Childs is one of my musical idols. I try to mimic his solid graceful sound whenever I play my own Euph. I'm not where near his skill level. But one day.... one day.

  • i'm sure you can. not saying i can, but it sure feels great to have someone you admire to think of, yea? ;D

  • It keeps me going on the days that I am fighting with my horn. Knowing that one day I'll make music as beautiful as this.

  • all the best to you then!

  • Even the best go down sometimes, too. It only makes me feel less nervous thinking that even he makes mistakes, too. I love the Euphonium. I love listening to them, and I love playing them.

  • David Childs ? Fuck yeah....!

  • This piece is plain awesome!

  • the breakdown at 3:32 is my favorite part of the whole song it sounds sad but beautiful!

  • hermoso :)

  • ahh i heard it, nut it wasn't that big of a deal. like he doesnt lose anyof the respect i already have for him.

  • but*

  • That is not a musical mistake it's a mistake that he took a breath there, when he obviously shouldn't have.

  • its not event that he took a breath where he shouldn't have..its just that the noted didn't come out completely centred..thats all

  • Not a real big mistake for this performence ^^

  • nobody is perfect just know that.

  • its not even that he took a breath where he shouldn't have..the note just didnt come out centred..thats all

  • Don't u think ur being ever so slightly pathetic? Everyone makes mistakes from time to time. Even the best.

  • thats why i said "haha"

  • I wish it was possible to take a look behind the mouthpiece in slow-mo and figure out exactly how he does it....amazing!!!

  • lol I know this is old but I was having a similar thought yesterday. I thought it would be cool to have like an x-ray video of his face while he's playing so you could see his tongue and stuff.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought about something like that. lol

  • @VodkaYum and it is memorized that is just.... it makes me shudder just thinking about it.

  • @VodkaYum yeah i know its frustrating lol

  • just brilliant!!!

  • AMAZING!

  • I just can't understand how a tiny three year old is able to play a euphonium.

  • I bought the music to this recently... its hard as crap and he actually improvises some of this... dang he's good.

  • I'd say that he's skilled:D

  • i think thats an understatement... then again hes only been playing seen he was 3 O_o

  • Awesome
