An amusing one is the Hogwarts express locomotive, which is actually a 'Hall Class' locomotive, yet has a Castle Class name (the GWR Castle class are much larger).

There's a joke in railway circles that the loco has delusions of grandure....

"It's a Hall that thinks it's a Castle!" :)

@JBroxsMyCanadianSock Yes but the scene with "platform 9 and 3 quarters" was not filmed at Kings Cross. J.K. Rowling made a mistake. There is no platform between 9 and 10 in real life. It is two rail way lines next to each other. That scene was really filmed at Euston Station.

You can tell because the trains are blue with an orange stripe through the middle... the former GNER railway company.

However, the scenes aren't filmed where the 'platform 9 and 3 quarters' sign is.

The real location is on platform 4/5, but it's a busy place, and not the best place for a tourist attraction.

@clickclocks I think you misread an interview with Rowling where she said she meant it to be at Euston station in the book (thats what she was thinking of when she wrote it, but she called it Kings Cross). Anyway, the film WAS filmed at kings cross.

I actually went on the train because it was a special thing that happened in the UK for like a week. The sad part was I didn't go in the carriages that the film was set in, I just went in the rusty old non-filmed carriages. It was fun though :) IM A MASSIVE HARRY POTTER FAN BY THE WAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish there were more books being written and more films being shot :(
