  • Hadn't realised people were still watching this..I hadn't really meant to break the shinai. I think I had caught it under my arm and wanted to hit a hiki waza. It was one of my senseis I was fighting with her signature deadly hiki kote that nailed me. I did actually buy her a new shinai after the shiai :)

  • We've all seen it before. Its even been known to happen more than once in one shiai. >.< expensive.

  • i dont think it was on purpose i believe he just intended to turn around and the shinai was stuck in his/her clothing

  • @xxmanuelvaldesxx except in kendo theres no reason to turn around. Definately on purpose. Maybe cause he was losing.

  • I don't believe that it was on purpase, he wasn't aware of his body at that moment (panicked?) and tried to get out from the attacker (to score kote?), orhe lost his temper when he didn't get men- did a movement like if getting out of tsuba to tsuba contact (don't remember the correct name...) -You need to notice he seemed to apologise.

  • WUT A CHEAP SHOT >:l he took at 0:06 >:O

  • 0:06 *Crunching sound*

"oh shi-! oh wait it's just the shinai"

  • poor shinai =(

  • 0:06 CRUNNNCH

    Ohhhhh! XD

    Poor thing...

  • Hahahaha!

  • I'm assuming that the other person doesn't have to buy you a new shinai? xD

  • hahaha dude walking away like he just got his penis broken

  • oh... Actually I did that exactly same thing during gigeiko. I didn't realize opponent's shinai was under my arm, I thought it was stuck on my gi.

I really felt sorry for him though.

  • Except from the angle, it looks as if it was intentional I mean, you dont grab the shinai and bend to break it.....thats just not even right.

  • It actually isn't intentional at all. When you're actually in a match and you feel your opponent's shinai stuck under your arm, your first reaction is to get clear and into proper tsuba-zeriai. Also, if you watch the video closely you can see he's just as stunned as his opponent.

  • ouch, I loved how everyone said Ohhhhhhhh. I am a soon to be kendoka and I hope this dont happen, cause that would suck bad.

  • where can i find a kendo class in marion ohio and how much does it cost and please sont mark this as spam im just asking

  • use google!

    it helped me alot.

  • wow that guy did it on purpose there's no way a shinai can break that way.

  • If it hasn't been oiled in a long time and is dried out it definitely can.

  • it was like "sheeek" (silence)

  • Still don't get why that guy would twist his body like that when he has a shinai under his arm. I think he did it on purpose lol.

  • :/ sux

  • kenshinkai new york

  • made in U.S XD

  • well there not unbreakable

  • whoah! it broke -_-''
