  • Why in the world does Gian have a pop filter in front of his mic doesn't he know that its a dynamic mic and the pop filter is actually doing nothing

  • @JohnDavids1 pretty sure thats a condenser dude

  • The Ladies are just as good without him, wish him all the best in his future.

  • Ladies are just as good without him, wish him all the best in his future

  • I really wish you peeps would be less judgemental about Steven Page. We don't know what his circumstances are, we don't know what went on in his household. It's not our business anyway.

  • Robertson is a better musician anyway

  • This piece of shit left his wife and 2 sons for some fugly young groupie he met on facebook. Cocaine is a Hell of a drug !!!

  • thats what drugs/alchol do to ya u know them since your a kid and then you grow up using and then their just not the same people anymore

  • Fuckin nerd

  • Ghomeshi and Page, two self serious fellas.

"You lost a lot of weight..." "Cocaine's a hell of a drug"

  • Ghomeshi and Page, two self serious fellas.

  • Worst. Band. Ever. This guy is up his own bottom.

  • I saw them in SF, and being in the states and living under a rock, hadn't realized Steven had left. The band was still very tight, but there lot's of places I missed his voice. Life is hard, no one's perfect, Steven is a great guy and the band is fantastic. I generally like different music, but BNL connects with my inner-geekdom. Good luck Steven.

  • its strange he says he a "single parent" yet he still wears a wedding band, unless im missing something

  • im sorry but they arent as good without him, and he isnt as good solo...in my opinion.

  • Gawd...I could bear him many fine blonde sons!

  • this interview lasted about 5 min longer than their fame...

  • not a good career move Steve, please come back !!!!

  • please go back to bnl

  • wtf his is this vidoe 20:00 long

  • I forgive Steven. The BNL should just give him a second chance. Everybody needs one, and I'm sure they know the band isn't as good as it was when Page was still with them. The BNL will still remain one of my favorite bands, as they did the theme song to a kids show I used to watch when I was little (Seven Little Monsters).

  • does he not sound like robert downey jr. a bit ???

  • Awesome Steven. So much respect after watching this video.

  • I saw two of their shows (Hamilton and Toronto) without Steve and the band just isn't the same. Yes, Ed can hold his own, but when other bandmates fill in for Steve's songs it falls flat. For example, I had a hard time listening to Tyler's rendition of "Alcohol" and Kevin's version of "Sound of Your Voice". The crowd was seated the entire show, the energy just wasn't there. Needless to say, I will be first in line if they ever have a reunion tour!

  • The BNL Reunion tour will be glorious, and bet your ass, will happen. They are too great not to have this happen. Thanks for the music Steven.

  • This guy sounds so nice and level headed here but recent interviews in 2010 when his CD was released he came across as a selfish jerk and was clearly still using cocaine based on his weight and general appearance. Also there's videos of him playing at bars and having a martini in one hand and just coming across as a sarcastic and confrontational dick. I hope he gets off the drugs and booze and acts like his true self once again.

  • I heard page left the bad for the pursuit of selfish happiness by way of drugs and alcohol.

  • @agioni99 nah dude he started a band called the Vanity project, but it doesn't look like thats taking off

  • @koreanguitarguy

    cool, cool

  • Does this mean the band will be reduced to being called Topless Ladies?

  • he was my favorite <3

  • i seen the band at the new years party in Niagara falls last night and they are still amazing

  • @watersnake055 lucky...

  • @watersnake055 so did i! :D i live there :P

  • I'd write a song with this guy anyday

  • This is such a huge shame. What else can you say?

Wish the band was still making music :(. With Steven that is ((((

  • Comment removed

  • is the radio presenter arj barkers brother or something?? they look so much alike!

  • I love listening to this guy talk almost as much as I love to listen to him sing.

  • Some people are missing the point here. This isn't about divorce, per se--I never said it was--it's about his neverending bad habits WHICH LED to the breakdown of his family. That's it, that's all. I'm not sure why so many here are condoning his behavior because he merely comes off as a heck of a nice guy, can sing really well and is somewhat articulate. He's failed at what counts most...pointe final!

  • equalcharliebrown...Wilde said it best: "There is no sin except stupidity." You mustn't have children. The man is a fantastic talent, no doubt, but is remarkably dim-witted and selfish. When you become a parent, you have a job, an obligation, to set an example, to be an example. The guy has been an on-and-off alcoholic and druggie for years now. One shouldn't be "learning" not to behave this way once they have children, as you put it. He's apparently, "humble[ed]," because he got caught!

  • @fliq7 Cocaine possession is stupid, but divorce and getting a new girlfriend is completely normal. If you don't click with your partner anymore, you don't click. There's nothing you can do to fix that.

  • @fliq7 I guess you can write off everything The Doors did, all the Rolling Stones albums, and any Beatles Album after 1969 then you fucking moron.

  • Justine says, "This guy is a class act"...He gets busted for cocaine possession, amongst other drugs, while staying at his girlfriend's place in New York. In the mean time, HE HAS THREE CHILDREN and has split from their mom! If you were a parent, you wouldn't be calling this fool a "class act"!

  • @fliq7 To error is human, to admit it and reach for higher things is a sign of being humble and willing to learn.

  • I think one day we'll see the original lineup together, and i'll be front and center at that concert.

  • @jordanadult I would kill to see that concert. They're UNBELIEVABLE live!

  • I'd write a song with him!

  • lol canada

  • ive seen them here in the states 32 times, all with Steven, I for some reason refuse to see them live with their current line up! Steven was the front man, he got the crowd jumping and going, it's been over a year, and I still can not bring myself to see a show.

  • Real shame, interesting interview. Don't be proud, go back to were you once belong!

  • Tour cancelled. Total lack of interest? Hope not for Steve's sake. Haven't heard anything from him.

BNL concert in TO was amazing on the weekend.

  • Dear Steve,

    Don't be a douche.

    Love,

    TheAnonew

  • ATTENTION STEVEN ... GET THE FUCK BACK IN THE BAND.. LOVE, ,NEWBRUNSWICK

  • so what was he a crack attick or something? hes got jitters lol

  • @animebabe1122 No, Coke Head...

He got super cokey when they were writing their children's album.... go figure.

  • @Syphalis1 yikes

  • just saw steve and his new band. a+

  • Is it just me or is this video glitching out and freezing? This is the second computer I try to watch this video on :/

  • Although I like the music, I've never seen BNL. I'm going to see him tonight as an individual artist and in the small venue of the Royal Oak Music Theatre (Michigan) am sure to be rewarded with a most memorable evening. Everyone deserves a fresh start, I'm looking forward to Stevens.

  • "One Week" R.I.P

  • ok, i only glossed throught the last few months .. but the one thing i got was steve was the john lennon of bnl? maybe the ozzy of black sabath or the dude from poison from poison. but john lennon? the best thing bnl has put out in the last 10 years are ed's bathroom recordings on youtube, which are awsome, and dont have much steve. ed is the paul mccartney, but there is no john. maybe steve could be a ringo, who was a goof, but probably not a cokehead. get better and get back together.

  • I think he is great. Very brilliant writer and singer. I bought his album. Haven' listened to it yet, but I'm excited to do so!

  • bnl have lost the vibe that they had when steven was in the band! :( i cant bring myself to go and see them now...i missed the chance of the last gig in the uk before he left! :( and now im back in canada i missed him in stratford :/ i love him though!! fave member of the band!

  • Its Peter Gabriel leaving Genesis all over again. :( Hopfully Steve doesn't drop off the face of the Earth like Peter did. And hopfully BNL has the same fate as Genesis.

  • @HEAT84 It's more like Stephen Duffy leaving Duran Duran :/

  • @HEAT84 Peter dropped off the face of the earth? Ever heard "So"?

  • @HEAT84 Peter Gabriel dropped off the face of the Earth? Shock The Monkey? Sledgehammer? Big Time? In Your Eyes? Huh?

  • did anyone else notice that he speaks with the same tone of voice as he sings!!??

  • This guy is a class act.

  • ;( wish he did`nt leave. ;(

  • its sad he left but if he didnt do the fucking crack that dumshit

  • He comes to Victoria B.C a lot. I still haven't seen him :(

  • but why?!?!!?!

  • hey steve,a band is looking for 75% of tallent and foundation.we miss you and FU&K THEM!

go solo and show your keeping every % of whats urz!

and let BNL dwindle while they sell out!

  • @inmylife10465 HOW exactly did BNL sell out?

  • @inmylife10465

Are you joking? or are you as dumb as you sound. BNL haven't sold out in the lease.

  • @Edchick28 You sound even more dumb by using the word "lease" instead of the proper word "least".

  • @kronker So I may very well be dumb. But being a jerk and pointing it out doesn't help me to spell better.

  • He kinda looks like Johnny Galecki.

  • Why can't he do his own thing and work with BNL!? I mean, come on! Simply for the integrity of the songs they made he should stay!!! lol

  • wait a minute, so if i got to see barenaked ladies next month he won't be performing? that sucks.

  • His new record is sooooo incredible!!!

  • He don't look he did crack!! He didn't go born again did he???

  • As soon as Jian says cocaine, Steven sniffs.

  • @QuarterSesh HAAA! *sniffs*

  • I love BNL Steven get your ass back to making music

  • I love you Steven You have great things headed your way...

  • I saw the band last night in Southampton (UK) and I have to say they, in my opinion, they were as good as ever, even without Steve Page. Kevin, Jim and Tyler have all been given greater responsibility and gave fantastic solo performances on some songs. Tyler's rendition of Alcohol with Ed on drums was just fantastic. He may not have Steve's vocal ability but he did a great job.

Anyone writing the band off without Steven Page should forget that notion. The band have recaptured their magic.

  • @daoshenlong My daughter and I were at the gig in Southampton too and we thought they were fantastic. We also saw them at Southampton three years ago and I'd say they were as good if not better this time!

  • @daoshenlong

I agree. Saw them on the 10th in Birmingham, first time in a few years & first time without SP. Of course it's different but they are still every bit as good & they still ROCK!

  • @daoshenlong

Yep - saw them is Brisol. The other guys have stepped up, and they are all really talented. Tyler should sing more - hes got a great voice. "The Sound of your Voice" was stunning.

  • @daoshenlong I saw them in August, I believe and they were still amazing.

  • I totally agree. I saw them in Hampton Beach NH last week and they sounded better then ever

  • thank god!!

  • RIP Barenaked Ladies, cause without Steve, it's not the same...

  • 'Highs' include Glasgow Barrowlands... good times! Thanks Steven xxx

  • I forgive Steve for doing drugs. He should come back to BNL. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • AAaaaaawwww That just sucks! I never got to see them play!

  • @zilversunkist me either :/

  • then, Steve Page tried to interview Billy Bob Thornton, and ended up exchanging viles of blood with each other...

  • 36 seconds and I've lost interest.

  • i like JT but this ad is really getting annoying!!!

  • i think its bullshit that they would kick steven out just because he did coke i meen yea thats not good but he is the same person and if it werent for him there would be no BNL they need to stop all this BS tlk it out support him, try and help quit and bring him back cause its not BNL without steven page

  • The good news is that Steven's new single "Indecision" was released July 27th and new album "Page One" comes out September 28th.

  • ...i just realized steve left. and i cried. ive been listening to these guys since i was a little kid, and have loved them throughout my life. this is probably the most depressing thing ive ever heard :'(

  • @CapnPeanut5271 Same here, it's like the final death knell of my youth. :(

  • I saw them tonight at Radio City and it made me so incredibly sad, because though they're still such a great band, Steve's vocals were so amazing, nobody else can even come close. It got even worse when we were driving home, listening to all their old albums. When "What a Good Boy" came on I nearly started crying, because he's so amazing, and there's a different sort of feel without his voice )':

  • You turned and ran for cover.

  • how old is the laptop on his desk?

  • i must say that the information presented here is much greater and far more influential then the "Rush-Beyond the Lighted Stage" documentary, although it was unfortunate to not hear the input of all 3 band members.

  • Oh, man, I used to love these guys. Still have "Stunt" in my collection. Sorry to hear about Steven's coke habit. I hope he's doing better. Wondering when the solo effort will surface? I look forward to hearing what he has to say.

  • i think that BNL will never b the same and probably wont b as good im not saying that i think steve is better i just think that its not BNL without steve and ed together because those 2 together sound really great and make really great music there is just no other band like them and probably never will b. steve will b missed and i hope they do get bak together

  • What a remarkably well spoken, bright guy he is. In my mind, he was the John Lennon of the two...raw, unbridled talent that was the more creative of the two. Ed is obviously the energetic go getter who is just like McCartney. I prefer most of Steve's songs to Ed's (with exceptions) because I think they are just better written, none of the simpler A/B rhyming that Ed seemed to dip into a bit too much. One things for certain... I'll miss 'em.

  • skip add 0:01

  • I saw the "new" BNL last night in Charlotte, NC. I knew Steven wouldn't be there. I knew I was going to be soooo disappointed. ...and I was...I am begging you Steven, please come back! I have seen you at least 12x. I am from Buffalo and I saw you in Toronto and Buffalo. I also had drinks with you and the band in Anapolis in '92??? when you were trying to break into the Southern part of the US. My favorite song is Good Boy---all of my faves were the ones you sang! Gordon reunion pleeeeez!

  • I saw them on the 31st in Raleigh. They were fantastic! They have proven they can perform without Steven, but I would love to see him back with the band at some point. It was my first time seeing them though.

  • Ed is what stirs the coffee for BNL, but Steven will be missed - Their banter on stage will likely suffer, but will still love the band - Ed is genius

  • good

  • This host is very respectful . And it seems like Page can asily return some day.Seems like this matter is well handled. Is this Canadian grace?

  • @mhinc25 OMG this turd (SHURE75) is a Rush fan aswell *shakes head & starts to cry*

  • I just saw Barenaked Ladies live tonight, they were spectacular! Page has a well known drug addicted and screwed the group over too many times to count. I'm glad they parted ways. The group is better as just the four. But hey that's just my thoughts.

  • @rocknroller1986 I saw them friday at red rocks, they were still funny. and Ed did a good job covering the songs page sang, but I page has such a distinct voice it just wasn't the same. I hope he eventually tours with them once more so I can see BNL at their finest.

  • They are good with or without him! BNL for life!!

  • Who the hell is Barenaked ladies?

  • @SHURE75 You are obviously an American. It shows based on your lack of music from another Country. Bare Naked Ladies are from Ontario, Canada. Ontario being a Province, not a state. And I see you are a RUSH fan, guess what, they are Canadian as well! MORON!

  • @mhinc25 ....... and you are most certainly Canadian. No "general" sense of humour followed by a quick knee-jerk, low rent reaction to anything you precieve to be American.

OF COURSE i know who the fucking BNL's are!. Have many of their cd's and have seen them live a few times , WAS just joking around.

    Lighten up hockeypuck.

  • I'm seeing BNL tomorrow night here in Chicago. Really wondering how it'll be. Steven was such a huge part of the music and show.

  • Same story with Lennon/Mcartney.

  • the band is a JOKE without Steve - he WAS the band ... listen to their current tripe - HE MADE THEM ROCK - COME BACK TO US STEVIE!!!!

  • I didn't realize that The people who sang the Theme tune for "The Big Bang Theory"

were a band but I looked up the lyrics to the song and found the other songs by them and they are awesome!

  • I think why it bothers the fans so much is because the BNL are a 'REAL' band. They are down to earth and fan picked up on that. They were the 'average joe' band that all the fans felt like were good friends.

  • We will all miss Steven Page, he and his band have brought Canadian music so far from where it was before they started. Looking forward to his solo music however!

  • Not only do I adore Steve so much, I also respect the hell out of him.

  • Reminds me of when Peter, Paul and Mary broke up after Peter Yarrow exposed himself to a young groupie.......they, too, gave every reason for the break-up except what was the truth, which was, the incident hurt their image. Steven Page is giving every reason for breaking up with the BNL other than the actual one, which was he was charged with cocaine possession, and the BNL are a band with a clean image. And Jian Ghomeshi is letting him get away with it. Shame, Jian. The truth will set you free.

  • he deserved to be released, they were supposed to play a childrens family gig and he was to druged out and they had to cancel.Pretty sad i think.his talent shouldn't be wasted on drugs!

  • Its about his EGO people.

  • why is it that so many people who become big turn to drugs. I think Steven leaving will help keep the image of The Barenaked Ladies clean

  • @panzerducky It's pretty simple actually... (Good) musicians are genearally emotionally out of whack, sensitive, depressed sometimes... which is great for writing excellent songs but sucks for day to day living... Drugs make you forget about it and feel a lot better, so musicians find them helpful and end up getting hooked...

  • miss you steve

  • traitor...

  • you light up my room steven... my office that is...lol

  • This dude needs to get his shit together and get back with BNL and write some killer songs.

  • @culwin he left for a reason you have to respect that

  • I love Steven Page!! I wish he'd go back to Bare Naked Ladies :(

  • say no to drugs.......................

  • This is so hard to listen to because it's like my best friend telling me why we're not friends anymore. I saw him last summer play just alone and just saw the other four play. It's so hard. "You Ran Away" kills me. Every time. I don't want to say that it's about this, but I can't imagine it not being.

Steven Page, I wish you the best. I'm definitely still grieving, but thanks for the high five last summer.

  • Steven if you read these remarks, please try to contact me.

  • I smell reunion tour. Big bucks.

  • Steve stop doing drugs and get back to Barenaked Ladies before i kick your ass damnit!!!

  • Why does this guy have a radio show? He is like the Jimmy Fallon of Canadian radio. After you listen and watch you ask yourself: "Why does he have a show again?" I really wish Page didn't leave the band. I am a life long BNL fan. It will never be the same without him. But, I do like their new song.

  • they will never survive without him they just don't have the voices. there new cd without him sucked (ed )dos'nt have the voice he is good back up thats it

  • They put a childerens CD out, then a week later he gets busted for hookers and blow......he did the right thing by leaving the band....when the heat cools down he forsure will make a return.

  • A very classy guy..as is his former bandmates...my utmost respect to them all ..I wish them all success in the future...BNL!!!!!

  • definitely saw him last summer at winnipeg folk fest! he was so good!

  • You need to change in order to grow. Keep clean stephen and good luck with the next part of your life

  • please get back with the band and rock some new hits.

  • not a douche. you guys are out to lunch

  • oh, did i say that i think he is a douche?

  • @travenb doing coke and writing songs for kids for the win! something new for me to aspire to.

  • Have a fruit roll-up! Aren't you gonna eat it? OH FOR CHRISTS SAKE!

    Ed: "Lady, you're an idiot!"

haha BNL was such a HUUUGE part of my growing up back in the 90's. I saw them in 1999 @ Pine Knob, and all of the sudden these two drunk chicks just started dancing with me! Unfortunately, later in the night, so did a fat drunk guy.... That was also the night I got into an 18+ area of then-Pine Knob. In 1999 I was 12.

  • For now it appears that this is amicable and I really do hope it stays that way. Steven was classy in this interview and the remaining members have been in theirs. The fact is, BNL is bigger than any one person and if the guys give it a real try, the band will succeed. They all have so much to be proud of and I wish them all the best. I've been with them since Gordon and I will continue to follow them.

  • i am so upset that steve left them, but maybe it really was the best thing for him, not having all the pressure. its scaring me how skinny he is in thins interview, though, does anyone else see that?

  • The new CD at the end of the month will be the deciding factor. I see them splitting if it goes badly. I've been with them since the beginning as well but I saw them slipping after EtE. I'd hate for them to go down but. However, I foresee him going back if they don't break up though. I don't think he or them will do too well apart.

  • @mizzhotty447

LOL same i had some music quiz-.-

  • lol notice in the commercial the ginger runs away

  • well he shouldn't have done any drugs....
