@glenwoofit Almost there. I think you mean Tommy Flowers. :-) So Colossus is the first computer, ENIAC came a few years after. :-) Both important in history to how we got to where we are today.
@deepblue69uk Yep your right i just read my comment it was ment to say Tommy Flowers. And I agree with you Both important in history to how we got to where we are today, It's just ashame for Tommy and the people that made Colossus that the world couldn't hear about their work while they were alive....
@glenwoofit Tommy Flowers did see the rebult Colossus being built and switched on. It's just that more information has come out recently about what work they did and how much they contributed to WWII. The fact that all those involved were not congratulated and appreciated as they should have been is a great shame. A few of the original staff actually show people around Bletchley Park. :-) Also, every year I think they have meetups of all the old staff that are still alive.
skip another 50 years, we'll have a netbook, and a high end laptop behind the glass... "these were considered a milestone in computing mobility at the time". and we can watch some movies like avatar to see where we are headed, that is if u'd rather not read the academic research papers from computing sciences departments of educational institutions across the world. and blogs of engineers at R&D departments of some major companies.

Nobby Flowers designed and built the worlds first digital programable computer in the UK years before this! It shortened the second world by years.

Isn't part of that computer in the Smithsonian, and didn't they save a small part of it at the college to use for demonstration purposes?
