Impressive. The front doors hardly ripple in the head on test & you can tell the doors will open. Makes me feel a bit better about facing the M25.

The head restraints are horrible on the Madzd6 though.

It's a shame because Volvo and Saab have had active head restraints for like 15 years now.

wow the front just got demolished. I don't think the body is as strong as the accord nor the altima and malibu. Even the skid pad came off from the front crash test. not that good. from the test, i think the body is too weak causing it to be dangerous in a crash.

@v1per808 Well, most manufacturers make their cars so they perform good on crash tests, sadly. Only a few of them make cars to be safe in every situation. (Renault, Volvo, Audi, BMW, Mercedes etc)

@v1per808 The fact that renault is working with nissan has nothing to with renaults safety. Renault IS the safest car manufacturer in the world, not volvo like many people think. This is a fact. Renault was the first manufacturer to produce a car that got 5 stars in the euroncap and is constantly having cars that are safest in their classes. And yes, all european cars are safe. 90% of ALL new european cars, even the smallest ones get 5 stars on euroncap. Only a few cheap ones get 4 stars.

@derbigpr500 yea but acutally if ur in a 60 mph crash its a whole different story. i doubt any car can protect us very well at a 60 mph crash, but renault is working on the design of nissan, so i think part of the safety features will be added.

I bought this car in 2008, I feel confident when driving with my 1 year old son. Lots of bad asian drivers and drunk indians where I live. :P

It all looks bad because the front is all a big crumple zone that's supposed to absorb the force of an impact, therefore transferring less of the impact to the passengers inside. These tests are focused on passenger survivability, and not a car's ability to stay rigid in a crash.

I was crashed by a big car from the pilot side of a Mazda 6 in taiwan, it was a very spectacular crash and i didnt have any injury, this car is very safe !

its supposed to do that in order for all crumple zones to take the stress of an accident so the passengers suffer as little g as possible while making sure the metal doesn't crushing anyway as to trap the passenger where limbs will be lost.

both side impacts were really good, the front was ... err i seen many better, plus the rear car panels got warped from the front impact i never seen that before, think front can be improved? :S

This test was done at higher speed than made by NHTSA, other cars in pole test were wrecked out.

Please go watch the video on Avensis again. The A-pillar almost/nearly bent at 0:23.

A little bit faster, the end result of Avensis will be very different. Mazda 6's A-pillar is obviously much stronger. I own neither cars. Just observe and be objective.
