yo buddy u make it look so easy and it also seem to me that u dont need any more practice man.......yo if i was at your level on the bass, i wouldnt feel down on myself ever again......
@orangered8 Im sure you would, when it comes to music and your instrument, you can never ever learn everything possible. There are people who have been playing for over 20-30 (ETC) years who to us seem like to the greatest musicians ever, but to themselves feel like they are not good enough and like there is still much more to learn.
As humans, Once we get comfortable with a level we want to naturally move to the next one because we know it will be better, and this is a life long process.
lol..the real name is sam .......but thanks man.....im doing good right now, i just wish i could play like u mannn but i know it takes a lot of time and patience to get that good...
yoooo buddy im one your biggest fans bro, loving the bass and the techinque's man but whats the name of those black strings on that mtd cause im planning to got those string on my bass, they look so raw on your mtd bass man.
@orangered8 whats up man....thanks for the kind words...they are La Bella deep talkin bass strings...black nylon...there really nice...it brings a whole new sound
Going home and pull out the MTD tonight after this clip... i been on the KSD 5 for the last week or so for practicing...both basses sound great with my new set up. I know Bubby is a GK guy but "Feel My Bottom" SWR is still my choice for right now. Pre Fender!!! I been playing Tobias basses since i got my first back in 2000. i have had four since!
well its have very little highs and all bass and nice dose of mids....not to much....and of course the MTD and GK combined is deadly lol... i love that bass its my first MTD i ever got
Bubby... I love your playing... i been trying to get back out on the road and gig myself but not a lot of artist look for musicians down here in Alabama. LOL. 2 ?'s...your speed is phenominal... i think i have pretty fast fingers but you accuracy with your speed..how do you do it... and is the action very high or low on your bass.. or somwhere in between?
Awesome groove Bubby! You kill it on the Gospel Chopz video too!
I love how humble you are, some people with fame become big headed, and you keep your cool. Its awesome, I love reading through your comments back to other people on here.
Im a semi self taught bassist, and seeing guys like you give me hope. I do plan to go to school for music though, but thats dissing on you for not! At all.
It's funny. I'm originally an alto sax player. But Im also tryin to be a producer and a bassist too...lol Been making beats for the last 3 years or so and been playin bass about a year on and off, but getting more serious about shedding now... I've been playin bass at my church (where I've been a sax player fir the last 4 years..lol) I saw you on the GospelChops preview video. Anthony played at my church for a minute. Im tryin to find a reasonably priced bass (under 600) what can you recommend?
I know what you mean. I just don't have the dough to dish out on a 200 bass right now... But the bass I have is a total piece of s**t, so I just want an upgrade that wouldn't frustrate me as much...lol I was thinking of Ibanez SR 505 with mahogany body and Bartolinis. It sounds like a good deal for $580.
The church is in Boston (Dorchester part) called Greater Love Tabernacle. We got another sax player here that knows Andrew Gouche, LA cat, Clinton Cromwell, u know him?
none other than the great Andrew Gouche... he really took me under his wing when i was about 15 and if it wasnt't for GOD blessin me to have a friend like him i would have never had a chance to do most of the things in my life.. he is even the reason why i play MTD basses ... Andrew is the man and i love that dude to death not just because he has helped me out so much but just because he is a real and true friend and great person and a mentor to me and many others all around the world.
I was just asking because I am a self taught musician and somebody told me that the only way to become an in demand musician was if i go to school for music. Thank you for answering my questions though. You have showed that there is hope for me as well.
bro there will always be hope ..there are millions of bass players that didn't go to school and taught themselves just like u and me. dont ever let any body destroy your dreams ...people have tried to say things to me...like this for example " u wont ever get a gig if you play more than 4 strings, and u need a fender'.. that was all a lie and just to let you know i have a 7 string piccolo MTD and i play it all the time lol...and no fenders all MTD...all that matters is can u play the music
MTD beats fender everyday in my book. All my favorite bass players play MTD except Thaddeus Tribbett. Justin Raines, Tim Rawbiz, Andrew Gouche, and You. But anyway thanks for the encouragement. I'm gon get back on my grind right now.
yeah, i hear you. i'm 17 know and i'm offered a lot of gigs. but my mom prohibits me to do any gigs before i've done my homework. i hope to get to musichighschool and be a music teacher so if my musiccareer fails or i'm starting a family still have something to get back on. its hard to find any motivation on school in such times and just go home to teach yourself or do a gig.
i hear you, i'm 17 yo and get offered a lot of gigs. my moms prohibits me to do any gigs before i finished my homework. i'm hoping to go to musichighschool and become a teacher so i have something to get back on when i get a family or my musiccareer fails. i've heard musicians complain that they lost their groove/soul on those schools? what's your view on it, Bubby?
well school is always great any way you look at it because its great to learn some theory ... but just remember its important to learn how to think do things like playing by ear and really knowing your instrument and being soulful has a lot to do with playing what you hear and what you feel. and learning how to play what you hear and feel is the true key to being soulful because its all about how you express yourself .. never let theory block your soulfulness..
Very Cool Bubby, I was pleasantly surprised to see that you had your own page on the Tube!! Ready for The World, now YOU!!! Flint, Michigan puttin it down!!!
