  • the only thing i wished that george lucas didn't do in episode I was kill darth maul. he was such an epic character + imagine obi - wan trying to track down darth maul in episodes II and III then maby going to the dark side or something like that, it would just have made the storys that much better. p.s even though episodes I, II and III were suppose to be about anikan it would have been awsome if oni - wan had a proper story as well

  • I'm sorry but all of you still don't get why George Lucas did the 1,2, and 3. He wanted to let every one know how DARTH VADER CAME ABOUT, so you have to start at the very begining to show how Anikin became Darth Vader, but I know assholes like you don't get that. I like Jar Jar binks and every character in the Star Wars movies, you poeple really suck when you don't get what the movie is really about and how it ties with the Star wars 4, 5, and 6. That is very sad.

  • Compared to Sy Snootles, Jar Jar is not that bad.

  • Get out of here.

  • that is exactly true goldentusk, you are soo right about that :)

  • yes, we have all stepped in poo, and you just stepped in it making this video

  • I hate you but I like you so damn much!

  • @SuperDuperFett You're talking about the movies, right?

  • @Goldentusk I'm talking about you. You made so many terrific points that I'm forced to agree with when I take a step back and really look at the whole Star Wars controversy and who the community is as a whole. You did a terrific job of parodying that other video and making your points in this one. You even followed the structure of the argument perfectly.

  • i love Jesus he is my lord and savior. no where in the bible does it say he stepped in poo. if he did he would have said "ugh i stepped in poo." hilarious its very clear your using the gifts God gave you with excellence. dont know if you believe in God but he believes in you. if you have run from him and enjoyed your freedom to be blind to his reality he doesnt care. just stop and turn arround ( the definition of repentence ) and you will be aye okay with him again. good job.

  • bwaahahaha!!! awesome!!!

  • So, did anyone else read the article about George Lucas removing the first 3 movies from the actual lore?

  • @CQCDeath hilarious. I think he reported in an interview that the real lore is The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network

  • @Goldentusk Not gonna lie, I loved The Clone Wars on CN.

  • Comment removed

  • episode 1 was amazing actually , george lucas shows part of star wars lores that we never seen in any other episode and they visit the most planets compared to any other star wars movie. I dont understand how people don't like it cause there is so much to it.

  • Two Words: Han Solo

  • egon spengler

  • Yep, complex political and economic subplots and dismemberment. That's a kid's movie alright!

  • jesus steping in poo lol

  • Dont you dare compare C3PO to Jar Jar Binks

  • @zombiefan011 C3PO was annoying as hell, and worst of all he has a predominant appearance in all 6 movies.

  • I was 10 when I saw the Phantom Menace and I loved it. Now I'm 23 and I recognise it to be crap.

I was 5 when I was the Empire strikes Back and I loved it. Now I'm 23 and it's still legendary.

I'm as much to blame for Empire's awesomeness as I am for Phantom's awfulness.

  • Jewish Dr. Seuss

  • @EmSeeSquared wait, because of ONE GAME?

Try KOTOR, KOTOR 2, The Old Republic Online game, Force Unleashed both 1 and 2.

Its not one game, and personally i love all said games (except FU 2...way too short.)

Point being, those games are STRICTLY GAMES, they have NOTHING to do with Cannon storyline, yet Lucas decided to make it so. Now there are Two Star War's Universes. One Lucas Created and is trying to ruin now, and the Real one.

  • C3PO > JAR JAR BINKS... in terms of annoyance.

  • Wonderfully said in my opinion. I was actually 7 when I saw the prequels (6 for the OT) & I loved every minute of it... Just because it's Star Wars, I'll love it... I'm now 14 & I see a lot of stuff as though I was still a 6 year old when it comes to imagination like this. I mean I do like multi layer plots & such like Harry Potter, but there's something about Star wars that takes you back to being a little 6 year old dreaming you were a Jedi. It's timeless...

  • I mean, for me, the dialogue for the prequels wasn't that great. The lack of actual sets (especially the lack of actual sets), and lazy camera work also really took me out of the story.

  • Red Letter Media provides one of the best defenses to why the prequels were just not that good in comparison to the Originals.

  • My god...I see so clear now...

  • I'm 41 been around since the 1st movie. Remember all the hype about it. and guess what. I Love the prequels as much as the originals. The only diffrence is the technology used to make them. Guess what else. If Lucas could have made the originals with this tech. He would have. We would have seen Grander scales of all the planets. Endor would have looked more like Kassyk (Spl?) you know Chewie's home world. Bespin Might have been alot bigger floating city than it is now. and etc.........

  • You hit the nail on the head Goldentusk! Thank You for this.

  • watch a real review some one please, the one from red letter media(think its called that) is the best.

  • The film industry was different in 1999 than in 1977, the expectations about films were different but some people won't acknowledge it. Some fans expected the new trilogy to be as raw and as dark as the old trilogy. Sorry guys, but that's the way it is. War times are dark and peace times are light. Deal with it. And saying that Lucas is retarded or that he is the greatest danger for the saga is totally unfair. I like the new trilogy and ain't my fault I was born after the old one.

  • The real ''fans'' are the first fans, the original fans that didn't fall for this soulless scam. How are they destroying star wars, you think they have more control of star wars than lucas? They can't even get originals cleaned up like special edition without the cg crap. The ''fanboys'' are the ones that buy this bull.

  • @BWGgy Really! I'm almost 41 and have been a fan from the begining. I have a 6 year old son who is a Star Wars Crazy freak just like me. But guess what. He Loves the originals, the prequals, Lego Star Wars, Clone wars. He loves it all. He came into it from a new perspective than us. But I see his love for it just the same as us Old Origianl Star Wars guys. So Don't dis the new generation for not loving Star Wars the same as us.

  • thankk youuuu, finally glad to see someone showing how ungrateful the fans can be, we asked for more, and when we got it, we bitched, and frankly no matter how goood he would have made the movie, there would always be people who say they didnt like it, why because, most fanboys dont like change

  • Ever see the Plinkett reviews? The storyline doesn't even make *sense* in these movies!

  • So True

  • ugh! i stepped in poo! POOOOOO

  • Nice poem but I respectfully disagree. The sequels didn't fail because his fans expected a lot, they failed because; a) Lucas is a shitty writer/director, b) no one who worked on the films that questioned him lasted long enough to make any real change, c) Lucas was more interested in making money than he was continuing the story of Star Wars, d) Lucas never intended Star Wars to become what it did and secretly resents its cult status because now he (falsely) believes he's trapped by it.

  • cont. - Besides it seems silly to blame the fans because they had high expectations. Should they have had low expectations? Should they automatically expect crap before they see the film just so the creator won't feel pressured? If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen. The prequels are terrible, not just as Star Wars films but as films in general and even though fan whining is annoying you can't claim that as the reason the movies sucked. That honor can only belong to the filmmakers.

  • @NuGhost An excellent point. The Prequels are bad bacause of bad writing and bad directing, not because of the fanboy. If anyone is a flaming fanboy, it's this guy. For all that matters, Lucas can make a film about two pieces of shit in a trash bin and people like this Poet here would defend it just because title says "STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SHITS". People who hate Prequels have strong reasons to do so, people who like Prequels just like shiny objects dangled in front of them.

  • @Malaikat31 Hell, while I'm at it, I'd also like to say that the whole argument he makes about the movies being for kids (that whole see it through the eyes of a 7-year-old line) is bullshit. Yes because when I think children's movies I think drawn out scenes of political dialogue at the Space UN. Lucas apologists need to get over themselves and their love of this guy. Loving Star Wars is no excuse for loving shit, and while these aren't the worst films ever made they are still shit.

  • @NuGhost Like the way you think, sir :) I found the "it's made for the kids" argument stupid as hell too. I mean, why does the "it's for kids" have to mean it's retarded? Since when is that an excuse for shitty story, shitty dialogue and shitty characters? I mean, Kung Fu Panda is for kids, and it's a great movie. Again, anyone can like whatever they want, but the fact remains that Prequels are badly made movies, enjoyed only by very small kids or by fanatic and simple-minded fanboys.

  • @Malaikat31 But the movies weren't poorly written or directed... So...

  • @lazermunky25 Yes, they are. Ask anyone who has even the basic idea about filmmaking, directing, editing or screenwriting. Or better, watch RedLetterMedia's in-depth review of the prequels, they're over 1 hour long each.

  • @Malaikat31 I have film experience. And someone doin an in-depth review does not make it true. I have years of journalistic experience under my belt and understand reviewing, and an opinion alters what points are and aren't focused. The plot isn't perfect, but anything with a plot has holes. To many, the anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion" is one of the great narratives of our time, but it has TONS of plot holes. Movies like Star Wars are about fun, so have fun, and enjoy the film, guys.

  • @lazermunky25 Wow, you must be really lame journalist if you: a) Think Evangelion has valid plot holes; b) Think the Prequels are "about fun". I'm sorry if you can enjoy such a flawed film, but what the heck. If your only argument for objectively badly made film is "it's about fun", I can pretty much deduce your taste and critical thinking. I won't spending any more time on this discussion.

  • @Malaikat31 I won't spending any time on your poor grammar either, but the point is simply that films are about fun in the first place. Or at least in the fantasy genre that Star Wars falls into, the whole point was to create an entertaining and enjoyable experience. And I never said anything more about Evangelion apart from the fact that there are plot holes in the first place. Does a certain unexplained "lance" ring a bell?

You want a bad movie, watch Transformers, not Star Wars.

  • @lazermunky25 Man I'm getting back to the party late. Anyway I find it curious that you justify your claim that the films are well made and well written simply by stating, "I have film experience." So? I cannot confirm that this claim is even true but for arguments sake let's say it is. What's your point? Ed Wood had film experience too and his movies are widely accepted as terrible. If you like the prequels that's fine. No one can tell you you're wrong for an opinion. That said...

  • ...anyone who has studied film theory and film criticism can break down Lucas' films to their base and find a rushed, half-hearted, lazy narrative. He attempts to glaze over this w/ flashy visual effects but all that has served to do is further expose the narrative flaws. The prequels lacked depth, grit, or relatability. (There is an old expression about the futility of polishing a turd that comes to mind.) They are too sterile, to alien, and too corporate to be any good.

  • @NuGhost most of what you just posted is subjective, take your "study film theory and film criticism and shove it up your loose ass

  • @NuGhost except Ed Wood had no budget, bad actors, terrible skill as a director, and was making his films in the 1950's and 60's

  • You forgot to mention that he also created "Howard the Duck"..

  • @RockyBalboa211 actually, Howard the Duck was created by Steve Gerber and Val Mayerik for Marvel Comics. Lucas however DID produce the Howard film, but that's not quite the same thing as sitting in the director's chair or writing the script.

  • @EmSeeSquared: I had no idea.. well, I won't hold that against him anymore..

  • something else I forgot to mention, and I am very much a star wars junkie. some say the midicholorians ruins the force.no it does not. the force is still a mystical energy even talk about prophecies of the force? anyone? well i the originals it was said, my father has, it I have it my sister, runs in families? well midichlorians simply are something that explain how strong someone is with the force, not replacing it.

  • @Marutkowski THANK YOU!! i've been explaining this for years! finally someone else gets it!

  • I don't see how it's any better to tell people why they're wrong for not liking a movie. I understand some of the things people say about the prequels goes too far, but if someone doesn't like a movie, it's not because they "can't see the movies through the eyes of a 7-year-old" or whatever nonsense. Maybe they don't like CGI for various reasons (uncanny valley, for instance), or the acting, or the direction, or the dialogue, or the retcons, or any of the above.

  • @mrmacross There is no retcon.

  • @spelhornan In Return of the Jedi, Luke asked Leia about their real mother, because Luke had "no memory of her," and he "never knew her." In Revenge of the Sith, their mother died shortly after giving birth to the twins. Unless you're going to tell me Leia remembered that their mother "was very beautiful. Kind, but...sad" when Leia was a few days old, and Luke didn't, then that's a retcon.

  • @mrmacross When Leia said she remembered her mother, she was probably talking about her adoptive Organa stepmother. Adoptive parents can lie to you about being your real parents, you know.

  • @SGRev1 So when Luke asked, "Leia... do you remember your mother? Your real mother?" we are supposed to assume that Leia started talking about her adoptive mother she thought was her biological mother, and not her biological mother?

It's either a retcon, or viewers are supposed to play semantic gymnastics every time something isn't quite consistent from movie to movie. It's not enjoyable to have to parse the meaning of every line instead of reading into it straightforwardly.

  • @mrmacross I guess. Like I said, adoptive parents can lie to you about being your real parents. After all, in the original 1977 Star Wars, when Leia mentioned her father in the hologram, she was most likely referring to her Organa stepfather, who would later die when his home planet gets blown up.

  • @mrmacross It's because they are force sensitive. And if you pay close attention you will notice that Luke's eyes are closed when he is born, while Leia's are open. So I don't consider it strange at all if Leia has a faint memory, some blurry images of her crying mother in Jedi, considering her connection to the force. Do your homework, sir.

  • @spelhornan Now I know that infants can't see very well. But hey, it's a fantasy, taking place in a galaxy far, far away.

  • @spelhornan You know, would you really have thought that when you watched Return of the Jedi in 1982 or whenever it came out? I know I didn't.

I guess it's possible. After all, it's a fictional universe with mystical powers like the Force, but why do you have to micro-analyze scenes to that level to make things make sense? That's no fun at all.

  • HOnestly, if you had not seen Star Wars itself as a child when it first came out and got awed by it as an adult you can see it is truly just as bad writing or good writing as you want. it is very corny, same thing. and btw, lucas DID release everyting in its original form on DVD I have it.

  • Goldentusk, you said it. Just look at some of the negative comments you got, they are doing EXACTLY what you said in the video. I can honestly tell you this: I am a huge huge star wars fan and have been since it came out in 1977. I know almost every line in most of the movies while I am watching it. I have seen people say "you raped my childhood" oh boo hoo. NOw, I am much older and for those that talk about poor writing and all this.

  • unsubscribed

  • Lucas had almost complete control over the production of the prequels and they came out terribly. The writing is atrocious, and the acting is stale because of his lack of directing.

There comes a point where you need to let a story go not keep milking it for more money. This can be seen with the constant rereleasing of the original trilogy. And he obviously doesn't care about his fans because he still refuses to release the original versions which is what everyone wants.

  • No one has a problem with the story.... what we hate is the actors and jar jar binks. That's it. Anakin(The biggest damn character in the newest three movies) was played by a very bad actor, it wasn't the dialogue or the story, it was his bad acting that totally ruined the movies for most ppl. You can suck Lucas' dick all you want, but the fact is they were bad, and it's because of the actor. We aren't mad at Lucas. Granted, he did allow him to be cast.

  • I like the prequels better.

  • I never asked for more.

  • I think the Jesus part was a bit too much. But still very well done!

And a big THANK YOU to George Lucas who has devoted his life to a world full of Adventure, Action and Romance. The World of Star Wars! :))

  • @GemanAussie100 The Jesus bit is an omage to the video that inspired this type of video.

  • One word: midichlorians. If someone doesn't have enough imagination to picture a mystical Force without scientific explanation that someone shouldn't write Star Wars movies.

  • Touched my heart! ;(

  • ...i`ve watched this about 20 times, and i havent really payed attention to the poem, ive just been looking at his AWSOME HAIR

  • You are the most righteous man ever!!!! I love episode 1 it was fantastic this is by far the best star wars vid on YouTube! You rock man

  • True

  • Oh yeah, that thing at the end, that TOTALLY happened in the Bible

(for people like my sister: I'm being sarcastic. My sister-and others I know-would think I'm being sirius.)

  • you sun of a bich star wars rocks

  • The quote at the end killed me.

  • Who's ready for February 10?!?!? :)

  • he rymes so much :P

  • this guy sucks eggs

  • Say what you want, I like Ep. 1 (well... ep 1 not very much), 2 and 3 and I am not some funboy just looking for special effects: it's just that I am not a purist

  • @LordZaamus OMG I AM NOW GOING TO CALL YOU AN IDIOT JUST BECAUSE YOUR OPINION IS DIFFERENT THAN MINE!!!! I AM BETTER THAN YOU IN EVERY WAY SHAPE AND FORM!!

  • As a side note, now that Lucas is going back to his low-budget, experimental roots, I sincerely hope he will be getting back into the director's chair more often. He's a fine producer, but I think he's much better when he gets into the more creative side of things.

  • As for the rerelease of The Phantom Menace, I will absolutely be there right away to reexperience the single most important movie-viewing of my young life.

However, I will not see it in 3D, because I do not like 3D conversions at all. I was going to give this one the benefit of the doubt, but I saw the trailer in 3D and....yeah, it still looks bad.

Thank goodness for select 2D theaters. :)

  • How are the prequels suppose to be for kids when it includes politics and mass murder.

  • @coolcatkim22 you mean like how the original film had a bunch of imperials sitting at a table discussing politics? and both trilogies have mass murders.

  • @EmSeeSquared Hey, I never said the original trilogy was suppose to be for kids.

  • @coolcatkim22 cuz the thing is, the originals WERE meant for kids. think all those toys were meant for adults?

  • @EmSeeSquared Your evidence is that if a movie has toys made based off it, that makes it a children's film. So, Robocop, Aliens, Rambo, ect,ect are all kids movies. Actually, by that logic, what movie isn't for kids.

P.S. Lots of adults play with toys, trust me, I know, I checked.

  • @coolcatkim22 to be honest, i was always FLOORED that they made toys on those movies. those were all R-rated. that shows irresponsibility toward the toy companies. however, for the case of star wars, yes, i know adults play with toys, i'm one of them. but that doesn't mean that's who the toys were aimed at, especially not in the 70s and 80s. and it's not just toys, but storybooks, breakfast cereals, bed sheets, dolls, saturday morning cartoons, underoos, all kids stuff.

  • @EmSeeSquared Do you think that Robocop and Rambo toys weren't aimed for kids? The thing you have to understand is this: Appealing to everybody makes more money then appeal to just a few. That's why there are all these kids products made for Star Wars, because it will probably sell.

Star Wars was suppose to be geared towards adults in the beginning but now more characters being bright and colourful brought it for kids. However, he can't lose his adult group so the dark tones remain.

  • @coolcatkim22 Star Wars was supposed to be aimed at adults in the beginning? Funny, because according to studio execs and everyone working on the film, they all saw it as an idiotic kids film.

as for the Robocop and such toys, again, i was always floored that they marketed those to kids. i'll admit i had some Robocop figures, but when i got them, i hadn't even heard of the movies yet, nor did i have any idea they were R-rated. that's one way to brainwash kids for ya.

  • @EmSeeSquared Everyone on the film thought that it was for kids? Every single one. Where are you getting your information from? And if it was meant for kids, then why was they're no moral and tons of death?

What does you getting shocked by toys like that have anything to do with this? Okay, you were shocked, that doesn't mean that this isn't common place. I think that "it's a children's movie because it has toys based on it" is a pretty moot point.

  • @coolcatkim22 if you watch Empire of Dreams, very few people working on the original film had faith in it, calling it "rubbish" and a "kids film".

as for the toys, i'm mainly talking about when the original trilogy originally came out. all the toys for the first 3 films were marketed for kids. it's different today with 20+ year franchises, where the toys are geared with adults in mind as well, but back then it was mainly kids stuff.

  • *sigh of relief* Thank you so much for this video.

I grew up with the prequels in much the same way the generation before me grew up with the original trilogy. George Lucas became my idol, and without his films as influence I might not have discovered my tremendous love of the cinema and gone into filmmaking myself.

  • @VirtualBoy500 I've always been understanding and in fact glad of the fact that different people have different opinions on different films, but spending so much time online has forced me to listen to vicious attacks on the man and his movies which brightened my childhood. This is one of the very, very few videos I've seen to be fair and kind in this subject.

To most people, this might just be a funny parody video, but to me it's like a breath of the freshest air after half a decade of smoke.

  • seriously is that your real hair?? holy shit!

  • @michael616joaquin lol. That can not be his real hair. It has to be a wig. The hair looks too...wiggy.

  • I actually enjoyed the prequel trilogy, if only for the lightsaber duels.

  • You say it man, you say it...

  • True,true....

  • THANK YOU! This is what I tell my friends who hated Episodes 1-3!

  • My biggest issue with how the prequels were portrayed, were not the way which the Jedi were betrayed.

It was how the Jedi arts and general technology had seemingly switched chronology.

Instead of displaying models in stop-motion, it's now action made in computers upon completion.

It's not a bad thing in itself, according to myself.

But models brought a certain sense of realism, and CGI rarely can bridge the schism.

Why does the older stuff, look newer than those up to snuff?

  • @BFCrusader And why would combat back in the day, be more colorful and beautiful than the modern fray?

The Jedi fight with power and grace, while Luke and Vader had their own pace.

The 'older' era had spectacular battles while by comparison, their duels barely rattles.

Then there's the stormtroopers, who had their bloopers.

The older era had visors, allowing them to shoot any1 they met.

But upon donning the newer models, Luke said "I can't see a thing in this helmet!"

  • @BFCrusader That's not to say the prequels were bad, saying such a thing would be a tad sad.

It just strikes me as strange, that they didn't have less range

between what was new and old, it certainly would have had me sold.

To be fair, there is a certain flair. For we can see similarities and certain familiarities.

From walkers to destroyers, the difference is just their employers.

Annoying was Jar-Jar Binks, that is what mesa thinks.

C-3PO and R2-D2 were great, which is a good trait.

  • Comment removed

  • @BFCrusader That is all of my thoughts I wanted to share. Should you agree with them, could you a thumbs-up spare?

  • @BFCrusader Jedi where betrayed like that. Fans did not create star wars. Infact, Movies are always cannon unlike third party books.

  • @SanguinetheWOlf actually, in terms of Star Wars, there's several different branches of canon, depending on which you decide to stick with. C-canon, G-canon, etc. It's Star TREK that's agreed upon that anything outside the shows and movies is non-canon.

  • *sniff* oh god, what have i done? forgive me george *starts crying*

*remembers the force unleashed games, the holiday special, the special editions, and how most of the focus of the new clone wars show is on anakin, obi wan, and ahsoka*...

    ...fuck you george

  • @commander144

    a) ok, whether Force Unleashed games are good or not is opinion-based, i've heard good AND bad things about them, so that's up in the air what makes you think he personally worked on them anyway?

    b) Lucas had little to no involvement on the Holiday Special, and hates it himself, so putting that in there is moot.

    c) no comment about the special editions

    d) as to the Clone Wars show, see a)

  • Since when did "child-like wonderment" involve long boring senate meetings about trade routes?

  • @SilentTom since when did "child-like wonderment" involve boring council meetings about dissolving the senate?

  • @EmSeeSquared Yeah... that was my point.

  • @SilentTom you seem to misunderstand my sarcasm. i was referring to the ORIGINAL film.

  • I never hated the Prequels as much as everyone. I still think they are okay. Better than the originals? No. But okay films? Yes.

  • @xFIRERUSHx Revenge of the Sith is the second best part of the saga imo. Empire is still number one.

  • the so called "fans" are destroying star wars. not lucas. with the prequels he gave us the second best installment in the entire saga, and that is revenge of the sith. empire is still number one for me.

thank you for everything, george. we, the real fans are forever grateful.

  • @Hakakedjan: Revenge of the Sith was a glorified video game advert. It lacked subtlety and character development like the originals, and reduced the character of Anakin Skywalker to a whiny selfish brat. I don't blame George Lucas because George Lucas was never the best writer or director to begin with, I do blame the people around him that did not place any limits around him and his "brilliant" ideas.

  • @Hakakedjan I agree, I love the prequels, and I think that the jaded fans need to suck it up, any Star Wars is GOOD Star Wars, so long as our boy George is in charge.

  • @Hakakedjan I challenge you to make less sense.

  • don't care if it's a parody or something but this is so true. I for my part love the 3 new movies just or even more as the old ones.

  • Totally agree...

  • @Dartpaw86 as an artist, i totally get what Lucas is doing in going back to the originals. Many a time have i looked back at a piece of my art and said "hmm, i can fix this, i can make it better" and done just that. Lucas is no different. Whether you agree with the changes is opinion-based, but it's not rape. Rape would be if he did it to someone else's film.

  • @EmSeeSquared I never said he raped the film, I said he raped my childhood. There's a difference.

  • @Dartpaw86 how so?

  • @EmSeeSquared sigh... when you grow up with something you really really enjoy. And then the creator not only alters huge chunks of it but wants the original version to fade into obscurity. (George Lucas said that) it kind of destroys the joy you had with it.

I mean I love Star Wars, and still respect it, and it's his movie to change all he wants but it's just painful that it was practically my childhood he was rewriting as well...

    It's hard to explain.

  • @Dartpaw86 did he or did he not rerelease the originals in 2006? i'm all for preserving them too, but this whole "raped my childhood" business just blows things way out of proportion.

  • @EmSeeSquared The original movies were perfect as they were, you cannot go past perfection, if you try to achieve more than that it ends up becoming worse than it already was. He went so hard to please people (Which I respect George for doing this solely for us fanboys) but it ended up just a big mess.

I will not get into an argument or a debate. If you like the special editions, more power to you :D but there so are many fans who hate them that you cannot convince them all that they are good.

  • @Dartpaw86 "perfection" is an opinion. obviously Lucas didn't see the original releases as perfect, otherwise he wouldn't keep altering them. I DO feel they should be preserved, and that viewers should have a choice of versions to watch, but i understand that they ARE his films, and that he can do what he wants with them.

  • @EmSeeSquared I agree, he can make new versions if he wants but as long as he keeps the originals circulating. I remember him saying he wants "The originals to fall into obscurity" That worried me.

  • @Dartpaw86 i agree that IS a worrying notion. while i prefer the Special Editions (with the exception of Vader's recent "no! no!", though i didn't make as big a deal of it as everyone else), i'm all for preserving the original versions for historical sake. But again, he DID rerelease them in 2006 due to fan pressure.

  • @EmSeeSquared Hmm... he may have been rushed. I also believe being the creator of Star Wars, one of the greatest sci-fi epics of all time the fame may had gone to his head thinking no matter what he makes it will be awesome. (Which is why he didn't predicted the Holiday Special would bomb) maybe he thought. "It's Star Wars why wouldn't they like it?"

  • @Dartpaw86 the Holiday Special was made without him, and he hates it as much as everyone else. CBS pretty much came to him and proposed doing a holiday special of Star Wars. He agreed, and proposed that it be about Chewbacca trying to return home for a special holiday. Other than that, he had no involvement. CBS took the approval and his idea, and turned it into a goofy variety show. The Holiday Special was Star Wars fame going to CBS's heads, not Lucas's.

  • @EmSeeSquared >_> I hate it when companies do that. Like the movie the Thief and Cobbler. Richard Williams had a vision of a movie yet a studio stole it right from under him and kicked him off the project. They took the movie and turned into a cheap disneyesque flop. Bland songs, characters etc... everything Richard didn't want it to be.

Fans have since made a edited version more true to the man's vision. Which even Roy Disney supported.

It's tragic when you think about it.

  • @Dartpaw86 believe me, i know all about that story.

a similar story would be Robotech: The Movie, where Cannon films insisted on changes different from Carl Macek's vision, to the point that Macek disowned the project. I even plan on doing a recut of it myself closer to Macek's vision.

  • @EmSeeSquared Hmm... Roald Dahl disowned the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie. It disgusted him entirely, they were going to make a movie of the sequel but R.D denied them permission.

Though when the Johnny Depp version was made (Since Roald Dahl was dead at that point) his granddaughter said that he would have most likely much preferred the new version.

  • @Dartpaw86 i've heard this story too. which is ironic, since most people prefer the original version to Burton's. just goes to show you that whether something is good or bad is strictly opinion-based.

  • @EmSeeSquared People liked the original because of two reasons.

1- Gene Wilder was Charming and many found Johnny Deep creepy

2- It came first... (That's basically it)

Personally I found the sequel more true to the books, the songs were remixes taken from the books, Charlie's Dad was alive and worked at a toothpaste factory, and it showed what happened to the kids afterwards.

(If you want should we continue this chat in PMs? Because we are really getting off topic from Star Wars)

  • I hate the Force, but I love the Jedi!

  • Death to jar jar Lmao

  • Amen sir. Amen.

  • I love this video.

  • The only poo being stepped in by fans was in the form of lame prequels and special edition meddling. it's not about age or whether it is for kids. It is about good filmmaking (Original Trilogy) versus mediocre filmmaking (Eps. I, II, and to a degree III). This video is a low point to go out on. The Phantom Menace is a weak mess of a story. Media hype is more pervasive now and the SW brand sold The Phantom Menace. THAT explains the money. .

  • Goodbye bro, i just wanted to say that. PIPA is going to take everthing down soon, and Youtube will be taken down, and everything creative and funny will be gone. Your Songs have been the BOMB and its been great. Your Creativity will alwayse be in my memories, forever. Thank you

  • ...

That reminded me so much of a doctor Suess book, dood...

  • i share your point

  • I agree COMPLETELY!

  • seee i agree with this, i really cant HATE episode one entirely because it took alot of risks and i can give it credit for that. no one was really sure where to go with it and it got a bit messy and loop holey but still it wasnt TERRIBLE. to some degree or another it was entertaining and memorable........but Episode 2 on the other hand is unforgivable. you cant blame the fans for terrible casting, writing, dialogue, and a sheer boring film.

  • you look like tom cruise with curly hair
