Anyone who uses "People pretend to like this to show how much smarter they are than the rest of us" gets an automatic STFU from me. It's condescending as hell and usually have nothing of substance to say.
And I was right!
This is one of my all time favorite books. I've read it three times. And counting.
I just can't watch all of this review: rambling, making mouth noises and having your son sit on your lap talking about nothing related. I was going to suggest another book for you to review, but why bother. I do agree with one thing kinda, I really only cared for two characters, IGNATIUS AND MYRNA MINKOFF. I love them so much that I want to meet them! I plan to reread this book several more times! I am surprised more than 7 people have viewed this "review".
OMG, is your head stuck in the sand? Can you understand anything beyond the literal? There's no real goal? This is superb social criticism. I guess our world is still a confederacy of dunces.
This completely annoying man is just as pathetic as that Kate-reads-books character. He is the epitome of self-satisfaction with clearly no merit behind it. Review Tom Clancy, you mental midget!!! Ignatius would order him to receive a vicious lashing for his blatant audacity.
sir, you're an ignoramus, clearly your misguided self- satisfaction is simply a representation of your insolence. Go read a dan brown book, i imagine someone like you would eat that shit up.
You are clearly unable to understand the importance of this book. Apparently you are brainwashed like the rest of this country. Stick to your video games and geeky youtube show. I hope your ignorance makes you feel important.
I don't me to make fun of you but I'm not sure I trust the review of a 30 something? year old man who has let a video game "Take over his life" when it comes to a book like this one. I don't think you had enough appreciation for the way Toole connected all these characters in the way he did. It is like Crash in that these people have almost nothing to do with each other up until everything comes together at the end. maybe i'm an idiot, maybe i'm just a 15-year old kid, but i enjoyed the book.
Much of what Skid says about the book is true. The characters are somewhat flat, exaggerated, and unbelievable at times. But this is a comedic book, and as such these attributes should be accepted, nay I say, encouraged. No one should force themselves to read this book. If you don't laugh out loud several time in the first chapter, then this book is probably not for you.
At the beginning of this review you touch upon a style that works really well: naming an attribute and then pausing to decide whether it's positive or negative in this case (and then coming up empty handed.)
i love that book and i hav two problems with that reviewq. 1- you said there was no bit parts, there was the ladys art exhibition, the cinema employees, dorians guests, the employees of levy pants, the man jones talks to in the other bar (name escapes me). 2- did you actually compare the book to spongebob?
im not looking for a fight just wanted to make that point. it also seems like your rivalry with this kate is like ignatius and myrna, but maybe thats the point. is it?
This review is absent of adequate theology and geometry. You will one day be tried by the jury of good taste and decency.

Yet another that doesn't get the book because they are, in fact, just like Ignatius.
