  • Not bad stereo, but too muddy! Besides, where's the countdown and unedited ending?!

  • Can't beat the "wall of sound"

  • This song puts me in a good mood:-)

  • 5 Stars on this super song

  • I purchased this record in the "bargain bin" at a Woolworth's Store without ever hearing the song before. I bought the record because Phil Spector produced the song and I like the music Spector was producing at the time. I wasn't wrong this is still a great record one of the songs of my youth and I enjoyed listening to it.

  • Thanks and a tip of the hat for putting up this alternate version. I remember hearing the hit version when I was like 13, just starting to go crazy over girls. I remember thinking how cool it would be to have a girlfriend so faithful that she would wait for you to come home, spurning some other guy's advances, even when she "hasn't got a thing to do" and she's "so lonely and blue".

What a woman and what a singer Darlene Love was/is!

  • @filthyphillyboy Outside of your music 'fantasy', did you ever meet such

    a girlfriend?

  • @fntime "Outside of your music 'fantasy', did you ever meet such a girlfriend?"

Yeah, but of course I didn't appreciate it when it happened & we broke up later. Oh, the ones that got away!

  • Love this record, puts me in mind of The Crystals sound,.

  • pure aug 1963 at altmans bungalow colony south fallsburg new york i heard this wonderful song and loved it since those fun and innocent days .

  • Rarely if ever played these days, but an enduring classic. Love that sax.

  • A great song in 1963 that still sounds great.

  • Am I weird for saying that this reminds me of the Andrews Sisters? I know the vocals don't sound the same but still...

  • Stefmagura....you are NOT weird at all. I think a LOT of the Girl groups back then (both Black & White) were inspired by by the Andrews Sisters, & other similar sounding Female groups from the 1940's & 1950's. I'm an old guy, so I can pretty much vouch for this theory!

  • @TunnelRat6667 Ronnie Spector said that she was inspired by Lena Horn, ( her book Be my Baby),Darlene Love 's favorite singer is Marian Anderson

  • @Freyja1133 Hi, and thanks for the useful info. on this!

  • @stefmagura Roy wood did a song called mustard a takeoff on the andrews sisters

  • Where did you get this version from John? I love this music.

  • it was on a bootleg cd set of phil's out takes, i do believe the cd did get a more commerical release in the states a year ago, if its the same as mine chances are the recordings will be cleaner , something which i can do now myself when time permits
