My grandfather used to say that back in the day he walked 3 miles to school, up hill both ways. The miracle of modern technology could now make this possible.
You know they invented this great activity thousands of years ago............... what's it called again, oh ya, walking. All you need is two functioning legs and off you go.
I love this thing. Practical? Not neccesarily. Fun? Most likely. A new way of thinking of conversion of human motive force? Definitely. Lots of other amazingly unique, simple, and brilliant ideas on the oooms site, as well.
What pisses me off is that noone seems to be making excercise equipment to generate electricity. This is either mass-stupidity, a conspiracy, or both.
It's a matter of economics. The energy produced would have to be stored, then integrated for other devices, necessitating both a battery and and outlet. The energy produced would be too little to warrant the hassle in application. Most exercise equipment is bought out of guilt anyway, with no real intent of prolonged use. So the IDEA of harvesting energy would be a good marketing tool, just impractical to implement.

It uses a drive system to multiply your walking efforts. It makes it so that you move faster than you would with just walking.

What happens when you go down hill? Is it possible that it moves so fast and turns the belt so fast that you can't keep up?
VKingDonkoN 3 years ago
It works the same way as the peddles of a bicycle, they can also be hold still when going downhill.

you're in the gym and it slipped your mind to charge your mp3 player and/or phone...
then you're SAVED by the usb power outs on the bike/elliptical/treadmill.
:)
should generate enough for that, ay?
