I like the Trick system better than the Axis just from looking so far. Im looking at retiring my Flying Dragons after installing trick beaters on them. Love those beaters!
Some guys have had their Axis break and strip. But I wonder too if they take care of their gear like a bone head .."?" Has anyone had a Trick system break any where?
I like the Trick spring system too. Totally different.
hahaha good one........... Yeah i didn't finish !! And when did i say that everyone played or could play or had to play 9000's???? Look's like you are still the same "Cocky" guy not doing his research and looking dumb..... Trick by far beats Axis in every category......... So tell me that your hardware on your Crappy Axis doesn't crap out ? Hahahaha to each his own keep rocking that crApXIS......
@inbloom97 You did finish dipshit. And where's all YOUR bad ass drumming vids? Oh right, you don't have any. I've been using Axis for almost 3 years now, far longer than I ever used Tricks, nothing's gone wrong with them. Maybe its user error on your end there I'm assuming? Keep rocking your online shit talk dumb ass.
@Sindervhit ive had my axis dbls for a few years now. no probs. and i alwys practice alot of heavy dbl bass playing. i havent tried trick. whyd you decide to dump trick for axis exactly.
Axis (Which I have tested for hours) are very unstable and flimsy to me! I have tried many many pedals to be able to criticize.... 1. Pearl P-900....... Solid, Cheap price,Great feeling, great hardware on it..... For the price you can't beat this.......2.Pearl Demon Drive.....Race car looks, feel flimsy, unstable, would be decent if not so over priced... 3. Tama Iron Cobra.... Feels like a tank, kinda sluggish so you have to work harder, good looking, decent price.... DW. 9000 Awesome pedal!!!!
are these pedals strong enough? do they pack alot of power? becuase when i start going really fast on my pedals i tend to exert less force. will theses pedals fix that problem
why did you go back to axis?? i used to play axis and never played a trick. but my mane reason for not using axis was how unstable i felt playing them. do u have the same problem??
I really dislike demons, they feel too flimsy to me with lower spring tension didnt feel like i had much control but i like playing full tension so its just personal preference.
i got demon drives, im more than happy with them. i know what u you mean about smooth, it feels like the board is stuck to my feet its that responsive but i got used to it very quickly. i was thinking about trick/axis but you cant seem to get them in england and i know there prone to breaking down. demons all the way!
demons, they can be short board AND long board, so u buy two pedals in one. and is made from the same materials used to make skateboards in japan, no joke.
@skermisher95 they use ninja skateboard bearings.i skateboard and have never even heard of them now don't tell me thay are good haha its just that most drummers dont know about skating. truthfully demon drives=overpriced and not very great.
I ve really thought about getting an axis pedal, because from what ive heard the playability is the same for a cheaper price BUT, the Trick pedals are so much more user friendly...im tired of spending countless time at practice adjusting my tension springs and having to spend forever hunched over...that adjustment knob is one of the coolest things ever...consider me sold on the Trick pedals
I agree, compression spring is a compression spring.
Trick needs to release an extension spring model.
Axis BTW is coming out with an updated pedal real soon (b/f 2010 they say), more adjustments, new foot board (they got a new CNC machine) and other cool stuff.
btw...the beater hieght isnt the 3 kinda hole things....its on the big black circle, use a drum key...what you think the beater hieght is, is the stroke lenght
K guys I hope everyone who's thinking about commenting reads this. I'm not debating which pedals are the best/fastest etc. They're all different and some are going to work much better for certain styles. I know some of this vids info is slightly wrong, I made it a week after I got them well over two years ago before there was ANY info on Trick pedals and only knew what I knew. I use Axis now (singles AND doubles) and I'm going to do a similar vid so stay tuned.
Why the switch? Im not asking if they are faster or what not I'm not a newbie who is crazy about speed and gear. I'm just curious why you personally switched. I had an Axis and I loved it but they tore up my socks and started to have a lot of backlash due to how they would hit the head when I played with them so my leg couldnt take it any more. ( I must admit I miss the feel of them though they were so smooth it was a nice change)
LOL this has happened to me...first rule of Axis Club IS: DO NOT PLAY IN JUST YOUR SOCKS! Backlash? What do you mean...as in too strong a rebound? I've never had that problem so I'm not sure how you had yours set up to react that way. I have mine set up similar to how Kollias does his and took some advice from Hellhammer too. I switched because they way I'm trying to go technique-wise is the the direction of Kollias. Axis are the only ones I personally can do this with.
Actually yes absolutely, I own both the singles and doubles so that's a pretty good idea. That was the ex's digital camera so let me borrow one and I'll get it done as soon as possible :)
The latest couple vids I've just used my laptop webcam, that's why the quality's so shitty so I'll wait til I have something better.
well i can't help you much becouse i aint tried demon or trick...but i've tried elims, cobras and i currently use axis.....and the axis is a fucking machine^^ i love em.....
demon drives are horrible compared to axis or trick. Trick Pro 1-vs are expensive,Trick dominators are the same price as axis A longboards and the Trick dominator double is the same price as Axis A longboard Double, and the TRick Dominators are kinda like their sport pedal, i would go with axis
Awesome explanation man, I bought The Big Foot Double Pedal, yesterday and it rocks!. But, how do i remove the sound from the left pedal (they are connected by the bar) and how do i adjust for my needs, i mean are there some standars like from 0.2 -0.5 (rock) or like first hole (speed), second hole (power)
Umm. No. I had Tricks for 2 years and though I just switched to Axis the LAST thing I'd ever say is that Tricks are a CHEAP version of ANYTHING. They're built like tanks, they just have a totally different feel due to the compression spring.
I played axis pedals for year and now play trick. not only are you misinformed, but trick pedals really blow axis away. I highly suggest you try them if you havent. and from what you said I would assume you havent.
These DON'T really blow Axis away. I used these for 2 years and switched to Axis without a single regret. Tricks are made well and are good for heavy footed monkeys.
I love my axis pedals, but I really think the tricks are so made so much better. I used axis pedals for around 4 years and switched to trick and i'm more than happy. Like you said tho, different strokes for different folks
Axis is just a cheap copy of Trick (sorry if I seem like an ass)
Seriously, though. Even if Axis has been around longer, Tricks are WAY better made and are WAY easier to adjust and fine-tune, in addition to being more durable.
do these pedals come in a double bass? or is it just single pedals? 800 bucks for each pedal + getting a new bass drum so i can double bass......that is a lot of money. 2 tricks and a bass drum or...a yacht
I have no idea where you got that number. These are around $300 new. Mine are both on ebay right now for $550 for the pair, I just want to try something different now.
wish all pedals had a vid like this explainin and shit.. but yeah one thing that u forgot.. foot board height isnt through the roller bearings.. thats for stroke.. the height of footplate is another thingnext to the beater assembly.. great vid though.. like the sense of humor and humility
Nice pedal, i hear alot about how axis is faulty and problems with the pedal. i have had an axis pedal for about 3 years and it is still a very solid pedal. The only way i could see the axis messing up is if you mess with it and do the wrong thing. Cause it's a pain in the ass to tune and adjust. i dont see much of a difference with this pedal. just easier to adjust. i like the tension knob and the cool bass drum clamp.
I like heavier beaters honestly, I have the DW's on mine and dig the recoil I get. And after witnessing some Axis issues first hand now...god am I glad I bought the Tricks!
I do have both. ICs are smooth, Tricks are like glass. It's hard to explain unless you hopped on a pair. I would highly recommend them and don't regret for one second that I own mine.
Hey, Sindervhit, some other drummers i know keep telling me that they don't feel a difference between tricks and iron cobras. you said you had ic's right? can you feel a difference in speed w/ tricks?
ive been tryin to figure that out myself.. but i pretty much decided on trick. i read lots and lots of reviews for both, and from what i gather the trick are easier to set up and adjust, are stronger, engineered better, have better beaters, and they dont have all the different all wrench sizes like axis
I'm buying trick this week... My friend who is a great drummer is selling axis to buy tricks... i was in the same dilema axis or trick... but he told me the thing, Axis are hard to adapt... u need time and trick are just better he tested them and he played axis for over a year and immeditaly said trick.
I'm selling ICs now... he told me its a good thing, ICs are good but u get used to them... and you cant develop such playing later on as you can with trick
Dude, I got my Bigfoots yesterday. I'm having trouble adjusting the drive shaft...seems to be stuck. Its the free-floating, universal joint system shaft. How did u adjust yours?
hey dude, how r u, nice video. i have some questions for you dude. i wanna buy a new double pedal but i don't know what brand choosse: the axis A longoboar or the trick pro 1 v bigfoot. What pedal do you recommend me and why. I wish i don't disturd you and thank you very much
No they're pretty smooth on the bottom, I put some adhesive griptape on the bottoms of mine. When they're attached to your kicks it doesn't matter but for practicing at home I needed it.
I have Axis longboards right now and I'm kind of frustrated with them. The alan screws come loose a lot among other things (the screw for the hoop clamp). I think I'd prefer to get the Trick bigfoots instead.
hey, the three ring cluster, Sindervhit, isnt actually foot board height adjustment, its actually a stroke adjustment, like the highest clusters is for faster reasponse, and the lower u go the more linear the feel, and response.
Naw the deal with trick, is they are made mor esolid, with no alen keys holes, juts u need ur hand to adjust tension, and a drum key to adjust the beater and footboard height, but also, they both use different styles of spring, so it has a different feel. Me personally i have played both, and im about to get my tricks, and i picked trick because i like them alot more, feel and power, and speed wise. But still its all preference
Oh one other thing, the reason why chris, derek and george arent endorsed, is either because axis offered first, with maybe a better contract, and also trick is just evolving, so they may have signed with axis ccasue it was a bigger name, and maybe they have never heard of trick.
BUT WHAT EVER ITS ALL ABOUT METAL, and everyone can do great with what they got. Also, trick are more expensive, so people are mor eprone to buy axis.
That's because their sponsored that's a simple answer... Don't let marketing get into your head man buy what's right for you ( to be honest i still don't know which one I should buy)!
why you don't play whit the better originals although they do not have the head, excluding the fastest deterioration from the patch. It seems to me that it would be powerful like the wood or even more. Put two or tre Falams, Why not?
Awesome! I'm getting a pair now that my IC's are crapping out. I was going to go for the Axis LB's because they are a little cheaper but the big difference in quality seems to outweigh the small difference in price. Thanks for posting this Sinder!
i played on sum of these in the west coast drum center wen i went 2 visit my dad in the states and they feel fuckin mental .... but im still not shure if i shud go for these or the pearl eliminators..any1 got any advice?
reply to arabsphere... personally I haven't tried either one but the first thing different from any other pedal on the market is the spring. This pedal's spring actually transfers more power to the beater, so in that regard it's better than anything on the market but as far as better than Axis overall, it's really personal preference. Myself, I am definitely getting Trick's pedals when I upgrade my kit but Axis, I think, is a close second to anyone not in love the Trick pedal.
i just find it so weird that ill talk to some people and they think axis is the greatest thing ever, but ill talk to others and they say it was the worst waste of money they've ever spent. i havent been able to play either actually so i still dont know what i think
Axis are very nice pedals. They can break often, though. That's why people might hate them. I used to own Axis. I loved the way it played, but I hated how I had a lot of problems with it, so I sold it.
I wish I could honestly compare them, I don't have much experience with them. The comments I've heard from the Axis users that have tried my pedals say they're alike in response but the Tricks hit much harder.
Great explination. The only thing you didn't mention is the spring. It has a compression spring instead of a tention spring. This feature is what makes it the most accurate pedal on the market with no backlash effect. By the way, I have both the Detonator and Big Foot Double pedals. My Trick Drums kit should be here in about a month. Once I get it I'll post a video. Take care and great video...
The playability of either pedals differ by inches rather then miles as some may think. Certainly the Trick pedals have a few things that the Axis doesn't but from a playing POV those extras are negligible. The cost at this point in time makes the Trick pedals ridiculous at best. You're really just paying for the titanium! Axis still rules, unless you can get an endorsement deal from Trick then all bets are off.
I cannot disagree with you more. With Trick, you're paying for more innovation, quality, and, very important: EASE OF USE. I hated my Axis pedals. Hard to adjust, fell apart, sloppy at best. A rookie in vocational shop class could do a better job.
nice video, could have used the proper terms like "beater angle" and "spring tension" though.
i tried trick pedals right next to axis pedals, tricks were smoother but no were near as responsive as the axis pedals, and the action is dead silent too :P
congrats on getting the first decent video of tricks up hehe.
Thanks...its my first vid on here and my first review of any sort, so thanks for the compiments! I'll post a vid of my using them on my kit here later this week.
decent clip dude...they look like they were built for drumming in Bagdad or somewhere hehe i think the design tho is alot like the Axis long boards but they look tougher
Does the bottom of the foot pedal ever run into that clamp that connects it to the bass drum hoop? Hey man... Wheres your trick beater?

My friend who is a great drummer is selling axis to buy tricks... i was in the same dilema axis or trick... but he told me the thing, Axis are hard to adapt... u need time and trick are just better he tested them and he played axis for over a year and immeditaly said trick.
I'm selling ICs now... he told me its a good thing, ICs are good but u get used to them... and you cant develop such playing later on as you can with trick

Dude, I got my Bigfoots yesterday. I'm having trouble adjusting the drive shaft...seems to be stuck. Its the free-floating, universal joint system shaft. How did u adjust yours?
sonicdethmunkey 3 years ago
you look like Mike V.
Aggi93 3 years ago
Who's that?
Sindervhit 3 years ago
I think he means Mike Vallely, the skatedboarder.
SlayerFan1993 3 years ago
i broke 2 axis drive shafts in less than 10 months so im looking to get these now i apparently play really hard haha

hey dude, how r u, nice video. i have some questions for you dude. i wanna buy a new double pedal but i don't know what brand choosse: the axis A longoboar or the trick pro 1 v bigfoot. What pedal do you recommend me and why. I wish i don't disturd you and thank you very much
chentilla13 3 years ago
All I've ever used is the Trick single pedals.
Sindervhit 3 years ago
Do they stuck to a carpet easy? is there some kind of thing that gets it stuck?
I'm a 16 year old swede, i don't know the name of it but axis has it.
morbida 3 years ago
No they're pretty smooth on the bottom, I put some adhesive griptape on the bottoms of mine. When they're attached to your kicks it doesn't matter but for practicing at home I needed it.
Sindervhit 3 years ago
I just have one kick and i'm going for the dubbelpedal so I'll be needing some tape x)
morbida 3 years ago
"you hear the pedal movin? yeah ya don't cause there's no sound" LAWL
nice man another reason to get these beasties. oh dude have you tried the longs v regular? what size feet do you have?
sonoluminescent 3 years ago
I've sat down with the regulars for a bit, I do like the Bigfoot better. I wear a 12 btw :D
Sindervhit 3 years ago
what did you pay fpr those two?
morbida 3 years ago
They run about $300 a piece.
Sindervhit 3 years ago
I have Axis longboards right now and I'm kind of frustrated with them. The alan screws come loose a lot among other things (the screw for the hoop clamp). I think I'd prefer to get the Trick bigfoots instead.
shortbuspileup 3 years ago
hey, the three ring cluster, Sindervhit, isnt actually foot board height adjustment, its actually a stroke adjustment, like the highest clusters is for faster reasponse, and the lower u go the more linear the feel, and response.
In case if you didnt know.
I also have the pedlas, and i FUCKING LOVE THEM.
camalus666 3 years ago
Yeah lol, I do know that now, at the time I had had them for about 2 days and was just too excited to do my research, but yes sir, you are correct!
Sindervhit 3 years ago
thank you very much... i really want to buy a pair of those...
grapaomoo 3 years ago
is it true that the universal cam slips a lot?
grapaomoo 3 years ago
No not once.
Sindervhit 3 years ago
these are awesome pedals i have them myself!
i think the reason kollias, roddy, adler use axis is endorsementments.. axis has alot of marketing power
DesolateCreation 4 years ago
it seems like tricks are competing with axis..and am very curious which wood be the best between the two
proto35 4 years ago
if the trick pedals are better than axis pedals than why dont big drummers like chris adler, derek roddy, george kollias etc. use them instead?
and im not saying that they are or arent better
burnedandbeheaded 4 years ago
I never said they're better, I've never even set foot on an Axis pedal.
Sindervhit 4 years ago
well it seams like they play better and are built better
burnedandbeheaded 4 years ago
Maybe they're happy with what they're using.
Sindervhit 4 years ago
yeah probably
burnedandbeheaded 4 years ago
Naw the deal with trick, is they are made mor esolid, with no alen keys holes, juts u need ur hand to adjust tension, and a drum key to adjust the beater and footboard height, but also, they both use different styles of spring, so it has a different feel. Me personally i have played both, and im about to get my tricks, and i picked trick because i like them alot more, feel and power, and speed wise. But still its all preference
camalus666 4 years ago
Oh one other thing, the reason why chris, derek and george arent endorsed, is either because axis offered first, with maybe a better contract, and also trick is just evolving, so they may have signed with axis ccasue it was a bigger name, and maybe they have never heard of trick.
BUT WHAT EVER ITS ALL ABOUT METAL, and everyone can do great with what they got. Also, trick are more expensive, so people are mor eprone to buy axis.
camalus666 4 years ago
good explanation man
burnedandbeheaded 4 years ago
That's because their sponsored that's a simple answer... Don't let marketing get into your head man buy what's right for you ( to be honest i still don't know which one I should buy)!
MetalCode 3 years ago
Um, Chris Adler plays tricks.....
schwarg 2 years ago
@schwarg
yes. yes he does!
TrickPercussion 2 years ago
why you don't play whit the better originals although they do not have the head, excluding the fastest deterioration from the patch. It seems to me that it would be powerful like the wood or even more. Put two or tre Falams, Why not?
Juanplate00 4 years ago
Umm. Wow man, I get it that english isn't exactly your first language...but you pretty much lost me entirely. That's why.
Sindervhit 4 years ago
hahahaha!.... ok... sorry, never mind.
Juanplate00 4 years ago
think he meant why did you remove the original beater heads
mouloudo 4 years ago
Because one of them fell apart the first time I used them at practice.
Sindervhit 4 years ago
LOLOL.
"Shit ... God damn."
almostXdaewon 4 years ago
Awesome! I'm getting a pair now that my IC's are crapping out. I was going to go for the Axis LB's because they are a little cheaper but the big difference in quality seems to outweigh the small difference in price. Thanks for posting this Sinder!
johndoe1027 4 years ago
I've just posted an axis review, these Trick ones are way better it seems!
nathanjh13 4 years ago
i have an axis longboard. why drummer like derek roddy or george kollias change their beater head?
arabsphere 4 years ago

davegrohlizgod 4 years ago
how much do these things sell for?
JordisonIsSlipknot 4 years ago
About $300 a piece.
Sindervhit 4 years ago
thanks. ya there is no way ill be able to afford them...
JordisonIsSlipknot 4 years ago
Selling my 9002 hulky, sluggish design for this pure bliss. Thanks for highlighting what's good about them! It's amazing how they've topped AXIS...
drumbum021 4 years ago
nice video dood :]
blahblahgayblah 4 years ago
Amazing video. I wonder If these would be a better buy than axis?
kadeus2003 4 years ago
the trick looks amazing!
the only thing i hate is the clamp to the bass drum it looks totally sketchy
Exhume2Consume 4 years ago
It definitely does it's job though! Been using them for 6 months without a single problem!
Sindervhit 4 years ago
yea im super sketchy for my size 5'3 im a preety hard hitter but i wouldnt trust a clamp i like to screw shit on tight.
but sick looking pedal. good video!
Exhume2Consume 4 years ago
Two singles.
Sindervhit 4 years ago
is that true? axis not a best pedal? is it trick pedal much better? coz i've just order an axis longboards...
arabsphere 4 years ago
reply to arabsphere... personally I haven't tried either one but the first thing different from any other pedal on the market is the spring. This pedal's spring actually transfers more power to the beater, so in that regard it's better than anything on the market but as far as better than Axis overall, it's really personal preference. Myself, I am definitely getting Trick's pedals when I upgrade my kit but Axis, I think, is a close second to anyone not in love the Trick pedal.
pyrofreek005 4 years ago
i just find it so weird that ill talk to some people and they think axis is the greatest thing ever, but ill talk to others and they say it was the worst waste of money they've ever spent. i havent been able to play either actually so i still dont know what i think
pearldude729 4 years ago
Axis are very nice pedals. They can break often, though. That's why people might hate them. I used to own Axis. I loved the way it played, but I hated how I had a lot of problems with it, so I sold it.
IronCobra22 4 years ago
awesomeeeeeee how would you compare these to say the axis longboards?
pearldude729 4 years ago
I wish I could honestly compare them, I don't have much experience with them. The comments I've heard from the Axis users that have tried my pedals say they're alike in response but the Tricks hit much harder.
Sindervhit 4 years ago
Shit those pedals have alot of waggle it looks like. I want a pair:) please donate to my trick fund! anything helps:D
Sadist102 4 years ago
How much are they?
rancid36fits 5 years ago
They were about $300 a piece.
Sindervhit 4 years ago
Great explination. The only thing you didn't mention is the spring. It has a compression spring instead of a tention spring. This feature is what makes it the most accurate pedal on the market with no backlash effect. By the way, I have both the Detonator and Big Foot Double pedals. My Trick Drums kit should be here in about a month. Once I get it I'll post a video. Take care and great video...

Thanks man, I'll look forward to finally seeing some Trick drums in action!
Sindervhit 5 years ago
you were right they are bearings nice review
AsianNinja07 5 years ago
The playability of either pedals differ by inches rather then miles as some may think. Certainly the Trick pedals have a few things that the Axis doesn't but from a playing POV those extras are negligible. The cost at this point in time makes the Trick pedals ridiculous at best. You're really just paying for the titanium! Axis still rules, unless you can get an endorsement deal from Trick then all bets are off.
q8b 5 years ago
I cannot disagree with you more. With Trick, you're paying for more innovation, quality, and, very important: EASE OF USE. I hated my Axis pedals. Hard to adjust, fell apart, sloppy at best. A rookie in vocational shop class could do a better job.
rjm98119 4 years ago
nice video, could have used the proper terms like "beater angle" and "spring tension" though.
i tried trick pedals right next to axis pedals, tricks were smoother but no were near as responsive as the axis pedals, and the action is dead silent too :P
congrats on getting the first decent video of tricks up hehe.
