  • Bhai Baldeep Singh Ji,This is not an ordinary singing. This is an example of art of GURUKAL's kirtan. Bahut Khoob- Baht Khoob. Please see attached video of mine . I need your feedback to improve my Gurbani Singing. I have dedicated this video to BHAI SAHIB BHAI AVTAR SINGH JI one of the exponent GURMAT KIRTANIYA of this era.

    Jagmohan Singh Thind

  • kya e wohi notanki wake bhai baldeep singh ji hain gate waqt notanki bahut karte hain

  • kya baat hai,man pavitra ho gaya! wjkk wjkf

  • utterly awe-stricken.

if we close are eyes and listen, it is as if we are at darbaar sahib right now but sittin here in the UK.

    vjkk vjkf

  • utterly awe-stricken. vjkk vjkf

  • old is gold but bhai baldeep singh act like as a madari in gurbani kirtan

  • I have always listen him today 1st time I came to know how these babaGs look like very owesome kirtan

  • bhaiji on Tabla is likely just as skilled and efficient with a Khanda in hand...of this I have no doubt!

  • Vaheguru!

  • never heard such a beautiful composition. When bhai sahib sings the line "Charan Kamal meh hoye niwas" it feels like the blissful anand of charan kamal of Waheguru, its true that TAHAN BAIKUNTH JEH KIRTAN TERA.

I need more videos like these by bhai sahib. Baldip veer jio, do u have any more videos? plz share with us.

  • Would it be ok if I attempted to sing this composition and had someone play Chautaala then?

  • yeah, it would fit, i would advise singing a bit slower, chau/chaartaal sounds best at slow speeds, usually played in vilambit, it will fit, go for it, maybe you can upload a video of it for us aswell. thanks ji.

  • To say chartaal sounds good only when played in slow tempo is incorrect. In learning within the tradition we also learn of the pace of the compositions which were composed by the original authors, in this case Guru Arjan Dev.

I would advise you to have someone play chartaal but without changing the tempo for that would be meddling with the original in the shabad-reet.

  • i wasnt sayin that it saounds good only when played in slow tempo, but it sounds at its best, it is my personal opinion, some may not agree, however i do agree that i made a mistake by saying lower the tempo for this particular reet as it should be played how it was composed. i take that comment back.

  • i think Bhai swaran ji should have played an attay vala dhamma here!

    =(

  • what taal is this...

  • singh sahib ji, it is ektaal

  • Originally it was a chartal composition but since a tabla got used in Kirtan they began to play the theka of Ektal.

  • thnks for tellin me

  • wow! this is great!

  • This is really cool, I just wish I knew what they're singing about! :) Would it be too much for you to translate and post the lyrics?

  • raag raamakalee mehalaa 5 ghar 2 dhupadhae

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of- The True Guru:

Sing the songs of Praise of the Lord.

Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, total peace is obtained; coming and going is ended, my friend.

Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, one is enlightened,

and comes to dwell in His lotus feet.

In the Society of the Saints, one is saved.

    naanak bhavajal outharas paar

  • Much appreciated!

  • Thanks!

  • raag ramkali mehala 5 ghar 2 dupday ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.

gun gavat hovat pargas. charan kamal meh ho-ay nivas. ||1||

santsangat meh ho-ay uDhar. nanak bhavjal utras par. ||2||1||57||

  • vah ji vah, What a composition! Bhai baldeep singh please give some history on it.

  • The original Ramkali Raag and a shabd-reet composed by Guru Arjan himself...!

Both the Rababi and the Gur-Sikh tradition sang with their hearts.

  • Thanks for posting this veerji!

definitely a treat to watch the family sit and play :-)

  • This composition is amazing!!!! i like the way they bring the dadra onto the first line of the composition...it birngs exitement...amazing stuff!

  • Do you have a metal or gut string on this saaz

  • At the time O played in this it had metal strings, but by the time I played in the Asa-di-vaar recoding of Bhai AS, the second string was a gut.

My personal taus now has all gut strings and so is the case with the Dhrupadi rababs.

  • I thank you again for sharing and answering such question from your sangat on this online portal you have opened. Yes indeed some people will abuse the system just to poke holes but I think this open and sharing Baldeep is one the Sangat can grow to love

  • Who is playing Tanpura here?

  • Dr. B. S. Rattan, former (Acting) Principal of Khalsa College, Delhi Univ.

  • Are Birthday wishes in order?

Happy Birthday if i am correct

  • Thank you very much for your blessings...
