My father in law was japanese canadian and did a lot of his professional fishing near native grounds.Some times native men would tell him to get out of their land and go back to where he came from.Always thought it was ironic because my father in law looked verry much like a native indian...

as a resident of vancouver i can tell you unlike expo 86 nobody is getting displaced by the olympics. they are actually building more social housing because of this and part of the atheletes village has been set a side for social housing after the games

the Woodward's building was supposed to be converted to affordable social housing. Uh - the city owns the athelete's village now, meaning we are massively in debt for it, but the city will sell it for a profit to anyone as anything BUT low income housing after the big circus leaves town, making certain people very rich from the fees while the homelss count rises. The Olympics are going to cost Canadian taxpayers about six billion dollars. The money will go to multinational corporations like Coke. Details are difficult to discover, because the Canadian government will not allow financial transparency.

Residents of the Vancouver area are being displaced by Olympic building projects.

In short, the Olympics are a great way to trick people into paying taxes so that corporations can thrive.

Why not spend the six billion on housing for people who need it?
