This is my favorite movie! My grandmother took me to see this when I was 5 years old. I have a copy of it on vhs (wow) and still watch it every once in awhile. It reminds me of the fun times grandma and I had.
You never thought about the show, "Good Times" when you saw this film. Its called talent!! So proud to have been in the theater with my sister as a kid to see this movie. It was a beautiful part of my childhood..
Brilliant Promotional Advertisement!! A Solid 6!! WGN America would have fun airing this 1975 film on a Friday Night. Jimmie Walker, John Amos, Sidney Poitier, and (the late) Ossie Davis were the mainstays in this motion picture.
soon as this come on and go off that beat thats playin iz so fuckin sweet dam who made it and how can u get it and am not talkin bout the song lets do it again on here lol
Man, Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby to me, were one of the greatest comedy duos I ever seen. I think they played in like two other movies. I hope they think of doing another comedy together in the future. They maybe older but I believe they still have that chemistry.
@Jessica1044 I agree with you Jessica1044 I was only (3) years old when this movie came out in 1975 and i watches it over and over and over again i love it to.
@Jessica1044 I'm 17 and I love this movie! When you have a dad that's 62 you'll love these classics lol he would wake us up with this and the fiveheartbeats when he would clean
And he appeared in this movie with John Amos and Jimmy Walker of Good Times TV fame. Lockhart would later make a guess appearance as Florida Evans's cousin in the final season of the show.
The movie and the soundtrack are American Cult Classics. Oh yeah, this is where The Notorious B.I.G got his initial name, Biggie Smalls. That's why he had to change it b/c he took a copy written name. I'm sure it was in homage to the film but you know how corporate america is with their greedy asses.
Yeah..I'd like to know the same thing. I still have a crush on her, and the last thing I saw her was "My Wife & Kids". She was still good looking then (although heavier..but that's alright with me).
This movie was so funny but to be honest with you, I only watched this cause i was in love with Denise Nicolas... She was even sexier in Piece Of The Action
This movie was funny as hell. The cahse scene has to be my all time favorite. They led kansas city mack and Biggie smalls right to the police station.
Friday After Next reminded me of this chase scene. But I don't think they would've made it to the police station, let ALONE jump from building to building with their weed smokin' asses. :-)
This is my favorite movie of all-time. My brother and I to this day quote and text lines to each other from this movie for fun. I'm not kidding. Nobody knows this movie better than I do. Some people have the Godfather. I have Let's do it Again. And by the way, Will Smith's production company bought the rights to all three movies. I don't really think they should do a remake but it will draw intrest in this classic.
I admit it will be difficult to make a remake of these 3 movies. However, it would be intteresting to see how it would be interpreted nowadays. Sidney Poitier's speech in "A piece of the Action" would still resonate today.
Back in the day, it was O.K. to use the "F" word before it became a slur toward those with an "alternate lifestyle." This movie depicted the times it was made in. It could be considered a high-class blaxploitation film because of the impact of Cosby and Poitier. But Amos, Lockhart, and Walkers roles are great.
With all respect to the other fine ladies in this movie - I'll take Talya Ferro, the green eyed beauty in Biggie's crew. When I first saw her in this movie as a horny 16 year old suburban white boy I got an instant case of jungle fever. She is FINE!
She is fine, but I will take Jayne Kennedy anyday. The woman in the beginning of the film who Cosby is going nuts over as he's driving the forklift. I've never seen a finer looking woman in my life.
In one Rocky version, Apollo Creed was an older, less flashy Joe Louis type champ. John Amos would've been perfect. Fought golden gloves and one episode proves he's bigger and wider than Carl Weathers. Not by alot, but enough.
None of Sidney and Bill's movies can be done over...what they did...STANDS... and cannot be duplicated or bested. Uptown Saturday Night, Let's Do It Again & A Piece Of The Action..all CLASSICS.
First of all you do nor know me to be telling me to get over myself. You get over yourself. Maybe if you had clarified it from the beginning that it was a line in the movie, I would not have said anything!!
Calvin Lockhart could have been one of the all time greats but for some reason he did not get a lot lead roles in major movies. If he came along in the late 80's--present he would have blown up. RIP my friend.

I wish they would do a remake of this starring Pdiddy and JZ..good idea huh? Or Will smith and Chris Tucker. Now that would be hilarious!!! can ya see it, can ya see it?? Visualize it people!
Probably the greatest black movie I ever saw. Don't make it like these anymore.
