  • *and s2k, before some hater fills it in for me.

  • can't beat that VTEC noise.

i know we're moving into a time of incredibly smart, low capacity forced-induction stuff, but the noise of integras, civics, accords and ofc the NSX will ring loudly in my mind forever <3 nice vid

  • Car has only 246 km(or miles) and you are killing it? :O

  • nice shifting

  • yeah the whole running in thing is a myth; im a mechanic and i used to work pre delivery and we would thrash cars with less than 100kms on the clock; running an engine in is just a waste of time

  • I have this car, and i recently owned a Golf R32, although it was being driven by a blonde girl. Still, she seemed to be giving it as much as the Golf had, and the type r was quicker.

I have to say, i also own a celica t-sport, and on the test runs i've done, the celica is quicker than the type-r which contradicts the claimed figures.

  • @pleasureman01 Real world driving is a whole different thing matter compared to the performance figures... R32 has so much more power low down that in most cases it will outpace the TypeR unless you've got a good driver in the TypeR. But similiar cars. As for the T-Sport I'm not so sure. I've test driven it and it didn't feel anywhere near as fast as the Type R. Unfortunately I've never come across one on the street, maybe they just dont bother :)

  • @2007TypeR the r32 no have fun! the civic typer is pure exiting the vtec kicks! is amazing and the reability

    the r32 is a cheap a3

  • theres something quite sexy about his hands....

like i want them on my body

  • FN2 1257kg. 197 1265kg. FN2 201 bhp. 197 192 bhp. so don,t think he was racing dickhead. so if thats heavy whats your lard arse clio.

  • silly people buy renault's i because they know that the dash will fall off or make parasite noises after a wile has a sign of renault lack of quality, i believe that you did that to the fn2, but i would like to see you do that to a ep3

  • ever heard of running in a engine?

  • I don't keep cars past 3 years so I don't give a shit about running in.

  • well depending on how many km u put in 3 years u may wanna or selling isnt gonna be an option,

  • Comment removed

  • @2007TypeR Well let you sit in a lay by with that shity vtec engine and ill revv right past you in my ST!!!

  • Running in a engine is a myth. Engine have already been ran in when you get your car. I've owned 4 cars, never ran in any of them and, after 100000km which was usually the time when i replaced them they were working without any problems. Actually, some researches show that car will develop more HP if you run the hell out of it when its new.

  • ur right about the car will will develop more HP if you run it hard when it's new, but that's after running it in.

it's not a myth, when i read the manual of my new car it said to run it in till 1,600 KM so as not to damage the engine.

  • Nothing bad will happen to the engine if you dont drive slowly for the first 1000km. Its not made from cookies.

  • lol, If you "run in" an engine by babying it everywhere, you will make LESS power in the long run. You cant thrash it everywhere and you cant baby it everywhere, you need a nice balance of both to run in properly.

  • Hacerle eso a un coche virgen es para matar al dueño. El coche solo tiene 246km, no tiene el rodaje hecho. Algunos coches tienen mala suerte.

  • VTEC just Kicked in YO!

  • sounds good and im liking the dials looks like a spaceship or summat lol

  • someones on crack

  • i wanna see a bolt ons type r face a mazdaspeed 3 asap

  • Thats cool and nice looking...

  • its a car for passenger or work..............

  • WOW.... I think i heard the V-TAC kick in right there...

  • and another thing my right foot controls my wheel spin not some fucking computer. What a POS!!!

  • The traction control stops the wheels spinning for a reason.... it's called safety. Like the last two days we had a tons of snow and it allows the power to be transferred instead spinning.

I only left the traction control on because the car was brand new at the time and I didn't want to go destroying the tyres.

  • Type R Ftw!

  • @2007TypeR "tires" lol just saying ; )

  • @MiChAeLrIdEsBmX

Tires is American English. Tyres is British English and in pretty much the rest of the world.

    Stick 'Tyres' in wikipedia.

Same a 'colour' is spelt 'color' in the US etc.

  • traction control controls the lose of power to maybe one wheel so that say your right front loses traction instead of your left front pushing the nose around to the right the comp. reduces the power to the left wheel so you dont start spinning in circles.

  • Oh please.... Grow up mate. 0-60 in this car is around 6.5 seconds stock which is as fast as anything else you can buy in the price range. It's a very practical car and it's cheap to run.... which is why it's the fastest selling hot hatch in the UK. You are right it's not a F1 car..... captain fucking obvious.

As for being a ricer... sorry but owning a honda doesn't make you a ricer... otherwise you would be one too? I simply made this video for those interested in the car that's all. Derkhead

  • cobalt ss turbo - $24k ?

  • They don't sell that in Europe.

Aside from the engine and suspension, that entire vehicle is junk.

  • I feel your hate. Honda's are a-b cars but people still love them. This guy was not claiming this car to be a race car. Plus a F1 is a totally different car. For your info a ricer can be any type of car now not just Japanese cars. Ricers are cars with junk on the trunk and mosquito mufflers with no performance.

  • He did not have to claim his car was a race car because the type r was engineer with the mentality of racing

  • thank fuck someone else knows what a ricer is.

  • Haven't you ride this car??? It's my dream to ride Honda civic type R.. I think Honda is the leader of Engine technology in Japan! you must know that!

  • Excellent video. Where did you fix the camera?

  • Right behind the steering wheel there is a nice little space, stuck the camera with a bit of blue tac :)

  • oh yeah now that you have mentioned it i can make it out in the reflection,

brilliant. sometimes the simplest options are the best ones!

  • POWER OF DREAMS !!

  • Cool LOVE THIS CAR!

  • uau really great I did not know was that fast :-)

  • i agree its your car and its a nice car do what you like with it and when you sell it the buyer should ask and research because aslong as the engine is running fine who cares if its been thrashed now and then its actually good for it,i hate jealous cunts they dont have a car or bike but will bag ppl for minuscule shit

  • The TCS is awesome!! Nice video!!

  • FUCK YEAH TACH!!!

  • How steep was the hill?

  • What? It was a flat road. That's how fast the car accelerates.

  • this is pure frenziness!

  • man it pulls pretty hard. How fast where you going.

  • Around 100mph

  • POWER OF DREAMS !!

  • do you know if the VSA drains HP?

  • Only if it detects wheel slip in which case it reduces power. In normal street driving I keep VSA on, for safety should I have to take evasive action. It hardly kicks in when it's dry. Also if your foot is on the floor in first gear it will let the wheels spin a bit more than normal as it assumes you want to get away quick.

  • oh, thanks for the reply

  • man its sounding like the si with more a flashy design. You Europeans are quite a phenomenon (Si's nicer sorry) (z4 and z3 damn for me its the same bullshit, long live the FD's K20A)

  • How much power does this have? I'm in the U.S. and we don't get these only the SI. SI's have 197hp out of a 2.0.

  • well, this one, if its stock, has 201 hp. so you are not really far behind

  • PS least I wont be the T**T that ends up with your car after you sell it cos I surely wont buy the new civic, not just based on what Ive seen and read but from a test drive of not a new one either where the engines are still being run in...OH forgot you dont know what that means!!!!

  • Both EP3 and FN2 are very close in terms of performance, I've had both. Actually if you had the new civic I think you would prefer it. Performance is the same but the new one sounds better, has a nicer interior, is more practical, more boot space generally just a nicer car. It's not faster but it's not slower either. I've raced my friends when mine was stock and his was half a length away to 60 but mine was half a length away up to over 100mph so quite =. Mine obviously destroys him now. :)

  • Cant beleive the muppet who filmed this thrashed his car like this with 247 miles on clock.I know honda engines are bulletproof but he deserves to blow it up, just cos he dont appreciate his car.

  • Ok mate try not to be too jealous. Just had first service and it's ticking over beautifully. I thrash my car DAILY and thats 10k miles now. I'm on my third set of pads and 3rd set of tyres, thats the extent of the thrashing. Computer says AVERAGE 15mpg over the last 10k miles too. Just had the first service and the mechanic thought the car drove like it was brand new so stick that up your arse. Too many internet know it alls. Oh and just about to order my next car...

  • Well I pity the fool who has this car after you, it`s pricks like you that sell on cars like this which they never give a shit about cos they are under warranty etc, I have my type R ep3(which I add is far superior to the new civic always will be no matter what you say) and I thrash mine abviously cos thats what they are built for but, first few 100 miles or so is just plain idiotic, MMM what you getting next then? no doubt there be a vid of you caning the f**k out of that in a short time,

  • It's his car, why do you care? Do your research before buying a used car and you won't have to worry about buying a trashed up car.

Man, so many people love blaming others for their misfortunes, does anyone take responsibility anymore?

  • Thanks man :) It's my car I'll drive it how I like. Don't know why people hating, it just stinks of jealousy!

  • Euro-spec Honda clusters look so much better.

  • I get people peering into my car all the time! Looks like a space ship inside :) :)

  • Haha, the American Civic's rev meter doesn't look nearly as nice.

  • im a muscle car guy and im used to redlining at 5,000 to 6,000 so to me this was preety amazing, awesome

  • then you'd go crazy driving an rx-8

  • vtec just kicked in yo

  • hey typeR your a putz

  • I wish I knew how to drive stick shift.

  • driving stick isnt really that hard haha

  • Tell that to the guy who's only driven an auto car, not having taken it past 3k RPM.

  • Save up your money and buy a manual car unless you just bought a auto. I hate automatics that aren't Merc's

  • extra gay.

  • not good for the brand new engine i think..

  • haha good point man ur pushing it so hard and it hasn't been broken in. Not getting the most power out of it cuz of that.

  • FAKE, GAY.

High performance engines like this do not need to be broken in over 1000 miles or some other shit. In fact it's better to rev the engine from new to break in QUICKER because the quicker you break in the less damage done to the engine.

Anyway FYI this car has done over 8k miles now including several long journeys to wales and through europe. I've done sustained speeds of 150mph in germany and it just keeps on giving. It's awesome.

  • lol you revved it harder to break in quicker? surely you jest.

High performance engines dont need to be broken in?

    Are you an idiot?

  • Do you think they break in F1 engines or ANY other RACE engine over 1000 miles? No they don't. They manufacturer the engine to high tolerances so that the engine can be broken in very quickly, less than 200 miles on the road, on the dyno even less, more like 50 miles. 1000 miles is the manufacturers recommendation and it's bullshit if you have a peformance car.

Seriously, do some research and speak to some performance car experts before you talk shit.

  • Yes, they do break in engines, not in F1 maybe because the engine only lasts 1 race weekend?

And yes the engine has high tolerances but the lifespan is largely dependant on how well you broke it in.

And an FN2 civic is not like those high performance race engines and certainly not like an f1 engine made to last 1 race.

From nascar to TRD to rally cars they all break in their brand new engines idiot. Tell me exactly which expert said u dont need to break in ur car's engine

  • Every engine needs a break in - but what sort of break in? Manufacturers sometimes say up to 5000 miles break in? Thats complete bull. You can break in an engine within 200 miles. I had a 200 mile journey back from the dealership i got the car from, during those miles i accelerated hard through the gears but stopped at 6k, and kept doing this building up the rpm to 8k or so, making sure to let the car run off in gear. Do some research, you dont have to treat a car like a little girl for 1k miles

  • You surely have no idea what you are talking about...

  • two ways to break in a an engine: trash it or drive it slowly. the reason they dont recomend thrashing a new engine is that until the rings have worn in a bit and become more compliant there is a risk of over heating components. racing teams thrash new engines because a) there is no need to make them last long b)they ususally install more advanced sensors to detect the onset of overheating before it happens. high revving engines such as vtecs or BMW m-series motors shouldnt be thrashed from new

  • A friend had an M6 and got his break in period down to 250miles on the advice of an M specialist. Needed about 3-4 oil changes before settling on fully synthetic. (normal procedure i believe is to run on semi until 1200 miles and then switch to full synthetic) As far as I know he never had a single problem before selling the car with 60k miles and 10 hard track days.

My car feels amazing and I've been revving it hard since day one. 15mpg avg over 10k miles. Will be replacing it in another 8mths

  • i think the run in period is there to maximize engine life but with modern engines being so reliable there might not be any point to them any more. clearly.

ps my uncle has a predule vti-R. bought it new and now has over 400 000 km on it. also -trashed it like a maniac from day one

  • Best way to break in a motor is to run medium revs, with a decent load on it, then let off. your either on the throttle pretty hard, or off completely, you want the parts to actually rub against each other, but not hard. You want the parts to break in by smoothing off the machine marks from the new parts. That's why with every engine you EVER come across and this could be some 600 CI bbc, to a F1 engine. They all will have trace amounts of metal particles. That's the parts rubbing. Smoothingdown

  • I followed instructions given to me by a honda engine builder. It basically involved going full throttle in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears but not letting the RPM go too high and letting off. Slowly building the max RPM and every time letting the engine slow the car down.

  • That's what I said prettymuch.

  • I dont understand what you been it,s had 8000K of redlining is the simply driving normally or redlining every time u change gear

  • As in the car has now done 8000 miles and I drive it hard all the time. I never get into the car and drive slow. Obviously I can't redline EVERY change but 50% of the time i drive hard.

This is a VTEC engine, you have to rev it hard to get the power out of it. It's designed for it

  • Oh ok now I fully understand cheers mate. I live in london with like so many cameras on every road for speeders

  • Yeah i live in London too, its a nightmare!:) I don't drive everywhere like a lunatic but you can always find a space here and there to drive hard, just not for very long!

  • yeah theres also loads of raceways.... Santa Pod raceway they have run what ya brung days where you can drive the 1/4 mile in any cra you want :)

  • i just bought a type r civic last week there great fun, they are ready to go no need for running in like a typical ford. Honda told me to get in to it for the first 1000km dont be shy about it. yes thats right all you internet know it all's thats from honda them selves every one always seams to be an expert even though they drive a festia or a shit box 10yr old skyline.

  • this car is fucked, 246 on the odometter, nice ruining the engine, moron

  • Don't be a jealous little baby. Modern high performance engines are incredibly well made and do not need to be run-in over 1000 miles or some shit.

I have a 3 year warranty. I drive my engine hard from day 1. If it breaks between now and 3 years they will replace it. Why baby your engine? If you baby your engine you will have problems in later life when you push it hard. Better to push it hard from the start and be certain of its performance.

  • i dont know about honda civic that well. my 2006 E46 M3 has very restricted break-in steps, and they put special motor oil for the first 1200 miles which must be changed in time. it is not likely that a new car's engine will fail in the first couple of years with a proper break-in, but if you wanna the best performance and a longer engine life. you better be careful, and dont take any chances. even my 2.5CC RC car engine needs a 30 minutes break-in

  • it should be "without a proper break-in", sorry for the typo

  • The reason break in periods are so long is because NORMAL USE is usually slow and stop start in traffic. You can accelerate this break in procedure yourself and it is what I did. For the first 150 miles I followed a strict regime, after that I pounded it hard.

BMW M engines require you use non synthetic oil during break in to accelerate the procedure. After you switch to fully synthetic which has better performance.

  • yeah dont be a jealous baby

    Type R vtec for life

  • Hey im only young what is 246 mean....

  • 246 miles this car has run

  • So why did you say it,s fucked lol whats wrong with it being driven 246 miles

  • it is not simply being driven. it is being redlined

  • Oh im sorry but im gunna say this car's gunna be fucked to... i mean 246 miles of redlining haha what a noob

  • certain cars need to be broken in at a certain mileage.. not all cars have the same breakin points though.. it depends on the engine manufacturer.. this honda is pretty fast.

  • Its a Honda engine, it,s Bulletproof....

  • I have been driving like this for a year now every day. 7500 miles and it still feels tight and new....

  • i really like that cluster

  • 246miles? Thats not good to do with soo little milage. Your meant to let the engine break in.. Ive got a mate with a Cupra, and he has to wait till about 1300miles for everything to kick in well to maintain a healthy engine!

  • Sorry but you don't know what you are talking about. Everyone spouts the same rubbish but the truth is this is a HIGH PEFORMANCE RACE ENGINE. It is designed to be pushed from the start and does not need to be cuddled. Do you think they run in race engines?

  • all engines need to be run in d00d. The difference with factory built cars for the road is they do the running in for ya but tell you to take it easy to protect their asses. Some cars require no run in period according to their manuals, others do. Having said that there are methods of running your car/bike in which have been proven to provide more horsepower, it envolves revving past what the book says.

  • from my point of view, its true that engines should have a run in period. but there are 2 ways to run in your engine... first being the one we are all used to, babying the car till the next oil change. the other being the hard run in where you start pushing the car hard right from the start to remove excessive debris from the internals. High compression engines should be run in the hard way to maintain the high compressions.

  • and if you've got a warrranty who gives a shit! :P

  • your warranty will be void straight away if they found out its been abused but your right vtec like this one does not require

cuddling i say let the mother F***** Riipp!!!

  • Shes a honda. She dont need to run in period. Drive it like the start like that and work it in like that for the rest of its life.

  • your the biggest fucking idiot i have seen in my entire life. end of story. lemme guess because its a honda, dont even warm up the car, just start it and rev the hell out of it. idiot

  • Don't be jealous. My car is 1 year old now and I drive it like this all the time.

The 2007 Type R does not engage V-TEC unless the engine is warm enough. In winter this can mean up to 10 minutes of slow driving. In the summer it is warmed up within 1-2 minutes of start.

Drive it like you stole it. That's my motto.

  • No way.. car cant warm up in 1-2mins.! You need definetly oil temp gauge..

  • haha im the fucking idiot eh. I drive a honda and i build them. I know what they are capable of. And no you never just start the car right up from cold and rev the hell out of it either.

Me and my father both own hondas and we both build them. Fathers car got 280,000 and is still ALL original, and we both drive it hard. Mines got 220 000 and is a 92. Drive the fucking snot out of it and it runs fine.

so leave your dumb comments to yourself

  • and your point? I had a chevy with 300k+. exactly stfu.

  • Who said you run the car hard from cold? The 2007 FN2 has a built in mechanism to protect the engine. It will not engage VTEC unless the engine is warm enough. On a hot day the car can warm up in less than 5 minutes. On a very cold day its more like 10 minutes.

After that you can rev as hard as you like. Oh and congrats on having a car with 280k miles but since i don't keep my cars longer than 2-3 years I'm not worried about how they will run in 20 years!

  • Lol, thats why the new civics have what they call the i VTECH, which i believe is the Intelligent VTECH, so it monitors everything.

Lol Shikamaru. My friend is driving a Honda Accord with 495K, other than the common maintenence it too is all Stock, NO REBUILD on the motor either! I doubt your chevy was original. Probally sounded like it was ready to blow.

  • the engine ran 246km.

the engine will like situations like that with 246km

  • Ce poste de pilotage c'est vraiment énorme. Il n'y a que HONDA pour faire ça.

    *POWER OF DREAMS*

Sinon mignon le rupteur, mais je préfère celui du B16 :p

  • thats nice i like ctr

  • ESP? I didn't know you needed to be psychic to drive.

  • i see the camera taped on the column steering wheel :) the rpms are going so quickly

  • I bet this the same engine in that civic like in Acura rsx type s in north america .

  • The engine in the Civic SI is the same that is in the Acura RSX. The engine in the FN2 European Type-R is actually much different than that and is a completely new engine code.

  • the civic Si (06) + has the k20z.... same as the euro fn type R.

  • does the CTR have the same engine as the Si in North America?

  • so why are there soo many views? did i miss something?

  • i guess the good thing is, you only have to fill it up once every two weeks lol

  • the traction light flashes when it is working! if the traction control was off the light would be on all the time

  • This car is a great buy.. great performance, great sounding and great looking =D

  • Such an amazing looking car. The normal ones look like shit and the Type-R just looks like a rocket. Ballsy styling from Honda there, and it'll last you forever too ;).

  • Good shifts!

  • Thanks :) My clutch doesn't like them though!

  • hi.man! the video is cool! could you tell me what camera did you use? thanks

  • 246 miles on the car and ur doing that hope u dont keep the cr long ur supposed t run an engine in

  • Firstly a well made modern engine does not need to be run in past the first 150-200 miles. I followed a strict run in procedure as recommended to me by a very reputable honda tuning expert who has supercharged EP3's with over 120k miles on the clock, still running strong.

Secondly I'm only keeping the car for a year :)

  • either u shut the power off or TCS did ( note the flashing light)

  • I have one to, i'm from Portugal best civic ever and fuck the rest, just the lines and the interior kicks all.

  • Putain ça masse!!!Le temps de réponse entre les passages de vitesse est incroyable!!

  • Impressive engineering as always by honda.

  • Should show us the speedo so we can see how fast it reaches 100km/hr..can you do it in the claimed 6.6secs?

  • Hey, at what rev range do you see the dots in the rev indicator? (not the tacometer, but the actual rev indicator that sits on the left of the speedometer).

  • the flashing yellow light is indicating the traction control coming on

  • Hey what's that flashing yellow warning indicator at the start? Is that bad or is normal???

  • is the 4 wheels stering ??

  • ek9 was, and still is, the quickest civic type r

  • umm no its not.. if a 96 jdm leaves it and an ep3 stays close to the itr or even takes it i dont see how thats possible

  • i said civic, not teggy, and a civic ek9 wud take a 96 JDM 0 - 60 anyway.

EP3 doesnt come close to ek9

  • (96 jdm integra r)

  • you must be talking out your arseif you think a FN2 can beat a Kproed EP3
