  • where's the banjo?

  • @dwarf2 back then banjo and fiddle were seldom if ever used on "sacred" songs as the instruments had a "bad" reputation of being involved in bars, and (gasp) dance halls and lots of the old time churches took a dim view of dancing, drinking, etc...so the instruments were seldom used.

  • rocksaltnails, I HAVE TO CONFIRM EVERY WORD YOU SAY! WELL SAID!!!!!!

todays " music " is just ill and evil manipulation of keys , buttons pressed and almost non existing souls

  • HI Jeffery

    thank you for posting this

    It is pure gold !

I am also ion Toronto, like someone mentioned earlier.

    We love blugrass here too!

  • Id rather listen to this old scratchy record than ANY of the crap that is ot today. I got goosebumps!

  • @Rcksaltnnails STILL got them goosebumps.

  • Mee too !!!

  • Great song... have to love the old 78's! I can tell you from living in the Greater Nashville area, Bill Monroe was something else!!!!

  • Back when music meant something..Thanks!

  • Great video and thank you so much for sharing this with me!!!

  • They were really good Blue Grass singers! thanks Jeffery for sharing.

  • Very good, Jeffrey. *****. Thanks for posting.

  • thanks for posting this, it made my father's day

  • i went to the new channel but didnt find videos.

  • did you say you have a new channel ? Or, you visiting my other channel ? I have a different style of videos on my other channel.

  • everyone wants to play like those three but only they can do it!

  • The sad thing is that Bill had the great Earl Scruggs but hardly ever let him loose on the banjo. When he did, the audience went wild. like with Molly and Tenbrooks. You cannot blame Lester and Earl for breaking out on their own. They were so gifted, they had a a right to have their own careers and get some of the glory.

  • somewhere in the record room I have an old 78 of similiar music. Seems he did well with the gospel music

  • just close your eyes. tingles. chills. and shivers. your healed!

  • good one.

  • thank you for posting this wonderful music!

  • This band has NEVER been surpassed...

  • Definitely!

  • THE Bluegrass Boys! This is the original 'grass right here. Earl, Lester, and Bill all had killer careers seperatly but together they were the definitive grass! No one else comes up with them in my book.

  • That is so fantastic...I hope that you keep it well preserved!!!!

  • My grandparents had a 78 Decca recording of "Wheelhoss". On the other side was "Put My Little Shoes Away". I played the crap out of it when I was a kid growing up in Toronto. I believe I still have it my crawlspace in the basement.

  • hope you find it. Id like to see a video of it playing.

  • So would I.

  • Sorry jefferyb304, but I'm too technically challenged to put it on YouTube. Besides, I don't have a record changer that can play 78's anymore.

  • thank you!!!!

  • That was Great,I never heard this one.

I can record the LP's but dont have the LP's to record lol!!!

  • I'm sorry, he may have called them the Foggy Mountain boys..it was many years ago.

  • no u had it right Bill Monroe and The Bluegrass Boys

it was Foggy Mtn. Boys wen Flatt and Scruggs were independent

  • Wow..my old memory wins !! I thought I remember

    him saying Bluegrass Boys. Thanks

  • My Dad saw Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys in Valdosta Georgia for a nickel...HA HA, many years ago..I saw Loretta Lynn in the same hall for a dollar. This is just great, and you are really top notch for playing this.

  • be sure to look at my channel, I have more Of these posted.

  • no thinking here.thanks ....its really good

  • What a good song

  • Hey Jeff--its so good to hear the true old time blue grass with the best BILL MONROE

  • sure is, I won this record on ebay along with a few other artists. You can see bubble wrap on the left side of the picture where I just unpacked these.

  • Happy Birthday, Bill!

  • There's away to connect some turntables to your computer so you can use some software like "Audacity" to record and digitalize some , of these , old recordings , remove the hiss , pops and clicks , and burn them , on a CD .

  • at the time, i didn't have a way to connect a 78 player to my computer. I have software that converts 78s played at 45 speed to 78 sound. DAK 2000 is what i use.

  • Wow a 78 record, bet it is shellac and not vinyl. Double Wow, you have a turntable that plays 78s.

  • yes im very much sure it's a shellac laminate sandwiched with paper in the center. I actually have 2 players. the second one is one of the brand new emersons that can be had for around 100 bucks. Its featured in a few of my other videos.

  • betcha so many peeps (like me) excitedly clicked on this to see these 3 together in 1978!?! LOL

  • Would have been nice. Those fueds between the three should not have happened.

  • A for effort bro  ;}
