@dwarf2 back then banjo and fiddle were seldom if ever used on "sacred" songs as the instruments had a "bad" reputation of being involved in bars, and (gasp) dance halls and lots of the old time churches took a dim view of dancing, drinking, etc...so the instruments were seldom used.
The sad thing is that Bill had the great Earl Scruggs but hardly ever let him loose on the banjo. When he did, the audience went wild. like with Molly and Tenbrooks. You cannot blame Lester and Earl for breaking out on their own. They were so gifted, they had a a right to have their own careers and get some of the glory.
THE Bluegrass Boys! This is the original 'grass right here. Earl, Lester, and Bill all had killer careers seperatly but together they were the definitive grass! No one else comes up with them in my book.
My grandparents had a 78 Decca recording of "Wheelhoss". On the other side was "Put My Little Shoes Away". I played the crap out of it when I was a kid growing up in Toronto. I believe I still have it my crawlspace in the basement.
My Dad saw Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys in Valdosta Georgia for a nickel...HA HA, many years ago..I saw Loretta Lynn in the same hall for a dollar. This is just great, and you are really top notch for playing this.
sure is, I won this record on ebay along with a few other artists. You can see bubble wrap on the left side of the picture where I just unpacked these.
There's away to connect some turntables to your computer so you can use some software like "Audacity" to record and digitalize some , of these , old recordings , remove the hiss , pops and clicks , and burn them , on a CD .
at the time, i didn't have a way to connect a 78 player to my computer. I have software that converts 78s played at 45 speed to 78 sound. DAK 2000 is what i use.
yes im very much sure it's a shellac laminate sandwiched with paper in the center. I actually have 2 players. the second one is one of the brand new emersons that can be had for around 100 bucks. Its featured in a few of my other videos.
where's the banjo?

Sorry jefferyb304, but I'm too technically challenged to put it on YouTube. Besides, I don't have a record changer that can play 78's anymore.

Wow a 78 record, bet it is shellac and not vinyl. Double Wow, you have a turntable that plays 78s.
