Not even the Right Good Reverend is advocating you end shopping completely. How could you? That's impossible! But what you CAN do is employ your brain and take a quick moment to put your money towards business entities that actually give a shit about something other than profit motive and use common sense with what you do with your money instead of falling prey to advertising. The guy is outgunned money wise by his opponents so stunts like this get the word out on the cheap(and creatively!)
I love what you are doing Reverend Billy! You make me think! I want to know more. I boycotted Starbucks after watching the great film "Black Gold", but I have now gone back to them since they made nearly all their coffee drinks fairtrade earlier this year. I signed up to their Starbucks "Red" card which gives 5p to the Global Fund to fight Aids and Hiv each time you but something at Starbucks. Have I been too hasty for the love of mild, frothy latte? Are they still way too corrupt to support?
@joms67 what the hell is your problem? this dude is crazy! say we boycotted supermarkets, where the hell else r we gona get food!? and also im pretty sure that if we stoped going to supermarkets our economy would take a nose-dive. AND america RUNS on coffee and cafine.
@atlroxmysox98 - Hello there! All I'm saying is I'm glad for the reminder to think about where i spend my money when there is the choice. I get your point about the economy, but I would rather support systems that treat the coffee-growers, for example, fairly rather than exploiting them. The film "Black Gold" showed this shocking exploitation by companies like Starbucks and how we as consumers have a big part to play. Starbucks are now largely Fairtrade. It's progress, albeit slow!
I love your work and I'm a believer! I hate shopping!
