  • This is so brutally Bad Ass!....is there someplace you can buy a copy of this performance.....Femin for a copy of solid CRANKIN ROCK!.....GB

  • The album title "Bussel in Your Hedge Row" is a line from Stairway.......

  • my fav zeppelin song

  • PHILCORE !

  • DAMN...I DIDN'T KNOW THIS SONG COULD GET HEAVIER AND STILL BE OK!! - F N A PHIL !!!

  • Anything with Anselmo is gonna kick ass!

  • Some people have never heard any band do something live...such as sleeperkickers...

  • It's interesting to think of Jimmy's riffs in a metal context. Look how well it works out.

  • and Walk

  • dont liked so much pantera and down but this is a f'n awesome cover!

  • All you shit talkers out there, we wanna hear your recorded version at probably 7 or 8 in the morning ON A RADIO station. I'm sure we'll show you the same respectful criticism......I cant stand it when people criticize another's tribute of dedication to someone else's art or music....FUCK YOU who the hell are you to judge someone else's love and respect to another?

  • splendid find!

  • OH MY GOD THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED TO HEAR! \m/ LIFER \m/

  • check out Roadsaw's cover of this song. It is truer to the original and better arranged.

  • who ever down is the butchered a classic!!!! led zep is the greatest band ever and no one can even come close to the awesomness!!!!!!!

  • @ledzeppelin611 I love zeppelin to dont get me wrong but fuck that, they just jammed it out on a radio station. greatest band ever no one can come close i highly doubt..

atleast down writes they're own songs, not just sift through a bunch of old obscure blues bands and old acts they used to gig with and steal all their music and claim it as their own, and try to make people pay out their ass for rights to use "their" song they didnt even write.

  • @rampageatdawn have you ever read the liner notes of a zeppelin album? they always credit the original artists.

  • @RKDmirajx only after Willie Dixon tried to sue them when Whole Lotta Love came out.

  • @ledzeppelin611 so i guess the only way i can put it yes zeppelin is fucking awesome no doubt. ...they will always be my favorite cover band

  • @ledzeppelin611 agree, but phils a much better vocalist, maybe not on this cover, and dont forget phil played with the greatest guitarist in the world only second to hendrix..DIMEBAG

  • i like this alot !

  • Is this live?

  • too slow in tempo :(

  • Is their version of the song, they wont do the same as Zeppelin. In my opinion, when you cover a song, you need to add something different than the original version, if not you're just playing the same...just give your touch.

  • been blaring this and the Led'd version the past few weeks in Natchez hopin' they don't break like in NOLA during Katrina

  • Not really a Down fan but I have to say, I really, really like this a lot!

  • where can I get this song Ive tried EVERYTHING and I cant find it anywhere can anyone help me out?

  • blues guys, not metal

  • actually its not a led zep song they jsut made it popular

  • Fucking AWESOME! Everything that Phil does is just great! Can't wait to hear their 2011 record...

  • @PrisyazhnyukMike It won't be as good as NOLA, as much as I support Down and see them EVERY time they come over to the UK. What I mean is that NOLA is just one of those albums...

  • GAY!

  • this is why i dont listen to Down anymore. Fucking Gay

  • the guitar sounds like if rob zombie had come up with this riff

  • are you guys high? this music is shit

  • @Kaosmanaaa LMAO yes, being high is one major reason for being into Down's music, it's true - do some research.

  • Deff is Phil. Around Down 3 he started singing like that with the high pitches and brovado again.

  • sorry cochran8201 but that is definitly Phil singing this without a doubt. Phenominal cover done by Down i must say!!

  • ive listened to pantera and down for 20 goddamn years and that aint phil singing this shit.bet

  • @Cochran8201 So you've been listening to them since you were 6 years old? Sorry dude, but I don't find it hard to beleive this is Phil singing at all.

  • Fuckin love it

  • i don't care what anyone says, this is a really cool drum sound, obviously it will never compare to bonham's, but on its own it's a monster as well

  • @RacismIsSchism and btw I don't even like DOWN, i was just searching for when the leevee breaks covers

  • zepp only made the best cover of the song

  • @sleeperkickers stop talking out of your ring piece you idiot

  • @atl2410 - to be fair, Meshuggah, Tool (and A Perfect Circle) are great bands, I couldn't live without them. Plus Tool and APC have both done brilliant covers of Zep songs (No Quarter in Tool's case, this song in APC's), doing something completely different to Zep, making them their own, which I think is cool. Down aren't really doing anything new, it's a fanboyish tribute and none the worse for that! Both ways are equally valid. This is a bit rough around the edges, but that gives it character.

  • @sleeperkickers if you really want a good cover of no quarter listen to the cover crowbar made

and by the way YOU dont Have to like this song

dont bash something you dont understand prick

  • @sleeperkickers This is not Metal. This band does not sound like Pantera. It IS sloppy bullshit, but I fucking love it because it's 5 Southern NOLA guys covering a song by a band they love...for fun. It sounds like they recorded it in a garage; and if you can't cover a song you like in your garage, then you aren't having fun doing it.

  • @sleeperkickers you porbably know only bleed and rational gaze cuz they are first when you type meshuggah on youtube .... poser kid -.-

  • @sleeperkickers ur a fukin retard!!! lol

  • @sleeperkickers Phil and Rex are from Pantera, duh. thats why they sound like pantera

  • @sleeperkickers Who said Down is a metal band? 5 guys from different metal bands who come together to make kick ass music. They're very influenced by many classic rock bands from the 70's, really old school hardcore and metal that forms a sound that has a true spirit of bad ass rock and roll. You are very ignorant. Do your homework Jackass!

  • Comment removed

  • @sleeperkickers Man, we love all those bands, too, but for different reasons, you short-sighted commenter, you! You don't want to listen to Meshuggah when you want some STONED southern groove and blues in the metal, nor Tool. They're not a prog band, man! Also, none of those bands can play sludge (or choose to). Led Zeppelin probably had some groupie squirt on their head - Down are actually FROM NOLA, where the Levee actually broke, so they did this cover. Make any more sense now?

  • @sleeperkickers yeah they idolized them so much, that they used actual whole verses of lyrical content, whole riffs, whole songs in some cases . when you do this then try to credit it as your own works, that is stealing regardless of how much you idolize what you took. making a movie pay out their ass for rights to your song you DIDNT write is a bit beyond idolization its plagiarism, what ever excuse you want to throw on it if they really had respect for those artist they would credit them

  • @sleeperkickers Actually, there are quite a few documented cases of Zep ripping off other songs. And they have apologised for those. Zeppelin is my favorite band in the universe and the whole reason I play drums is John Bonham. But dude. Totally ripped off quite a few of their songs.

  • @revrend2 ALL musicians have influences and it comes thru. Robert Johnson used other guys shit with a few changed lyrics, and ZEPPELIN took alot of influences of all kinda genres and mixed it in to create absolutely GENIUS music. It's how it works just do what sounds good to you and is from the heart, and that makes TRUE art.

  • @sleeperkickers You mention that Zeppelin didn't rip off any blues artists, they idolized them. Do you think that the members of Down don't idolize Led Zeppelin?

  • @sleeperkickers mesuggah is ok tool is ok when you're in the mood but they are two very over Produced albums this shit is fucking raw talent DOWN kicks the shit out of both tool and mesuggah

  • @sleeperkickers Douche.

  • This isn't a Zep cover, jackass. You're either really dumb, really racist or you're trolling. I'm gonna guess it's a bit of each.

  • @TheDullahan yeah it is...

  • New Down CD just came out.... a greatest hits version, and I'm so pissed off this song is not on there! WHY? I WANT THIS DAMN SONG ON CD!

  • @DougF420 its a cover of led zeppelin

  • @theEddievanhalen Hey my friend... yeah I know. Just wanted it on Down's new Greatest Hits CD. And actually, it's not a cover from Led Zeppelin... which I'm a huge fan of, but it's one of about 20 songs Zeppelin ripped off from the great old black blues artists. Memphis Minnie originally put out, When The Levee Breaks, in 1929.

  • @DougF420 yea but they didnt claim it in time for anyone to not steal it

  • @theEddievanhalen Zep never wrote this song.

  • great cover....but Bonzo is better

  • @jessicazepplified you wanna get married? Never met you, but just those three lines of text is a damn good start!

  • I can't stop listening to this.I hope they put this on their new album

  • sweet home louisiana... have you guys heard that one?? down playin their version od sweet home alabama,

  • When Anselmo opens his goddamn mouth, in my opinion seriously everybody shut the fuck up and just listen. There are no mucians like they are, with the same attitude and the sound. These gyus are holding the key to the future, not like those mainstream emo/goth/scene fags. they are all doomed when the real music comes back to business. Lots of Respect to these guys, and thanks for posting this.

  • @paskiiainen Phil Anselmo all day.

  • it's good to see metal bands like Down and Mastodon, and im sure others, pay tribute to the amazing led zeppelin. it just shows that led zeppelin can traverse any rock oriented genre.

  • hmmmmmmmmm not robert plant thats for sure how long has this band been together?

  • @cassgmaj Since 1991

  • I saw them opening for AC/DC, they really know how to put on a show!

  • Beneath the tides..that's all I'm say'in. Love it.

  • how can i download this song?i cant find it anywhere

  • @Maltaskin type in ' youtube to mp3' on google and copy and paste this link in the first website i think

  • @abar1204 i'll give it a try..thx bro

  • @Maltaskin no problem

  • awsome cover..i cant wait to see them again

  • This really freagin rocks!!!

  • what an unfortunately appropriate song for a New Orleans band to play... down is the best! Long Live NOLA!!

  • Perfect! Unfortunately, in so many ways....

  • They made it heavy as HELL!!!! In My Time Of Dying would be a good one I think too if they make a version someday maybe....

  • Down's version is so different, they really made it their own

  • Studio version on some upcoming LP would be a good idea... Slide guitar songs like this are just crushing!!!

  • i love hat solo pepper throws in there at the end. i love this cover

  • Down is one of the best bands around today. And this is a fucking awesome cover.

  • so damn right!

  • the soul of this song is the drum and they just kill it

  • Everyone copies somebody.. it's called inspiration.. lol.. their's only SO many notes on the fretboard lol..

  • did you even read my comment?

there is a video series that a guy posts from time to time and hundreds of other videos that are similar that other users post. the one i watch occasionally is called "metal that sounds like other metal". its by baknblack. he has near a hundred videos. and thats just one user covering one genre of music. like i said, it happens most likely more by accident than any thing else. i know it because i play the guitar and have done it by accident.

  • @fupasack2 yeah.. happens all the time to me and my bandmates too lol... we wrote a whole song one night and realized the next day that it was pretty much Black Magic and Spirit Crusher combined lol..

  • cunt

  • pretty much every good band from the sixties and seventies got sued for something like that. you should search youtube for metal and rock songs that sound alike. it happens all the time in music probably more by accident than anything else

  • This is why lawyers dont write music.. SHUT UP and enjoy the music!

  • Maybe it was plagarism, but I doubt it sometimes, because they covered those songs with good intentions, the bluesmen were the biggest inspiration to the band, why would they just "rape" them of their art?

  • it doesnt matter how good the intentions were - theft is theft

  • It's called a "cover," idiot.

  • I was talking about Led Zeppelin you stupid prick. Learn to read.

  • I know you were. Zeppelin didn't change the name of those songs, so how are they not simply covers with their own spin on it? (the Stairway progression I'll give you, although it's really not that similar)

  • I like this cover, they really beefed up this tune.

  • southern blues is the mother of rock and roll and metal and just about everything else as well. everything worth a shit can be traced back to the south!!!

  • the truth :) i LOVE southern rock metal man, post amplification blues

  • I get tired of people asserting that Zep did rip-offs. Try taking something lame like this "This old man" and creating an anthem out of it.

  • Not a good cover. Some of the guitar is ok though.

  • I like the song,I wonder if down knows it's a cover of a old blues song.

  • I'd say they do, growing up around New Orleans, and playing rock / metal, alot of it revolves around blues music. I do love anything that Phil releases!

  • I'm sure they do, it's just they obviously covered Zeppelin's take on it. Honestly the only similar thing is the lyrics, the song pretty much belongs to Zeppelin.

  • Phil could cover Jessica Simpson's music and it would sound great. All 234 of Phil's bands kick ass.

  • This is actually a nice cover and adds to the dense atmosphere that this song is supposed to have.

  • This is a good cover done by a very talented band, not sure what type of sound Phil was aiming to achieve with his vocals. But good cover none the less can't wait for Aug. 7 have me my meet and greet tickets with Down. Thank very F****** much.

  • Who the hell brought up the Jonas Brothers on this vid - i was trying to convince myself that they weren't real..!

  • its on a bbc recording done in 2008

  • where you get this track? its not on any of my down cd's? this is the first i have heard of down covering led zepp!!!!!

  • unreal, cant fucking wait to see these guys in a month and a half.

  • sick! only bands like Down shud b alowed to cover the Gods

  • Everyone needs to remember the Roadsaw cover of Leeves, they fucking rule! Down's version is okay...

  • um heh fuck you

  • hey i'm not hating on Down, I fucking love Down! Its fucking Led Zeppelin, its hard for anyone to cover 'em. I just think Down are too fucking heavy to be covering Zep, what about Sabbath?!

  • It's a Louisiana blues song written by Memphis Minnie in the early 30's. Zepplin didn't write it.

  • Zeppelin covered it, it's a classic blues song

    :)

  • Zeppelin didn't cover shit. They made it what it is. Before them it was just some scant little nothing. The progressions employed by Page weren't even in the original.

  • Well arn't you in denial! No artist keep the song the same, what would be the point of covering it if you didn't make it you're own?? And no matter how much u change the song its still a COVER! "Zeppelin didn't cover shit", I'm afraid, is wrong. Lots of songs have been made into something from nothing...... their still a COVER! Peace Out.

  • I'll you give you credit -at least in a literal sense to the definition of a cover. -This is where it stops, though. Now, find me a song cover out there (besides "Love Hurts" by Nazareth) that comes close to anything Zep did and you've won. Agreement contigent on approval of example(s) given and only valid if the song in question has made it to the top 100 hard rock albums of all time by a reputable poll established by a rock magazine, polling institution, or any establishment thereof.

  • I think you're to set in you're ways and to much of a led zeppelin fan to listen to any suggestions I throw at you. But on the off chance that you have the ability to admit you're wrong I have 4 words for you, "All along the watchtower".

  • that was jimi hendrix covering bob dylan. and the world was better for it too, bob's version is terrible :P

  • you are stupid some stuff was ripped note for note lyric for lyric. the reason why these black men zepplin ripped off didnt do anyhting about it was because THEY WERE BLACK , it was a different time and age. now when you buy certain zepplina lbums it says old blues peoples names on the cover.

  • wait this bands singer is phil ansomol right ? (singer for pantera)

and the guitar track is too dirty(too distorted, tuned to low, too much reverb, bad amp channels)

  • The point of a cover tune is to recreate the song in your own style. This is totally Downs style, if you don't like it, maybe Good Charlotte will re-cover this tune and make it sound all weak and shit the way you like it... retard.

  • no shit,i know what a cover is dumbass.

im saying the guitarist doesnt have a god damn clue on how to get a good tone.

if you like shit like this you must want to blow the Jonas brothers......AssHat

  • dude... AssHat... J... yes that is ansomol, he also did lead vocals for a band called

Down, look it up. Then show me what you have done better than Kirk Windstein (guitarist for Down) then maybe your input would actually matter... who the F are the Jonas brothers anyways, you silly cunt.

  • all I'm saying is i don't like his tone, but if you want to get technical with skills between me and him, fine tell me Kirk's best work. becuase so far i'm not impressed

  • Don't compare Down to the Jonas Brothers. That's just silly.

  • What the hell about his tone is similar to the Jonas Brothers', or if someone liking his tone is synonymous with blowing the Jonas brothers, is what I wanna know.

And anyway, if his tone is the sole reason for you disliking the band you must just not like hard rock music.

  • no dude i love heavy music i just dislike his tone in this song, that's it. if he went for more of a eric peterson tone (Testament) i probably would have liked it better.

in general i dont like the guitar, and if you all can just respect that then mabey i would'nt disrespect what you all like in music.

  • I would respect it just fine if not for the "if you like Down you must wanna blow the Jonas Brothers" comment

  • then i guess thats my bad then

  • hes not trying to be technical hes tryin to give the song soul and feel. Get your shit straight, i know critizing things makes you feel better about yourself but know what the fuck you're talking about first.

  • agreed

but even led zeppelin had trouble recreating it

it was fucked around with a shit in the studio

  • this is the perfect song for Down to cover

  • your a fucking idiot....perfect circle....hahaha

  • APC did no quarter im afraid my man.

  • actually tool did no quarter and apc DOES do this song. its even on c.d. so get your facts right before you put someone down in front of the whole world. no quarter is on tools album salival, and when the levee breaks is on apc's emotive.

  • dude zeppelins my fav band and downs like my 4th so this is a dream come true

  • anybody know where i can download this song at? cant find it anywhere

  • o man this is fuckin awesome they should have put this on a studio album. can't wait for them to release down 4

  • pepper rulz!!!!

  • hey, does anybody know where i can a hold of the entire session? like downloading it or whatever? get back to me soon as ya can with an answer it'll be most appreciated! thanks:)

    KEEP IT METAL!!

  • ya man it sounds good

  • This is fuckin' amazing!!!

  • Aaaaawesome.... \m/

    Phil is the man!

  • I do, when I get chance I'll throw em up on here too.

  • the riff after 5.08 doesnt belong there its not in the original version

it sounds awesome does anyone have an idea where that riffs from or how to play it?

  • it sounds like Deep Purple. Highway Star? Maybe?. But it is Deep Purple.

  • what?

  • dude, this is zeppelin. learn your music

  • Retard!!! If you read the other comments, Someone said there is a break in the song at 5:08 That does not belong. That song break sounds like Deep Purple too me. Pay Attention

  • Hey, you are right! It soulds like Deep Purple's "Burn." But slightly changed.

  • You really need to find a worse quality mp3. You know what,
