  • This guy is in denial.

  • Dictating what the consumer wants is not good marketing.

  • amd that is to complicated for us

  • so he lets his tech burn a hole in the company?

ECS put out a AM3 board. 2 months till the CPU shows up?

my new X58, i7, 6gb DDR3. show up next week.

It only gets better for Intel at this point.

    bye AMD.

  • DDR3 cost is not that bad

  • gotta disagree with you there, it was twice as expensive on new egg compared to ddr2.

maybe it has changed from last I saw it, but who knows.

  • Indeed this will SAVE AMD for now...fact is EVERYTHING DDR3 and X58 boards are 2-3 times the price of DDR2/P45/760-790.

So you can use the Deneb in current AM2+ boards and enjoy and later can use it in the AM3 boards to get its full power.

  • he's CRAZY!

  • He's either insanely stupid to be able to fool himself into believing what he's saying, or he's a good actor getting it out...though he doesn't look totally convinced about what he's saying.

I'm not in Intel's corner: I'm running an AMD CPU right now.

But gimme a break, clearly Intel's been way ahead of AMD since the release of the Core2's. There's no arguing ... at all. It's like arguing there's more people in Iceland than China!

  • lol, yeh I bet John Fruehe when at home is building a Nehalem core i7 Platform PC.

  • All i can say is amd is falling behind point made it quality v.s quantity people by nature want the best and will go for a more expensive "better" processor so long as price permits Intel is right on the edge of being over priced but they have the best there is Amd is only surviving by offering ok stuff for an ok price in the end they are only killing themselves slowly

  • Core i7's are better at multi threaded applications. Most games are not multi threaded though. So Deneb will definitely be the better chip when it comes to gaming performance.

Don't get me wrong though, Core i7's are EXCELLENT when used in servers.

  • yes all I want is something good for gameing but don't want to pay twice as much by going with intel.

  • lol, 300 bucks for an i7 is EXPENSIVE compared to the quad cores they have now? You are right, THATS WAY OVERPRICED!

    LOL IDIOT!

  • the mother board cost even more.

    2.66ghz i7 + x58 = 650-700 bucks

    amd 2.6ghz + 790fx= 350-400

i am not going to pay that much more for a cpu and mobo when then gen x58 will die out.

plus i have a 790fx right now easy change

  • Good to see he's positive... Retard.

  • Dude Nehalem is gonna crush AMD Phenom. The Intels today crush Phenom, you got too little cache.I love the old AMD's before Phenom i think Phenom is the most messed up cpu i have seen.

  • The 45nm Phenom is what the old Barcelona should be. It has a lot more L3 cache, lower power consumption, higher clock speeds and overall improvements.

Performance is only one part of the story. Look at how the (performanc-wise) superior GTX 280 from nVidia lost the market to the cheaper and more advanced HD4800 series.

  • Shanghai can do the same als de Nehalem for servers. They both perform great but they are on a different price point so its no problem for AMD to have the second fastest CPU in server business.

  • It can barely run a ps2 emulator, if it even does.

  • Hmm. Well this guy talks the talk but with their profits in the Red for the past 8 quarters how is he to judge Intel who has been breaking profit records?

Sorry but this guy didn't mention that they will also be moving to a new socket in for servers by 2010. Sg34. Look it up.

  • if they make sooo much profite ... than please explain to me why they lay off 5000 workers ... hmmmm ... ohhh yeah they are doing sooooo wellllll, wow ...

  • I should correct myself ... it was 6000 or something ... with that less of a work force the end product will suffer .... usually the case ... as of now AMD is not laying off anyone ... that might change, but we will see ...

  • What? They just laid off 1100 workers. Now lets compare. Intel had 22 straight years of profits, check their reports, and the last 4 quarters have been record breaking.

AMD on the other hand has had 8 quarters straight of loss, their new Phenom II doesn't match Kentsfield on a clock per clock basis let alone Core i7 and are much smaller. So that 1100 is much bigger when you look at the companies size.

  • AMD has been spanking Intel for the past ten years!!

Only recently with the Q6600 have they

    FINALLY got something that rocks:)

Untill AMD steps up and smacks'em down again ^_^

  • I take Intel all day because even todays Intel cores can beat Phenom.I only pick AMD when i cant afford to get Intel

  • I wish AMD would actually put the money where their mouth is and give us a CPU that is worthy of bragging rights. I like AMD and would hate to see them have to submit to Intel... I couldnt imagine how shitty things would be if Intel was able to monopolize the market.. prices would sky rocket and you would have to do a total system upgrade every two months just to keep up with technology. You take away the competition and they can do what ever they want.

  • @LordSamuelJ

You guys do understand Intel has always been like 10x bigger then AMD from the start? From the start Intel has owned 90% of the market? The reason you can get an i7 for $250 is because of AMD .

  • @warmoviesboy Yup I am aware of this. But that doesnt mean AMD cant make a better cpu than intel. They have made better cpus from the start all the way up to the core 2. Personally I wont buy intel because of their corrupt business practices and the whole anti trust thing.

  • AMD should be worried! Nehalem will break into AMD's last stand - the HPC, virtualization and multi-socket server markets. Just look at announcements from Cray, HP, IBM, NASA... etc. Seeing leaked Nehalem benches at XS, Chiphell, Hexus... comparing it to leaked Deneb benches at ITCorp and Hardspell... the gap is increasing much more further.

  • agreed!ddr3 is verry expensive and unstable at this time

  • It neither unstable, nor expensive -- though priced higher than DDR2, 80 bucks for 2 gigs is not expensive....

  • amdATI ROCKS!!!!
