  • BBC have been showing a clip of Pans' People, dancing to this (how bizarre!) over the New Year 2012. I think Flick Colby may have got a gong. But even a dedicated Family freak like me will admit that PP leaping about look better than Roger, especially when you've seen him a zillion times. PLEASE can someone find and post it on Youtube. It wasn't any recorded version I've ever heard, and they may have been present playing Live. The BBC already had a TOTP film of the band, the one that got me hooked

  • I like this version better than the album one because there is the wah-wha guitar at 0:28 which is absent on the album. I own this single version on the Family 5 CD box-set "Old Songs New Songs". I will probably post this song on HD

  • Brilliant.. I still have this too..

  • Just a great song from one of the great live bands...memories!!!

  • Brilliant song...what a great voice!! Happy memories!! Thanks for posting this on You Tube!!

  • That guitar chord at 0:28 to 0:31 is not on later releases.

  • Loved this the first time I heard it, when it was first released...haven't stopped loving it since. Glorious!!

  • Family. Streetwalkers. Chappo. GREAT and thanks.

  • For the true magic of this work of art, open another window and read the lyrics to this song as it plays. Superb.

  • Terrific stuff from a band who deserved stacks more credit - I put them up there with Tull at that time . . .

  • Looking for a Top of the Pops show with Flick Colby dancing to the Weavers Answer it rocked.................

  • Oooh this is so good. Forgot how much I loved this. Roger Chapman had such a distinctive voice and style, it made you pay attention.

  • Aint a bad version seeing as it has the ghostly accompanying vocal in the final verse.

  • Whats on the B-side?

  • @furakkueroru Who can remember? with al the medication in those days!

  • @furakkueroru The B side had 2 tracks, Strange Band and Hung Up Down. The single was in a red cover with b+w band mugshot.

  • @pragnerp Thanks! That is where the other version of Hung Up Down is from that is different to the one on LP!

  • @pragnerp I've stil got my copy!!! I treasure it!!

  • Prodigieux!

  • saw Family live at Lancaster Uni when you could smoke in the hall - when big names played the uni circuit and it didn't cost a fortune when we were young - brilliant stuff

  • Absolutely Fantastic..................never again will gifted bands such as Family tread the earth....so sad people.

  • Amazing track from an all time amazing band. A million times better than anything turned out nowadays from the bullshit, crap riddled xfactor music business. From the days when music meant something....

  • olly 1950

superb band , they were part of my musical education

  • This is the BEST version.

Does it exist on CD with the wah-wah guitar in the intro?

  • It's available on itunes - Best of Family and friends - I've just downloaded it and it has the wah wah bit.

  • My all time favourite along with Tin Soldier

  • COOOOOOOOOL
