Billy Gibbons. One of the most underrated guitarists ever. A genuine talent and I don't really like ZZ Top barring their early stuff but Gibbons....good lord. Incredible talent.
@dannyd1572 You can't get that full sound with just one guitarist. I'd bet that the guy was just playing to thicken up the sound, not to do the leads. It isn't quite the same as if he was covering for Billy, and Billy couldn't really play.
@ironbuttermilk Yeah, I agree. The Stones have Blonde Chaplin over with the backup singers stage right. He holds an acoustic to give the Stones that fuller sound. I just always wanted to believe ZZ Top was different. LOL
@dannyd1572 What about all the synths? They don't bother you? I've always thought it was slightly lame that bands like Zep had a dozen guitars on their album tracks, and yet NO rhythm guitar live. When you listen to their live concerts it sounds pretty thin. Not bad, just . . . . . waaaaayyy minimal.
Rocky Hill was a friend of mine. Check out Rocky's music he was a great blues player. He was so excited when Dusty said thanks to him at this presentation. R.I.P Rocky Hill, I miss you.
Just wanted to share that I saw the ZZ Top guy giving the speech at my doctor's medical building in Century City recently. Getting into his custom Scion with little skulls and ZZ top stuff in place of emblems. Trip. Keeping healthy I suppose! This was about a couple of months ago, something like that. I was like hey! Thats ZZ Top, in me head of course...

Seen them in concert. Was very dissapointed to see they had a guitar player sitting behind the stage playing.
