@PatTornado The movie "Das Boot" is based on the novel "Das Boot" (in engl.: "The U-Boat") and a little bit on the second part of the novel "Das Boot" called ->"Die Festung" ("The Fort"), all composed by LOTHAR-GÜNTHER BUCHHEIM.

During the 2nd WW, Buchheim was reporter / commentator for the German War Ministry - and exactly as it is shown in the film, he had to accompagny boats and its`crew.

In the film - Buchheim is represented by the storyteller, the young red-haired reporter.

Geil gemacht.... muss man neidlos anerkennen.... wer den film mal im original sehen möchte sollte mal als suchbegriff "das boot teil 1 von 23" eingeben und dann alle 23 teile gucken.... Naja ist die 3 stunden directors cut version aber 4,5 stunden zusammen schneiden mit soviel langweiligen wasserszenen und sich das dann angucken ist auch terror^^

@MoMDMW in der 4,5 stundenfassung gibts es aber scenen die, wich ich finde, nicht fehlen dürfen und die "geistigen Kommentare" von Grönemeyer fehlen auch in der DC Fassung.

des weiteren füge ich meine Meinung dazu und sage das dieser Film der geilste ANTI Kriegsfilm ist den ich kenne.

I tried to make things look somehow the same as the great Movie, as you see, with limited possibilities given to me by the PC-Game "The Movies" that's all i could do i guess! : )

In der Tat steckt viel Arbeit in so einem kleinen Film. Inspiriert vom Original hab ich Lust verspürt ein Remake zu machen so gut es geht.

Teil 3 werd ich voraussichtlich nach Erscheinen von Silent Hunter 5 (02.03.10) in Angriff nehmen. :)

I agree with you, Das Boot is a masterpiece of Wolfgang Petersen. His movie inspired me to continue playing Silent Hunter III and later i did see another YouTube movie telling a bit the story of Das Boot which inspired me to do a Das Boot movie too. If you don't like the movie that's ok, but no need to insult here anyone, with primitive words!

Special Thanks to Mr. Fleck who gave me good advice and Inspiration about Silent Hunter III - Modding, Game & Video improvement! : ) I could fix most of my Software-Hardware Problems about Graphics and creating movies in HD Resolution. I may continue the Boot-Series, Silent Hunter III and other Videos by creating one or more HD-1280x720 Videos for better Graphics.

I try to picture from the Movie "das Boot" whatever can be arranged and pictured by the "Silent Hunter III" and "The Movies" Games. Since the video-work is spontaneous i cannot predict when the next one will be done, can be weeks or months...it's a long way to Tipperary...! ; )
