Been supporting Canadian music sinse the middle 90ths with bands like the Lowest of The Low, Hayden, The Watchmen and more, and I cant stop wondering why Canadian music like this never hits world wide. First time I heard this song and this band, and this song reminds me a lot of the music era I used to love back then. I feel there is tons of REM in this song, without even knowning what the rest will bring me tonite... (Great Stuff)
This is an awesome song.. love the words, the performance.. everything, including the drummer just giving it.. and yet its a slow song.. really well done video I think. Thank-you for posting this.. its one of my favorites :))
@mc96af Funny, I'm the complete opposite. At the time this song came out, I was desperately single and hoping someday, someone would sing a song like this to me. So it was kind of a dark time for me. I'm glad others have good memories. I'm happy now. Those dark times are gone, so I can enjoy this lovely song more. :)
Searching for music on youtube I accidently ran across this band and I love this song. Thanks for introducing them to me:) I will definately look for more by them.
I find this a very interesting song for it is incredibly positive and affirming while soon after very firm about not following after his love if she leaves? I wish it did not have this negative part. i want to sing this to my love over and over without any hint of negativity.
cjuntrin - you said it best. This song is brilliant. It is simple yet astonishing. I really believe it is one of the best Canadian songs ever written.
Andy was my roommate at Western , Medway residence, for the first half of our Frosh year. Great guy, one of the funniest guys I've ever met. He dropped out at Christmas. I guess he was destined for bigger and better things. Couldn't be happier that he made it big.
Loved this song in '91. The band came to town a year later. Andy comes up, 'Hi, I'm Andy'!. I begged guitar picks from Peter and the bass player with the world's most dangerous sideburns. A great gig! Such talents guys!
I absolutely luv this song! Brings me back to the good times...simple tune expresses so much...i remember seeing Andy @ the MLG when i used to watch the Maple Leafs
yay! i love the skydiggers! i've been listening to them since i was 10 years old, they are great. bittersweet harmony is still one of my favourite CDs.
Among the most under-rated bands in Canadian music history, along with Cowboy Junkies, Spirit of the West and others. It's too bad most of the world only knows the crap music of Nickelback as Canadian rock. Their loss, but I wish Canadians would support gems like this more.
Great piece of Canadiana. There was so much great canadian music in the 90's that it seems only a select few appreciated. I'm sure there is some great Indy music not getting its due today because of the recycled packaging of todays music bands.
they tour often with the cash brothers..skydiggers,,are ..whats the word..a gem..absolute treat..if anyone has seen them live..u know there arent huge studio trix here..there vocal range, harmonies are simply amazing. for those that have never heard of these guys..think of CSN&Y. thanks for posting..
andy maize (lead singer) is head of maple records out of Toronto (signed Joel Plaskett, etc.) and still tours with the band. They still release albums regularly...
ps. his nephew plays drums in my band...just doin our part
Dude, Your uncle looks like Cam Neely. And that's not a bad thing. Great drummer, great group. I only realized last week that they are the guys playing road hockey in the Barenaked Ladies video "Lovers In A Dangerous Time."
I love this song, it's one of my all time favourites! Thank you for posting! I tried to buy this song on iTunes, but it wasn't available yet.
I saw the Skydiggers live at the bandshell at the "Festival of Friends" with my sister and they were simply the best; great music on a warm summer's night while sitting on the grass in the park. I long for those long, carefree, summer days again....
We used to drop everything if there was a Skydiggers show within 200 km of Calgary. One night at Sparky's ( old Cowtown room ) was so riveting that everyone simply stood transfixed: it was near Valentine's Day, and the whole place was full of couples... As a musician of 20 years, I still haven't seen another band not only read an audience as well as they did that night, but give us what we wanted with such sublime skill and devotion. It's still the best live show I've ever attended.
This song was part of the soundtrack of when my life completely changed. I was 18 and away from home in the mountains of the B.C. interior. I wrote my first in a book my sister gave me. Wow. This really takes me back.
Wow, I got goosebumps right away, memories of the Albion Hotel...was anybody else there? Skydiggers were there a lot... last time I saw them was a couple of years ago with the Cash brothers, what a treat! You could've dropped a pin in the audience, we were so riveted by their always-breathtaking performance.
One of my all-time favorite songs. Got to interview them for a university radio program for their next album, Restless, and was a little star-struck at the time. Great guys who ended up making some pretty darn great music. Thanks for posting this one.

This is one Hell of a song!!! I love the beat too!!!
The words speak a particular message as well. Would anybody out there like to tell me what it is?? (I already know), but I'm curious to see if anyone else see's it like I do... just curious!
This takes me back to 1994 when I was at art college. A friend had seen them live in Canada and brought me back a tape, I have been looking for their music ever since.
After a grueling night of work, I clicked on a link my brother sent me, and low and behold, a great piece of Canadian pop. NYC is where I live, but T.O. will always be home. Thanks for posting, and thanks to the boys for making truely great music.
Oooh, thanks for posting this. This video is what got me into the Skydiggers. Check them out live whenever you can... they play Toronto every so often.
