Because its the best all around truck? Although its not as fast it tows more, and is better tower, a better off roader, and it has more and better features then the other trucks. Though if I am getting a truck just for show the the Dodge ram will always be the best truck.
You can't get more than a 5.4 in a light duty Ford? In HD's I'd seriously consider a SuperDuty, but in the light duties the 6.2Silverado w/ 6-speed is hard to beat.

word is the 4.6 and 5.4 are also being dropped in favor of that new 5.0 and BOSS 6.2 that have been confirmed across the entire model line, not just niche vehicles like the SVT Raptor

As far as I know right now its a 6.2 and a 5.0, and both will have a truck variant.
