  • THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION:

WHERE WERE THE BLACK MEN TO DEFEND THE BLACK WOMEN? WHERE?

  • havnt seen this movie yet but it was filmed in the town a live in

  • I favor capital punishment, but this case does not justify using the death penalty because the guy she killed was in self-defense. If Lena Baker didn'tt kill the guy that got her put in the Georgia electric chair, then he woulda killed her. I think she shoulda been acquitted. Period, case closed.

  • this is so sad i cryed the whole time

  • That all white Jury in the movie should have been put to death..what fuckin racist dumbasses they had back then??

  • wow, why were white's so hateful back then.?

  • @berlynn2

    Back THEN??!! You're joking right?

  • @MrTracythomas1 naw i'm not jokein.

  • @berlynn2 back then????...still the same now.. not to be rude but look around you...

  • This movie made me cry the whole time.

  • This movie made me cry every minute

  • i cried the whole time watching this movie with my cuzin wat ta woman went through fuck that raper guy he shudve gotten electricuted

  • Wonderful powerful movie and

  • Thats messed up all she did was difend herslef so she could se her kids she didnt derserve what she got

  • Well I was'nt there, so I dont know . But I can imagine a black woman in the south back then was little more than property. Thats why I cant understand why they accept the same abuse now. I'm sure she was just tired of being a thrid class citizen and being used for a toilet stoll to dump sperm in everynight. Thats why its so sad black women put up with the same thing today. They call their abusers, lover, boyfriend, pastor, and baby daddy instead of white man.

  • my heart is sick

  • mine too

  • Lena Baker was guilty of murder according to the laws of the state of Georgia as they existed then in 1945. Also under the laws of that time, there was little room for leniency or mitigation -- her punishment was pretty much guaranteed to be death. She admitted killing her employer and that was that.

Under today's legal system, her crime would be considered manslaughter and would be punished with a few years in jail. But we cannot go back and label her as factually innocent, she was not.

  • @nicspic the laws in 1945 were not designed to protect Black people. She was actually sentenced to death for killing a white man. The laws back then were ridiculous! If the laws in Georgia in 1945 were intended for everyone then Lena's RAPIST WOULD'VE BEEN ARRESTED BACK THEN. THE "LAWS" JUST OVERLOOKED THE REASON SHE KILLED HER RAPIST!! LENA BAKER WAS INNOCENT AFTER 60 YRS THEY REALIZED IT WAS SELF DEFENSE. A LITTLE TOO LATE THOUGH TO BE EXONERATED AFTER HER DEATH. RIP LENA BAKER.

  • @nicspic.. as a few have already stated, no one really knows what transpired, no one but the 2 involved. but according to the movie, Lena WAS innocent. she was trying to leave this man's residence & he threatened to shoot her. she & mr. ernest knight wrestled with the gun & it went off.

  • @nicspic Uh fuck yes she was it was self-defense you lard ass which means she defended herself because she was being attacked DUH

  • @nicspic wow!..you speak as if you were there...like you were in her shoes...wow you may be gearing to a point but you really sound cold and heartless...

  • This world is a cruel place. They waited 60 years to pardon her.I know this ate them inside.Just shows you how horrible this world is.

  • @anotherblackman

Don't fret hon. That whole family Fell "sick" and died or got put into a mental institution. They all got "prayed" on. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

  • is this movie out on dvd yet?

  • @stylastar44 --it's on Netflix now

  • very sad

  • and they still killed her!!!

  • They KNEW IN THEIR HEARTS that it was WRONG!!!!

  • Just watched the film, feeling very heartbroken! :(

    R.I.P. Lena Baker!

  • Just recently she was pardoned.

  • I this sooo sad. She was only trying to defend herself

  • Cause she wuz black

  • such ashame, Sorry to ask but i may not know much about this. Why was she put to death all because she was black and was just Framed for a murder? or did she actually commit a murder.

    Ty for the vids btw

  • She was a maid who being sexually harrassed (raped daily ) by her employer, she killed him in self defense, after years of abuse.
