  • Great idea , lot of info and clear details

  • thank you so much patrick. My math teacher is from Kenya so he is sooooo hard to understand, seriously. i guess im just lucky he teaches numbers and hes not my english teacher. Thank you again

  • i sat in class for 3 hours and i didn't get it. I sat in front of a computer and watched this video in about 8 minutes and i feel like a genius.

  • You're a better teacher than my teacher...

  • @FunnyjunkerATV I wonder why every student says that.

  • @patickJMT thank you so much for making these videos, my math teacher takes forever to do what you do in lesst than 10 mins

  • @AustinMichaelHauck no problem, glad i could help : )

  • i have {x=2-2y -1=-2x-3y

  • dude my damn problem is 3x-y=6 the y and x interceppt

  • what the fk is the point of algebra

  • Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What if the equation is something like this ?

    X + Y = 3

  • @oEREBUSz y=3 and x= 3 simple think of the x and y as having a invisable one in front of them.

  • thx u carnegielearning was pissing me off >:I

  • what if the problem is

    x+y=(any number)

    im having trouble graphing that.

  • Ha, at 2:56 the equation was 2x + 4y = 12, the equation on my sheet was 2x - 4y = 8 , and when i saw at 5:58 that the equation was 3x - 2y = 8 i almost fell outa my seat:P So yea...

  • Lefties FTW!!!!! Like if your a lefty.

  • im so thankful buddy

  • Thx

  • if your watching this, you probably have teribble grades and have a TERRIBLE math teacher anf trying to bring your grades up. like me.

  • @A7XoA7XoA7X or you have a not terrible teacher and you just a bit of extra help while out of class

  • @patrickJMT sadly, many math teachers tend to dislike students who don't grasp it easily. I know. I am 51, back to school again. I have been intimidated for years by simple algebra. My high school teachers pronounced me dumb, but actually, i'm fairly smart, I passed English with A's. I just don't grasp these concepts easily. There are a lot of steps, which I don't care for.

  • @A7XoA7XoA7X Agreed. Most math teachers move a little to quickly for most students, but patrickJMT takes his time with the lesson.

  • @A7XoA7XoA7X

im only in year 4 lol

  • RETARTED MATH! I have:

    f(x) = 4x + 3

    WTF MATH!?

  • @LLOORREENNN2 retarted is not a word

  • @patrickJMT LOL

  • @LLOORREENNN2 f(x) = y , it is all the same thing

  • @LLOORREENNN2 it is called function notation

  • @patrickJMT No offense, but how do you have that much time to make so many freakin' vidoes. That's ridiculously awsome!!!

  • what if its an equation like, 3y = 4x + 9?

  • @Isabellaandlife if youre solving for y, then just divide both sides by 3. if solving for x, bring y to the other side, and x to one side, then divide.

  • This helped me so much! Math was kicking my butt and this cleared everything up!

  • @Matty521521 HELL NO THEY AINT!!!

  • заебца!

  • 165k views... Apperantly teachers at schools aren't teaching something properly...

  • @Matty521521 Or maybe students aren't paying attention when they should be.

  • what about Y=2x-1? can you help with that one? My sister is having trouble in 7th grade pre-algebra

  • @PadawanLara 2x is the slope, -1 is the y intercept. turn 2x into a fraction, 2/1 x

  • THIS IS THE ONLY VIDIO ABOUT INTERCEPT THAT MAKES SCENCE!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • exact same examples that are in my textbook lolol - stuff is easy once you get it - the book makes it more complicated then a human/good teacher explaining it. thanks for videos

  • thank yu so much !!!!!!!!

  • What if its x+y=4

  • Thank you so much your saving me from summer school!!

  • why do you divide 3x by 3. D;

  • PLEASE RESPOND, what if it is Y=4-X.

  • @MrTrevorrow YOU DO THE EXACT SAME THING

  • @patrickJMT Can u tell me what is y=3x+4

  • THANK YOU! YOU MADE THIS SO EASY FOR ME!

  • Thank you,I'm in seventh grade and taking Algebra. (hurts mwy bwain)O_o

  • this realy helps :)

  • Thanks man, you just saved my maths assignment.

  • just use the cover-up method. x & y= 0. if you have 2x+4y=12, cover 2x, and solve for y. divide 4 to each side. do the same for x. i love my algebra teacher :D

  • holy fucking shit ballz finally i get this shit after 3 videos your the only one with a different tech. and i love this x0 this way better then dividing by the same number even tho its like the same thing, its more simpler to understand for a highschooler =)

  • what if there is an exponent in the equation you have to graph?

  • wait how can i find the x-intercept when they give you the equation of y=x ?

  • @izzypop3000 you plug in y = 0 and you are done, there is nothing to do in that case cause you get x = 0.

  • @patrickJMT What if you only have two random points? How would you find the x and y intercepts then without drawing the line on.

  • @izzypop3000 i think oyur just gonna add 0 on right side and its gonna be vertical or horizontal or undefined as the teacher say,

  • Thanks! This made graphing much more simpler for me.

  • @jessilu02 glad i could help!

  • Ya but what If it's not linear like

    Y equals x squared minus 4x plus 1

  • @MissKKarls then you watch a video about graph quadratics

  • I see no point

  • @KillYoFam97 lol

  • How do you graph y=-x when x>2

  • Thanks so much!

  • Thanks alot! But what if the equation was y=3x+1 would you still use that method?

    Please reply.

  • @Glowbify you can use whatever method you want. did you try using this method on your example?

  • @patrickJMT

    Thanks for replying!

Yes I did try it but I dont seem to get it becuase the y is in the front.

  • @Glowbify well, you can add or subtract things to put it in the same form, but that is not needed. just plug in x = 0 and solve for y. plug in y=0 and then solve for x.

  • How did 8/3 become 2 2/3 ?

Sorry for my english I'm just an elementary And I'm curious about this thing ALGEBRA.

  • @JosieDevida 3/3= 1 if you have two halfs of one it is equal to one. One half is 1/2 so two halfs is equal to 2/2, if you have two halfs that is one whole. So if you have 8/3 it means you have two wholes and two quarters out of three quarters.2 2/3

  • thanks ! :) THIS HELPED A LOTTTTTTTTTTTTT !!!!!!!!!

  • My cls

  • gooooddddd

  • hahaah

  • Thank you for clearing that up for me :3

  • y=[x] HOW does that differ from y=x

  • Thanks a lot!!!! Even though my first language is Spanish, your explanation was perfect!!!!

I owe you a beer from Peru!!!!!

  • ohhhh....this one pops my head out!!!......the good thing is ..it helped...thanks^_^

  • Thanks man, that really helped :)

  • im in calc 2 and i had to come back for this for a review, i feel like a noob haha

  • i want you to be my best friend.!!! dibs!

  • omg i can miss a month of school and still excel thanks to your awsome videos

  • Awesome teaching ! Thank you... :)

  • Why couldn't you just make 2x+4y=12 into y=-2/3x+3 and just draw it?

  • If both the equation gives you (0,0) and (0,0), then how do you pick another point to graph it?... My math book is really short on directions.

  • Dude, ur awesome. You have videos from the start of algebra all the way to the end of calculus!

  • thanks man

  • I have that in 6th grade :) :(

  • solve*

  • Hi, i need help on my math homework but this wasn't accurate what i was looking for, but at least i found something. Do you happen to have a video to sold problems like these?

    Graph each linear function:

    1. y = x + 3 2. y = 1/4x - 1

  • @R0XAS121 dude just look up slope-intercept form lol. y=mx+b. y= x + 3 has a y-intercept of 3 and the slope is 1/1.

  • shh i was sleepin

  • what about x - y > 0 and all that

  • thanks so much, this has helped me understood what my lecture was trying to teach, you are awsome.

  • thank you soo much it helped alot

  • @patrickJMT i thought if you have fractions the numerator should be the rise and the denominator should be the run? pls answer i have a big exam tomorrow

  • @JoanneRuth13 well, when you write the equation in y = mx + b form, that is correct

  • I have a big exam tomorrow and this totally helped me! I cant believe i was freaking out before, this is so easy =] Just goes to show that a good math teacher is everything

  • I have a big exam tomorrow and this totally helped me!

  • this guy is good

  • oh my god i get it. But what happens if instead you are given x and no Y. Instead of the Y you are given a random letter, like f to be multiplied by the x so it would look like;

    f(x) = 2x - 7

  • Comment removed

  • omg i dont feel stumped for once. Thank you soo much

  • -2Y=8

-2xY=8 (x is the hidden times sign)

-2x-4=8 (according to you, I know negative times negative is positive)

BUT isnt -2x-4 the same as -4+-4 (you have two minus fours, so it should become negative eight? (im sorry if im (probably am) wrong ) could you please explain what i dont know? :)

    cheers!

  • im learning it now at 7th grade

  • @renzak31 im in 5th and learning it

  • thank you :D this helped me understand x and y intercepts better :))

  • expo marker

  • I dont know why I keep going to college and paying them. This guy teaches way better and is free... lol

    Thanks a lot.....

  • @andrescaraudio the revolution will not be televised.

it will be done on the internet.

  • @andrescaraudio cause this is like elemetary school level...

  • @andrescaraudio Dude, I am paying for online college and in one of the lesson packets, it referred me to this video! WTF? But this is a good video though!

  • @andrescaraudio hhahahhaa, u damn right!! I wonder in what college does he teach.

  • you were doing this in the womb huh. you go in side your mom's vagina while you do your math homework? hahaaah. cant live with out your moms help?hah. her stench of her vaginal crease must make you love to brag about it on youtube.

  • Thanks so much! You were a big help.

  • Comment removed

  • This has helped me when I had no where else to go and tutors have me waiting in line! I've referred you to my classmates!

  • what if there isn't a "y" variable? I know essentially there is a "y" but if there is no variable form of it how would you go about doing that? for example: f(x)= -x-8...this is a homework problem of mine and I'm stumped lol so if ANYONE can give me some pointers I would greatly appreciate it! :-)

  • as a maths tutor, I found this a great method for plotting graphs in the form ax+by=c without rearranging to y=mx+c, so thanks!

  • what the cock is this supposed to mean!? shit makes no sense.

  • dam i get it and im in 8th

  • Ohh and Please post more

  • Lifesaver!!!! Thnx. U saved my behind.

  • Comment removed

  • oh my Buddha! after this my friends won't call me stupid again >O<

  • @RocketCRO too late buddy. . .

  • @YOMAMAXXL pleeeeease, i was doing that as an egg

  • thx really needed help wit that:)

  • Left handed yesss!!!!!

  • Thanks again dude!

  • Dude, no lie, you just became my new math teacher.

  • o.o you just saved my life :) ...(home test) thankuu :)

  • what if you have something like..., h(x) = x - 4

  • wat if u have somthing lik x+y=-2?

  • thank you

  • IS this mr. luque?

  • aww ur married xD

  • @musicisme4eva to an angel from the heavens

  • @patrickJMT awww hope you stay together forever

  • @patrickJMT thanks my nigga lol

  • @musicisme4eva how do you know that?

  • thanks is very helpful. you explain quick and clear

  • Thanks dude you helped heepsss. My math teacher cant teach as well as you.. Thank you again..

  • omg thank you so much for helping me im doing my homework atm and thanks to you i get it :D subbed!

  • we do this stuff in 6th grade :P

  • @YOMAMAXXL i was doing it in 3rd grade

  • @patrickJMT yeah.... i started doing thi is 2nd. im talking about doing it the hard way.

  • @YOMAMAXXL oh the hard way. i was doing that in the womb.

  • @patrickJMT o really? ha! i was doing th very hard way when i as still a sperm>:)

  • @YOMAMAXXL Actually, scientifically speaking you are never a sperm, you an egg that is fertilized by a sperm.

  • @benjamin2197 no shit sherlock. i was trying to win the conversation XD

  • @YOMAMAXXL Still, its just scientifically incorrect, thus, less funny. It's hard for me to laugh at a comeback when it's so fail.

  • @YOMAMAXXL u must be from the north cuz im in the 7th grade and we haven't learned it yet

  • @Tahsin1998 ты реально? yes im from the north.

  • @YOMAMAXXL i learned this crap in grade 10 and now in grade 11

  • @Elgalacticos9 wow tenth grade? wow!

  • @YOMAMAXXL ya, so last year i learned it, im in canada so the curriculum is different

  • @Elgalacticos9 i live in russia (but i was born in california)

  • how do you do a problem like y=3x + 9

  • so you should always use 0 to substitute for x and y to find intercepet??

  • @myramaebarba yes

  • this was so helpful...actually i became so engrossed on how you teach math so easy (compared to my moron teacher) that i watch your videos before examinations..and i was really satisfied with my scores.thank you so much! =)

  • Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

  • This was so helpful!!! Thank you so much!

  • what school do you teach at...?

  • @BanjoBearN64 i don't teach at any school.

  • thank youu so muchhh!!

  • True that sexybeast.

  • thanks this helped out lots

  • the only thing i dont understand is the one where you have to find out the point of intersection.

    For example:

    2x-3y = 6, y= 2x-2

how would you know where to find the point how to do it faster on a test.

  • what!!it seems so simple and easy.....the way you showed it, my teacher cant really put it out like this cause he talks to much....i finally got this down now ..Thank you sir =)

  • Thank you SO much! =D
