Whether or not Maiden is a modern metal bands influence is irrelevent. The reality..if ANYTHING...is that Maiden doesn't get the credit they deserve! No..they were not the originators of metal..like Black Sabbath, Led Zep or Cream. They were part of the "second wave" of metal bands...along with Judas Priest and Motorhead. But Maiden...unlike ANY of the other bands i just mentioned...can STILL sell out stadiums all over the world! Many modern bands don't like older bands cause they were SKILLED!

Agreed. However, Maiden was only 1 part of a whole shit load of awesome bands. Each one had influence however, which is good because there is more to choose from. I'd say you'd be wasting your time on that guy who said "-Slipknot,..." because most of their fans are just posers. Not trying to start anything, just saying. Metallica is good and although Disturbed isn't exactly "Metal" I like them too. Disturbed has a class of their own, they say "Alternative Metal" but I just say "good music"
