the serpent stne was the second stone i discovered when i was lvl 5 it was easy 2 kill cos i had good armour and weapons

guys u can also go to the bards college in solitude,go upstairs and take the first right and search the bookcase for an explorer's guide to skyrim,it'll save u some time trying to find the shadow,love and ritual stones,hope this helps-like so ppl can see ;)

@irishgeek4 Dragon Plate is the strongest LIGHT armour, added with enchantments its powerful. Also, the Daedric is heavy takes up more storage points, and you loose agility. IMHO...

I found a book which reveals all guardian stones locations on the map. It's in whiterun, in dragonsreach. When you face the throne of Jarl balgruuf there's a wall behind that. There is a room behind that wall with all kinds of maps with little flags placed on top (In one of the first missions in the main quest, the one where you have to slay your first dragon, you get instructions in this room.) the book is in one of the cupboards against the wall.

But once you find them you can fast travel there if you change your mind.

@kingbring11 Only one stone can be active at a time. For example if you choose the Warrior stone in the beginning that is the only stone that will be active. But say you find another stone in the game and you use it. Your warrior stone will be removed and you'll have to use the one you found. So choose wisely of what stone you want...
