this is really good but I'd just like to make one comment, at the beginning you were playing the top strings.... you're not supposed to do that, those are meant to be sympathetic strings (trust me, i'm an indian)
@MrOscarMurphy It's a model of "Guitar" Rogue produced, It is basicly a Sitar, But in a simplified shape, The thing NATURALLY sounds like that, The crappy thing though is Rogue discontinued this model.
This is great you learn something new every day i did not know that there was an Electric Sitar, I grew up with the classic version of the Sitar, Kudos to the player.
I guess you don't really play an electric sitar like you would a sitar. But you don't play it like a guitar either. Maybe one can approach it like a "middle eastern banjo"?
i'm damn tired about people instantly associating the sitar with getting high and that's it, same with bob marley. also props to the musician here, nice blend of style and skill.
@ineedanewtubeaccount lol but sitar music and bob marley is 700 times better when high. its incredible when not high also, but when ur high it literally surrounds you and it kinda feels like you are IN the music, its totally wierd to explain, but thats as best as i can. i also found that the song 'hummer' by smashing pumpkins is one of the best things to listen to high also. totally engulfs you in the music
thers a song called fields of sound by motherjane.... listen to the solo in this song.....the classical effects which the lead guitarist has played is awesome....tell me how to play this on guitar.....plz coz even my guitar teacher is not able to help me...
I used to have a Jerry Jones version of this instrument. After seeing this, I wish I would've known to try tuning it like that instead of guitar tuning. With it tuned like you have it, the other strings ring out more. Wow, thank you for sharing this.
hey dude im tryin to play classical on my guitar but its too hard....i mean the classical effects are too difficult to play on guitar,......plz help me out
Wow! Both you and this "creature" are truly amazing! I've been looking for a southpaw model on line, for my kids band -- wondering first how they might sound -- and now I'm sold! Thanks for the post!
Well I listened to Philby and as much as I love Rory Gallagher, he's got nothing on this guy. He plays it like the real thing. I just wish he'd make a 15 minute piece and slowiy build to the conclusion, instead of giving just a "greatest riffs" version in 2:13. Wonderful sound, wonderful playing. you just know what to do. Do some more, please.
i'm selling the exact same thing for £350, just an MD model istead of ROGUE. if your interested post a comment on this video, as i am considering weather of not to put this on ebay.
With Open C, use one of the following for "Indian-Style" tuning of the sympathetic strings. (Use the 4th and 5th octaves or else any higher you will break some of them!)
C B C D E F G A B C D E F
B C G D E F G A B C D E F
G A B C D E F G A B C D E
BUT if you tune the Sitar to standard guitar tuning, the sympathetic strings are supposed to be tuned as follows, longest to shortest string:
Certainly looks a lot easier to master than a traditional one. All you got to do is learn to tune the drone strings and you can tune the 6 strings the same as a guitar. While you use the note strings, you just pluck the rest for the droning effect.
There is a Variation on the sitar that is tuned 1-5 steps below an average sitar. It would be cool if someone could make a electric version \m/(*_*)\m/
wow. what a crappy excuse for a sitar. it sounds nowhere near as good as the real thing. this is just a crappy version intended to sell to people who don't want to learn the real way of playing a sitar and instead want an easy way out.
