Don't know time or channel this was aired, -or if it ever was aired here in NYC. (possibly syndicated) But I went to see an episode of this version in '94 in person in the studio audience during 1 of my L.A. visits. It was filmed at CBS Television City. 7800 Beverly Blvd 90036. - Same as TPIR , MG, etc. I tried to get to go see tpir, but it was hopeless. The experience was just not the same. Loud school kids screaming at anything. Couldn't hear Richard. Couldn't see new digitized video board.
@fxcamera1 It did indeed air in NYC, the second half hour was at 4:30pm on WWOR-TV soon-to-be UPN 9 at 4:30pm following Doug Davidson's Price is Right. And the survey board was actually superimposed on TV, it wasn't really there. They actually used the fast money board to reveal the answers.
We all have to remember, Dawson couldn't put his lips near any of the women, make totally off the cuff comments, and executive decisions. I wonder if Richard had acted back then like he was today, would he still be at the helm of that show even today
I'm glad I finally get to see Dawson's return to the Feud. Needless to say, he's not what he once was, but he can still chime in with a clever quip and have fun with the families on occasion just like the old days. Oh and from what Dawson said at the top of the episode, this apparently was the Ex-Husbands first win of the week, and it was a nice one to boot!
Initially. Initially it received great ratings. But after a while the ratings began to decline again (I'm guessing that's the reason for so many special weeks). O.J. was the major cause, but many other things also led to it.
I would assume that the ratings went up at first because of Richard's returning. But when people realized he wasn't the same Richard they knew, ratings fell again.

This version recieved great ratings! It got cancelled after a year due to the O.J. trial (this was the only thing on TV!).

Kyle's "Family Feud" Page states that on the first episode (Redd vs. De Leon), ratings had "never been higher."

Funny... in this episode he doesn't seem all that different... maybe he lost it later... huh. That's unfortunate. I love the guy, personally...

Dawson filmed a pilot for You Bet Your Life at the same time Ray Combs first took over the 'Feud

Though the weird color coded Feud, a great comeback by Richard, though lasted 1 year

Man poor Richard really let himself go! But I suspect he didn't think he'd be back hosting this show ever...

That true - Mark Goodson didnt want him near that show and after Goodson passed thats when they brought him back
alderete422 5 years ago
LOL, there's so much behind the scenes drama with game shows. Was it true that Howard Felsher and Dawson didn't get along?
smpage09 5 years ago 4
Oh, yes, that was true. Dawson even threw him off the set once.
