OMG!!!!!!!! This is the first I have heard this song "unplugged"! I cannot find the words to describe the ways Gilmour amazes me! Absolutely unbelievable!
I tried to take my life 3 years or so ago over a man!! He couldn't reciprocate my love and after staying with him through physical and mental abuse and him lying about being married, he told me one day he didn't love me..... I'd been ill and he told me he had an alternative number he could get sex... I was at an all time low. Luckily I worked with great people at the time and they saved my life.... This song will always be very poignant to me and still brings a tear to my eye. xxx
to get the best tone from a TAYLOR you dont need a heavy pick... Taylors are known for dynamic sound with out a heavy right hand, note the sound change when he went to electric and lightened up.. totally different guitar..not necessary to hammer a Taylor... that is what made the guitar number one for the money. Dont get me wrong I am not trying to tell Gilmor how to play ...but I do know Taylor guitars...
The man Is a Musical Maestro of Perfection in Music. There is no other who has produced so many widely acclaimed and proudly recieved melodys as this man. He is the voice of Pink floyd.
How would I get through this breakup without this song? Just outstanding. As somebody else below said, it just calms the mind when before it felt as if you're head would explode from sadness and frustration and longing. Superb.
Some years ago, I made a tryp with my dad in a hard period of his life. We went trough the coast in my jeep, and I remember us one afternoon, with the sun showing at the end of a long road, and us listening to this song full volume. He hold my hand and I new he loved me. ;-) Thanks for uploading this song...
i am 50 yrs. old now, and for the last 30+ years Pink Floyd have been a major love of my musical life.
i have been lucky enough to see them live several
times but without the well known bust-ups between Roger Waters (god),cannot sing but brilliant lyricist and David Gimour on guitar (another god) - how much more could these genius' have achieved.
big thumbs up to Nick Mason, and god bless R.I.P. Rick Wright.
Just thoguht i would let you know, yeah the song is by pink floyd, but i have the dvd of this, it is actually just Gilmour, and the drummer from pink floyd
@DestinySkylark I am not sure what Pink Floyd you are referring to but the drummer for the Pink Floyd I know (from waaaaaaay back in the day) is, of course, Nick Mason. And the drummer here (whom you call Pink Floyd's drummer) is, of course, NOT Nick Mason! Ya might want to check that there dvd jacket that you claim to have. I'm just sayin'................
this is god on the guitar!!!

Great version of the song. I almost like it better than the studio version. The choir lends a certain special flavor to the song.

does he play electric guitar on playback or what? how does he get this kind of sound on acoustic-electric?
lpavletinet 3 years ago
No there's no cheating, that's the the sound he gets from an acoustic.

Yeah, this is a super old comment, but since it's on top, I feel obliged to mention that said drummer's name is Nick Mason.
