One couldn't expect him to pull off a "Dost Dost Na Raha" with the same rage and agony the way Mukesh did. With that, Mukesh could never pull off a "Khilona Jaankar" the way Rafi did. Facts are facts and there's nothing one can do about them!
like you said facts are facts thers nothing you can do abt the FACT tht Rafi saab was and always will be unmatched, n thts not my personal opnion, its the opinion of the whole of the bollywood film industry n thts why he was awarded singer of the millenium years after he passed away. btw heres som food for thought, have you ever thought why all music directors constantly used the voice of Rafi saab?? have you compared numbers? how many did mukesh sing compared to Rafi saab??
A clever answer to your question would be: Have you heard of the notion "quality over quantity"?; it's not "how many" numbers you sing, rather "how well" you sing them. Notoriety of an artist shouldn't ever be compared with their talent. Don't forget that there were others more talented who never got the chance to demonstrate their skills to the rest of the world. A perfect example of this takes into consideration my second favorite male playback singer, who happens to be Shailendra Singh.
yes quality comes first and Rafi saab was all quality that is why he was picked over all the playbacks all the time, i mean obviously no one held a gun to shankar jaikishen, LP,OP,Ravi, Naushad an all the other music directors heads to force them to take Rafi saab, the facts speak for themselves and no singer came close to RAfi saab
who else but him could sing a songs like 'o duniya ke raakhwaaley and madhuban mei radhika nachegi' to comedy songs like this one!
If Raj Kapoor admired Rafi more, he wouldn't give 98% of his songs for Mukesh to render. I've read countless articles on Kapoor and in all of them they mentioned how Mukesh was #1 to him and Rafi second. Not my own words; I'm saying as I've read them.
i know raj kapoor used mukesh all the time but even he asked Rafi saab to sing songs he knew mukesh would botch up, thts why i called him mukesh's no 1 fan..lol, infact if it wasnt for raj kapoor , mukesh wouldnt had much of a career, because he sang in his films 90% of the time
mukesh voice really suited rajkapoor, because they both had a slow style whereas shammi kapoor on the other hand, only wanted Rafi sahab in ALL OF HIS FILMS, and his songs and films were much more popular than raj's.
Does he have many fans? No (I have never met anybody else who considers him a favorite or likes him as much as I do). STILL, this doesn't translate into him being a bad singer. Let's not forget that had it not been for him, "Bobby" wouldn't have its essence and "flavor" that people 'till this day remember it as. He was only 19/20 when he recorded the songs.
well each to their own, really i have no problem with your personal choice..lol as for me , half a song of Rafi's equates mukesh's whole career, but thts me (n abt the whole of bollywood too..lol)
As for shailendra, he never made it because he wasnt good enough , you cant even blame Rafi saabs popularity because he was taking a break from singing during those years! lolz!
These so-called "Bollywood" people also put Amitabh Bachchan's acting over about two million other actors who were, as even vision-less people could tell, FAR BETTER AND TALENTED than him. Then again, the best are always overlooked, so no need to going there:) I guess if one person says that a certain someone is "decent", then a whole population of people start believing so, themselves, without even having a clue of this person's whereabouts or talents.
i believe Amitabh's acting is excellent, so who in your opinion is better...hang on i know, its raj kapoor...lolzz no surprises there then. and no one is tht stupid to follow what one person says, you shud give alot more credit to ppl, its insulting to say ppl who dnt share ur very narrow views are 'visionless', thts jus being very petty. Mind you truth is a bitter pill to swallow especially if it doesnt suit your own personal views!
For your very kind information, Raj Kapoor is not my favorite actor; he's my favorite director (no surprise there!), but not my favorite actor. My favorite actor is Dharmendra, with Rishi being second, though if you want to go acting-wise, Rishi is the man to follow. Amitabh only had one and ONLY one image: "The angry young man", who, as a surprise to you (I'm sure), was given to Sunil Dutt WAY before Amitabh was EVEN born. Salim-Javed's own, li'l creation!
ok this is a debate for another day im not really bothered abt Actors but if u do anna know my views, Dilip saab was the best followed by amitabh who is so much more versatile than Rishi who cud only play the love sick romantic!!whereas amitabh played every role under the sun well and with ease, as for dharmendra he was in a league of his own
hey we seemed to hav agreed on one thing..dharmendra...lol!!
on tht note i will hav to agree to disagree strongly i might add..lolz
Like I mentioned before, "We all have our own favorites and theres nothing others can do about them." Nice chatting with you, though, despite the many differences in our choices. Who would ever think that it would all come down to Dharam? :)
Amitabh NEVER played every role "under the sun". Angry young man...don't forget. No romantic hero, broken-hearted lover nor a comic ("Rafoo Chakkar" ring a bell?) ;)
one more thing amitabhwas brilliant at comedy, romance and action, he did all those in his films whereas rishi was jus hoping around trees most of the time chasing a girl! try and watch films like khuddar, silsilay (which ws all abt broken hearts)ek nazar and more recently the highly acclaimed black! you seriously think rishi could've played the role amitabh played in black??
Rafisaabsfan, while you're mentioning the "hopping around" of Rishi's career, you're not even taking the time to mention his other works. Sure Amitabh is making "Black", but the same Amitabh is also busy playing an amateur Gabbar Singh in "Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag" (uhm, hello, werent you once fighting the same Gabbar Singh in one of your films? Now you want to be him? Talk about a split personality!) Plus, I've seen most of his work so I'm confident in everything that I comment on.
oh dear your tooo funny and i know i said i wasnt going to answer or discuss with u anymore but this last statement made me laugh too much n i jus had to answer!
Dear child, wht u said abt amitabh, its called 'acting'...lolzzzzzzzz. Are u seriously saying actors shud not be versatile?????? damnnn your funnyyyy...lolzzzzz!!!!
Newsflash: Versatility needs to make sense, too! Nearing 70 and he's taking on the roles of teenagers. Wow...Amitabh! Bachchan-ism has gotten to his head.
Trust me, I know my share of Indian Cinema pretty well, so I'm not just talking crap.
Those who say Amitabh is versatile are talking nothing but just a bunch of smack! Besides his classics (such as "Sholay", "Deewar", etc.), he wouldn't even be able to carry out a single line of dialogue in a romantic film. It's like, "Sure, I know you can kick butt in a film, but is that the only thing you can do? Is this where it ends for you?". Dilip, to me, is far better, though, not one of my favorites.
Last time I checked a 19-year-old wasn't considered a "kid" but if that's what you were called in your country, then I have no problems with it:) Remember, age has nothing to do with your knowledge. FYI: I was born in Armenia and moved to the States when I was twelve (seven years ago). I started watching Hindi films at the age of five. It's been fourteen years, and having been an ardent and dedicated fan of the industry, that's how I know so much about it.
my dear compared to an oldie like me, your a mere baby...lol so dnt be insulted, jus enjoy it!!
i asked because its not often you come acrss a young person like yourself who actually watches old films and listens to old music , thts why i found it odd, didnt mean to offend you.
No, I'm not insulted a bit; in fact, Im quite honored:) Like I said, I get that a lot since, as you said, not all youngins are into the older-generation actors and actresses. I grew up watching them, that's why I never moved to the Shah Rukhs or Hrithiks, even as a young adult.
Want to be surprised over it? Go ahead, I'm not stopping you. I know, I get that every day. At least one person who didn't become a bum in her life ;)
Rafisaabsfan, we can go on all day with this "Mukesh/Rafi" talk. There's a reason why certain people are our favorites and others aren't and true fans will stick to their favorites until the very last day, the same way we both are. It would be useless for me to claim that you are a huge Rafi fan cause anyone who can read would have the common sense to know that you are and I respect your passion towards him.
HOWEVER, I have to comment on one of your statements when you compared Shammi's success with Raj's (even as far as songs go): Are you only taking into consideration the Indian population when you're saying this or the entire world? It seems that youre executing the former because I come from the East myself (Armenia) and have to tell you that Raj (& his songs) were THE MOST NOTORIOUS Indian actor in not only my country, but also in other Eeastern/European countries, such as Russia, Germany, ...
i've only heard of him being popular in russia for some weird reason but shammi's films and Rafi saab's songs were and still are mega hits in asia, america, uk and Africa aswell as the middle east so again facts speak for themselves.
People went nuts over him! You can't actually be serious by comparing both brothers' successes. It's obvious that Raj always won. One "Awaara" is worth five of "Junglee" and I'm saying this even as a big Shammi fan.
again tht ur personal opinion , in my opinion half a junglee is worth all of raj kapoor's films, to me raj kapoor was extremely boring, he wasnt at all popular with the younger generation, and always copied charlie chaplin for sum reason..lol, however he was a brilliant director, but i thought he was a useless actor. The best actor of all time was dilip kumar, now thts wht u call an actor, he played tragedy and comedy with equal ease and was a pleasure to watch but i dnt wanna argu again..lol!
Considering the population of Russia, Raj's popularity there would be JUST ENOUGH, but if you want to go into the statistics of the game, Raj was popular in all of the East (specifically):) In fact, he was THE most known Indian actor, with Mithun being the second (now, again, ONLY facts!). Who ever had any clue that a Dilip Kumar existed? Those who stuck to the classics started their "entrance" into Indian Cinema with Raj & ended with him. Period!
Again thts your own personal opinion, if like you say mukesh and raj kapoor were the only things going for bollywood, WHY DIDNT THEY GET THE TONS OF FILMS THE OTHERS DID??????? Why werent their 'exceptional skills' in acting and singing utilised????? After all its all abt money and why would the industry's big name producers and music directors overlook these 2 so called (in ur opinion) amazing actor and singer and risk losing money??????
well elvis was and is a legend of rock so whts wrong with tht?? He's an icon and has billions of fans to this day!! lolzz so its acool comparison better thn trying to be sad old charlie chaplin!! lolzzzz
Nothing wrong with that at all, just playing your game and bringing up another name that an actor was inspired from/often times copied, just as you did. Sure Elvis was a huge name, but did you ever question yourself as to how he got that fame? Think about that for a sec. :)
it seems like your the one playng games, u cant seem to rember whether ur an armenian or american..lol, im jus having a light debate, no games!! but whoeve u are, you dnt need me to tell you why elvis was and still is an icon!! i know why he was so hugely famous or maybe in ur opinion he wasnt just because you dnt like him...right?? lolzzzzzzzzzz
Here we have an a person from the U.K. commenting on an AMERICAN artist? Go figure:) I wouldn't even waste an ounce of my breath explaining to you why Elvis didn't deserve 98% of his fame. I'm sure you know how to read and can look that up yourself when you ever get the time from turning your ear away from Rafi ;)
now tht is a very uneducated and backward thing to say!! what has my location got to do with anything???? foolish comment!!
As for Elvis, your in th very very tiny minority so im not going to waste time arguuing with someone whos opinions dnt really count for anything, and someone who makes backward rude remarks doesnt deserve any more time or attention from me!!!
btw I CANT NEVER STOP LISTENING TO RAFI SAHAB, UR DAMNN RIGHT THERE!!!LOLZ and its alot better than listening to mukesh droning on!
I knew I would once hit a nerve there! Hahaha, truth hurts, I know. What can I do? My final word is for you to pick up a book on Elvis. As a matter of fact, just watch a documentary on him and you'll find out.
i've watched countless documentaries and i havent come across any where anyone says he didnt 'deserve' his sucess, but since you seem to be a authority in ur own lil mind , on these subjects, maybe you could name just one book or documentary which was negative abt elvis, id really like to watch it or read these so called books?? im not being sarcastic btw, im quite serious.
one more thing disagrreing doesnt mean you've 'hit any nerve',because if it meant tht then i've hit loads of ur nerves!lol
Rafi has contributed immensely to the Indian Cinema, and evidently, his contributions have always been noted and greatly admired. Also, as to what you said with "...it's Rafi sahab's voice that made all songs from this era into hits: let's be a bit generous and non-biased by putting our favorites aside and crediting the other singers, as well. We also had Hemant Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Mahendra Kapoor, Manna Dey, Talat Mehmood, etc. who were excellent on their own rights.
i never said there wernt any other singers but it seemed tht all the music directors of tht era only saw and heard Rafi sahab, he was wayy too humble and even turned down films so tht singers like mahendra kapoor could get a look in. mahendra kapoor himself said in an interview that Rafi sahab was his inspiration and he came into playback singing because of him. its true that all the singers of tht time had qualities but none of them had all the qualities and versatile style of Rafi saab.
Good One

They have copied the style of the song "Hum Kaale Hain to Kya Hua Dil Wale Hain" from Gumnaam (music SJ) in both the music and choreography.
LP have done an admirable job here, though the results are not really comparable with the SJ classic.

Notoriety of an artist shouldn't ever be compared with their talent. Don't forget that there were others more talented who never got the chance to demonstrate their skills to the rest of the world. A perfect example of this takes into consideration my second favorite male playback singer, who happens to be Shailendra Singh.
UsherRed 3 years ago
yes quality comes first and Rafi saab was all quality that is why he was picked over all the playbacks all the time, i mean obviously no one held a gun to shankar jaikishen, LP,OP,Ravi, Naushad an all the other music directors heads to force them to take Rafi saab, the facts speak for themselves and no singer came close to RAfi saab
who else but him could sing a songs like 'o duniya ke raakhwaaley and madhuban mei radhika nachegi' to comedy songs like this one!
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
If Raj Kapoor admired Rafi more, he wouldn't give 98% of his songs for Mukesh to render. I've read countless articles on Kapoor and in all of them they mentioned how Mukesh was #1 to him and Rafi second. Not my own words; I'm saying as I've read them.
UsherRed 3 years ago
i know raj kapoor used mukesh all the time but even he asked Rafi saab to sing songs he knew mukesh would botch up, thts why i called him mukesh's no 1 fan..lol, infact if it wasnt for raj kapoor , mukesh wouldnt had much of a career, because he sang in his films 90% of the time
mukesh voice really suited rajkapoor, because they both had a slow style whereas shammi kapoor on the other hand, only wanted Rafi sahab in ALL OF HIS FILMS, and his songs and films were much more popular than raj's.
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Does he have many fans? No (I have never met anybody else who considers him a favorite or likes him as much as I do). STILL, this doesn't translate into him being a bad singer. Let's not forget that had it not been for him, "Bobby" wouldn't have its essence and "flavor" that people 'till this day remember it as. He was only 19/20 when he recorded the songs.
UsherRed 3 years ago
well each to their own, really i have no problem with your personal choice..lol as for me , half a song of Rafi's equates mukesh's whole career, but thts me (n abt the whole of bollywood too..lol)

UsherRed 3 years ago
i believe Amitabh's acting is excellent, so who in your opinion is better...hang on i know, its raj kapoor...lolzz no surprises there then. and no one is tht stupid to follow what one person says, you shud give alot more credit to ppl, its insulting to say ppl who dnt share ur very narrow views are 'visionless', thts jus being very petty. Mind you truth is a bitter pill to swallow especially if it doesnt suit your own personal views!
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
For your very kind information, Raj Kapoor is not my favorite actor; he's my favorite director (no surprise there!), but not my favorite actor. My favorite actor is Dharmendra, with Rishi being second, though if you want to go acting-wise, Rishi is the man to follow. Amitabh only had one and ONLY one image: "The angry young man", who, as a surprise to you (I'm sure), was given to Sunil Dutt WAY before Amitabh was EVEN born. Salim-Javed's own, li'l creation!
UsherRed 3 years ago
ok this is a debate for another day im not really bothered abt Actors but if u do anna know my views, Dilip saab was the best followed by amitabh who is so much more versatile than Rishi who cud only play the love sick romantic!!whereas amitabh played every role under the sun well and with ease, as for dharmendra he was in a league of his own
hey we seemed to hav agreed on one thing..dharmendra...lol!!
on tht note i will hav to agree to disagree strongly i might add..lolz
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Like I mentioned before, "We all have our own favorites and theres nothing others can do about them." Nice chatting with you, though, despite the many differences in our choices. Who would ever think that it would all come down to Dharam? :)
Amitabh NEVER played every role "under the sun". Angry young man...don't forget. No romantic hero, broken-hearted lover nor a comic ("Rafoo Chakkar" ring a bell?) ;)
UsherRed 3 years ago
lol@dharam
one more thing amitabhwas brilliant at comedy, romance and action, he did all those in his films whereas rishi was jus hoping around trees most of the time chasing a girl! try and watch films like khuddar, silsilay (which ws all abt broken hearts)ek nazar and more recently the highly acclaimed black! you seriously think rishi could've played the role amitabh played in black??
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Rafisaabsfan, while you're mentioning the "hopping around" of Rishi's career, you're not even taking the time to mention his other works. Sure Amitabh is making "Black", but the same Amitabh is also busy playing an amateur Gabbar Singh in "Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag" (uhm, hello, werent you once fighting the same Gabbar Singh in one of your films? Now you want to be him? Talk about a split personality!) Plus, I've seen most of his work so I'm confident in everything that I comment on.
UsherRed 3 years ago
oh dear your tooo funny and i know i said i wasnt going to answer or discuss with u anymore but this last statement made me laugh too much n i jus had to answer!
Dear child, wht u said abt amitabh, its called 'acting'...lolzzzzzzzz. Are u seriously saying actors shud not be versatile?????? damnnn your funnyyyy...lolzzzzz!!!!
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Newsflash: Versatility needs to make sense, too! Nearing 70 and he's taking on the roles of teenagers. Wow...Amitabh! Bachchan-ism has gotten to his head.
How about that for a joke!?
UsherRed 3 years ago
its called a 'F I L M', its 'F I C T I O N',so who cares wht he does...lolzzz at least he's still getting films whereas poor rishi nothing nada zero!!
FYI i actually happen to be a fan of Rishi but still dnt think he's better than amitabh!
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Trust me, I know my share of Indian Cinema pretty well, so I'm not just talking crap.
Those who say Amitabh is versatile are talking nothing but just a bunch of smack! Besides his classics (such as "Sholay", "Deewar", etc.), he wouldn't even be able to carry out a single line of dialogue in a romantic film. It's like, "Sure, I know you can kick butt in a film, but is that the only thing you can do? Is this where it ends for you?". Dilip, to me, is far better, though, not one of my favorites.
UsherRed 3 years ago
it says on ur profile ur 19 yr old kid from usa, u sure u know abt cinema?? or u sure ur 19 yr old?? from usa? or armenia?? which is it??
i see someone is telling porkies!!!
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Last time I checked a 19-year-old wasn't considered a "kid" but if that's what you were called in your country, then I have no problems with it:) Remember, age has nothing to do with your knowledge. FYI: I was born in Armenia and moved to the States when I was twelve (seven years ago). I started watching Hindi films at the age of five. It's been fourteen years, and having been an ardent and dedicated fan of the industry, that's how I know so much about it.
UsherRed 3 years ago
my dear compared to an oldie like me, your a mere baby...lol so dnt be insulted, jus enjoy it!!
i asked because its not often you come acrss a young person like yourself who actually watches old films and listens to old music , thts why i found it odd, didnt mean to offend you.
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
No, I'm not insulted a bit; in fact, Im quite honored:) Like I said, I get that a lot since, as you said, not all youngins are into the older-generation actors and actresses. I grew up watching them, that's why I never moved to the Shah Rukhs or Hrithiks, even as a young adult.
UsherRed 3 years ago
Want to be surprised over it? Go ahead, I'm not stopping you. I know, I get that every day. At least one person who didn't become a bum in her life ;)
UsherRed 3 years ago
Comes with the territory! Not fair but what can one do? It's called life:)
UsherRed 3 years ago
Mukesh did certainly sing less than Rafi, but let me not hit a nerve when I say that one of his songs equaled to 10 of Rafi's for me:)
UsherRed 3 years ago
Rafisaabsfan, we can go on all day with this "Mukesh/Rafi" talk. There's a reason why certain people are our favorites and others aren't and true fans will stick to their favorites until the very last day, the same way we both are. It would be useless for me to claim that you are a huge Rafi fan cause anyone who can read would have the common sense to know that you are and I respect your passion towards him.
UsherRed 3 years ago
HOWEVER, I have to comment on one of your statements when you compared Shammi's success with Raj's (even as far as songs go): Are you only taking into consideration the Indian population when you're saying this or the entire world? It seems that youre executing the former because I come from the East myself (Armenia) and have to tell you that Raj (& his songs) were THE MOST NOTORIOUS Indian actor in not only my country, but also in other Eeastern/European countries, such as Russia, Germany, ...
UsherRed 3 years ago
i've only heard of him being popular in russia for some weird reason but shammi's films and Rafi saab's songs were and still are mega hits in asia, america, uk and Africa aswell as the middle east so again facts speak for themselves.
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
People went nuts over him! You can't actually be serious by comparing both brothers' successes. It's obvious that Raj always won. One "Awaara" is worth five of "Junglee" and I'm saying this even as a big Shammi fan.
UsherRed 3 years ago
again tht ur personal opinion , in my opinion half a junglee is worth all of raj kapoor's films, to me raj kapoor was extremely boring, he wasnt at all popular with the younger generation, and always copied charlie chaplin for sum reason..lol, however he was a brilliant director, but i thought he was a useless actor. The best actor of all time was dilip kumar, now thts wht u call an actor, he played tragedy and comedy with equal ease and was a pleasure to watch but i dnt wanna argu again..lol!
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Considering the population of Russia, Raj's popularity there would be JUST ENOUGH, but if you want to go into the statistics of the game, Raj was popular in all of the East (specifically):) In fact, he was THE most known Indian actor, with Mithun being the second (now, again, ONLY facts!). Who ever had any clue that a Dilip Kumar existed? Those who stuck to the classics started their "entrance" into Indian Cinema with Raj & ended with him. Period!
UsherRed 3 years ago
Again thts your own personal opinion, if like you say mukesh and raj kapoor were the only things going for bollywood, WHY DIDNT THEY GET THE TONS OF FILMS THE OTHERS DID??????? Why werent their 'exceptional skills' in acting and singing utilised????? After all its all abt money and why would the industry's big name producers and music directors overlook these 2 so called (in ur opinion) amazing actor and singer and risk losing money??????
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Don't forget that it was the Indian audience, itself, that called Shammi "The Indian Elvis Presley", though I'd like to think otherwise:)
UsherRed 3 years ago
well elvis was and is a legend of rock so whts wrong with tht?? He's an icon and has billions of fans to this day!! lolzz so its acool comparison better thn trying to be sad old charlie chaplin!! lolzzzz
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Nothing wrong with that at all, just playing your game and bringing up another name that an actor was inspired from/often times copied, just as you did. Sure Elvis was a huge name, but did you ever question yourself as to how he got that fame? Think about that for a sec. :)
UsherRed 3 years ago
it seems like your the one playng games, u cant seem to rember whether ur an armenian or american..lol, im jus having a light debate, no games!! but whoeve u are, you dnt need me to tell you why elvis was and still is an icon!! i know why he was so hugely famous or maybe in ur opinion he wasnt just because you dnt like him...right?? lolzzzzzzzzzz
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Here we have an a person from the U.K. commenting on an AMERICAN artist? Go figure:) I wouldn't even waste an ounce of my breath explaining to you why Elvis didn't deserve 98% of his fame. I'm sure you know how to read and can look that up yourself when you ever get the time from turning your ear away from Rafi ;)
UsherRed 3 years ago
now tht is a very uneducated and backward thing to say!! what has my location got to do with anything???? foolish comment!!
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
I knew I would once hit a nerve there! Hahaha, truth hurts, I know. What can I do? My final word is for you to pick up a book on Elvis. As a matter of fact, just watch a documentary on him and you'll find out.
Thats all I got to say. Have a nice life!
UsherRed 3 years ago
i've watched countless documentaries and i havent come across any where anyone says he didnt 'deserve' his sucess, but since you seem to be a authority in ur own lil mind , on these subjects, maybe you could name just one book or documentary which was negative abt elvis, id really like to watch it or read these so called books?? im not being sarcastic btw, im quite serious.
one more thing disagrreing doesnt mean you've 'hit any nerve',because if it meant tht then i've hit loads of ur nerves!lol
Rafisaabsfan 3 years ago
Rafi has contributed immensely to the Indian Cinema, and evidently, his contributions have always been noted and greatly admired. Also, as to what you said with "...it's Rafi sahab's voice that made all songs from this era into hits: let's be a bit generous and non-biased by putting our favorites aside and crediting the other singers, as well. We also had Hemant Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Mahendra Kapoor, Manna Dey, Talat Mehmood, etc. who were excellent on their own rights.
Armine
UsherRed 3 years ago
i never said there wernt any other singers but it seemed tht all the music directors of tht era only saw and heard Rafi sahab, he was wayy too humble and even turned down films so tht singers like mahendra kapoor could get a look in. mahendra kapoor himself said in an interview that Rafi sahab was his inspiration and he came into playback singing because of him. its true that all the singers of tht time had qualities but none of them had all the qualities and versatile style of Rafi saab.
