Porsche C2s mk 1 is just about equal with the R8, new pdk 385 c4s smashes R8 in everyway apart from the looks. I suppose with the 911 you can get passengers in the back, be it small people. I still couldnt justify spending 90k on an Audi, bit like 85 for an M6. For this type of money you want a thoroughbred.

yeah the audi is a bit cheaper but AUDI didn´t took the V10 from the Lamborghini LP560 they took the V10 from the S8 and made some changes on it....

the V10 in the r8 has 525 HP and the Lambo (as LP560 already says) 560 HP...

if AUDI would have taken the engine from the lambo, the audi would have the same power but it hasn´t...

IT IS the same engine, not the same settings, it is dumb to put a high rev engine in a audi 8, so the torque band is more linear but there is less HP.

I also own an R8.  White R-Tronic and I totally agree. This car is all bark and no bite. For $135K (which is what I paid back in May) it should be near 997turbo performance at least. Handling is awesome but no balls. Trading it in for something new next week.

No torque, bonanza R-Drive gearbox.

And at lower revs - in town that is - a sound like a Brabus Smart. Very very disappointing car. The 4.2.

0-60 in 4.5 seconds is not slow neither is 180+ top speed. It might not seem like a lot because you could buy a subaru with 300 horses out of the box these days. Steve Millen put an R8 around willow springs 2 tenths of a second quicker than a Z06. 420 Horsepower might not seem like a lot but it's more than enough to get the job done. When it has a V10 next year it'll be even better. The R8 is a car that does everything well (will also out corner 911's all day long)

Strictly in terms of performance, R8 and a C2S or C4S goes the same, concerning the handling, R8 is easier but is not much efficient than a C4S, the C2S is more funny to drive, with the X51, either a C2S or a C4S are 30hp more so R8 is slowest, and for the test in Best Motoring, they were playing, not really racing. A gt3 is so much quicker than the R8...

The problem with the R8 is, that it isn't a light car and the Qauttro AWD system slows it down in higher speeds. The 911 is about 200 kilos lighter and it's just RWD. That's why it won this race so hard.

this is just funny, i do have an audi r8 and i used to have a carrera 4s before. i can tell you the r8 is faster. and i have raised agaist the m3 e92 and i was also faster. either the r8 they used for this raise is really bad or they are just not aible to drive.m6 might be little faster but not this much. beside that, r8 is the best looking car ever made. its not like a 6ers serie with 4 exhaust. people driving r8 know what i m talking about
