I've been more of Yamaha KX5 fan due to the popularization by Chick Corea, and also because it has aftertouch, which none of the Roland remote MIDI controllers has; nonetheless, the AX1 is interesting. There's one on eBay now supposedly new in a box in red color. Makes me think about it.

@jovanify When I was a kid, I tried carrying my keyboard with a strap and play it at the same time. THAT is what I call retarded. Keytar? That'd be the opposite. The idea of a "Keytar" is to be able to play a keyboard and stand and/or move around at the same time, like playing a guitar. One of the many reasons why I love the guitar is because I don't need to sit in a chair to play it. Keytar would definitely allow me to do this for the keyboard.

The trick isn't so much playing the keyboard...it now becomes learning how to manipulate the pitch bender and the modulator.

Great solo, good chops and clearly many hours of practice behind. I do a lot of solo playing myself (not with a strap-on controller though), but I prefer not to use samled guitar sounds. As a keyboardist I will never be able to comptete with a guitarist, it´s rather pointless I think being the instruments so different. So I prefer using more analog monosynth sounds for my leads, it sounds as good and works better for me

First off, nice video and some good chops! I've had an AX-7 and Motif for about 5 years now, bt never really got to use the AX-7 much. I'm currently working with a mostly rock band and will be covering 2nd guitar parts on it so I get to brush the dust off.

To the guy below, midi events are transmittable wirelessly. I have a wireless midi transmitter I have used with the AX-7. Also, keytar is no more pointless than strapping a guitar on. Guitarists can just as easily sit down and play.

It's good to learn on both instruments, lot of 80s rockband started with paino or keyboard like van halen for instance. Then he became a famous guitar player. When you learn keyboard and put your mind to it you could learn about any instrument, you have to committed to it.

You could say that, but the Keytar is a based Synth engine that you can move around the stage with, that's the overall idea even so It looks like a guitar its never gona accomplish what the guitar can do but the keytar can produce things the guitar cant do, as a keyboard and guitar player I would rather use both instruments for different purposes but still the keytar fookin rocks some sounds like no other!
