For everyone wondering why they chose a New Zealander for the 'Australian' Steakhouse.... the chain was formed in Florida. By using a NZ'er they highlight the IRONY of the situation.
My family and I just got back from eating at Outback in Live Oak, Texas. It was the worst dining experience ever. They told us a 40 minute wait which turned into an hour wait. The ran out of baked potatoes. The steak was horrible. Finally the waiter spilled a plate full of food on one of my guests. DON’T EAT AT OUTBACK!!!
i dont get i can tell the differnce beetween auzy and kiwi accect i guese its cus i am from engerland and the kiwi accent sounds more like an english accecent that an auzy's
Because the rest of the world can't tell the difference between us, like how the rest of the world can't tell the difference between West Coast Americans and Canadians.
hes not an australian, the restaurant is not australian but i think he id it because the money wasn't australian. a mans gotta eat whether it be steak or chicken.
yeah i fucking know. i thought it was kind of obvious seeing as of how my comment was a joke. i was also kind of saying for the other people who don't get it.
Nooo...why would he say on the barbie? I thought he HATED Australians! In fact, why is he doing a series of commercials in support of a notoriously Australian company?
no it doesnt really sound that different to a kiwi. The joke is obviously that he isnt australian and is trying to sound australian, that doesnt mean he is taking the piss out of it.
You're right, the basics of the accents are pretty much the same. But sorry lad, he's still taking the piss. If you watch the other commercials it definitely confirms it.
so basically if you were a company and you were pretending to be, oh let's say Australian (just picking a name out of a hat), you'd really care about what you were pretending to be... instead of how much money you make.
uhhh so? The point is only stupid americans would fall for such a pathetic attempt at being Australian.
Some of the stuff on the site just makes me lol hard...its ridiculous how stereotypical it is, its just lame but then again, americans wouldn't know the difference.
Look i hate my fellow Americans just as much, but outback isn't trying to fool anyone. their point is to be stereotypical. People can tell the difference, it's just a fun little theme. Granted there ARE those ultimate retards that couldn't tell the difference but they are few... and need to be removed from society, but you can't say that just because outback uses a theme that they mean it to be serious and people fall for it.
I guess you have a point. I cant help but feel a little annoyed about it anyway, (even though I love their food) since I am Australian. I understand what your saying but It doesn't feel right when an American company uses an Australian theme and claims that certain items are Australian themed when really the whole thing is just a little bit iffy.
I mean apart from a few boomerangs on the walls and what not, theres really not that many Australian items on the menu. Still, you have a fair point
yes american culture really likes to take other ideas and americanize them in a way. like taco bell for instance. tastes nothing like actual mexican food but we call it mexican food

@17rL9110 Oh, yeah, because they are totally different. Aussies are like "where's the car?" and Kiwis are like "Where's the car?"
