Richard Roeper is my favorite critic. And that's exactly what he is: a critic. He reviews EVERY movie the same way. He's not gonna review this as a turn-your-brain off and have fun at the theaters movie. He reviews it as a normal movie, like everything else. Just because there are action sequences and a big budget, we have to accept that it's a bad movie? Just because it's a fun movie doesn't mean it has to be bad. Look at Iron Man or Spiderman.
What would you expect from an action flick? Certainly not character development. Quick cuts? Yes. This is light, switch your brain off entertainment at its best, catered for fans of the original series. It isn't a piss take (eg. Starsky & Hutch) rather a glowing tribute to the original show and captures the fun loving comaraderie of the characters completely. Is it the best action movie of 2010? No. Is it the most fun? Absolutely! Carnahan's plan works, and I love it when a plan comes together!

Richard Roeper is my favorite critic. And that's exactly what he is: a critic. He reviews EVERY movie the same way. He's not gonna review this as a turn-your-brain off and have fun at the theaters movie. He reviews it as a normal movie, like everything else. Just because there are action sequences and a big budget, we have to accept that it's a bad movie? Just because it's a fun movie doesn't mean it has to be bad. Look at Iron Man or Spiderman.

What would you expect from an action flick? Certainly not character development. Quick cuts? Yes. This is light, switch your brain off entertainment at its best, catered for fans of the original series. It isn't a piss take (eg. Starsky & Hutch) rather a glowing tribute to the original show and captures the fun loving comaraderie of the characters completely. Is it the best action movie of 2010? No. Is it the most fun? Absolutely! Carnahan's plan works, and I love it when a plan comes together!

Rubbish review. Great film. Its reviewers like this that make me wonder why they chose a profession where they have to watch movies, they never seem to like anything. really the point was- we already know these characters. mostly it was a two hour episode that we could have watched in the eighties if we'd had the technology back then. I personally enjoyed revisiting my favorite character (murdock) and i watched the movie for the pure enjoyment of one-liners and explosions. don't be looking for deeper meaning. there is none.

@prst99 If you know so much about good action, tell me why frenetic cuts and random camera sweeps make action better, as opposed to longer shots that make choreography easier to follow? Do me a favor. Rent "Children of Men". I dare you to watch that and then and tell me the action sequences would have been better if it was rapidly cut.
