Prince for me is the most consistent of the two in terms of quality of music, but man oh man, Michael Jackson hit the highest highs and the lowest lows like no one else.

I think music is subjective like any art and everyone has different tastes. I never really found MJ's music appealing to me, it seamed too mainstream for my taste more appealing to the masses. Prince though, musically was more experimental rather than 'safe', he took risks and sometimes those risks didnt pay off...but I remember a review of Sign o the Times...saying that the album was a patchy affair, but oh, some of those patches!
MJ can play music instruments,but not sure about the standard. He wrote hundreds of songs, such as Billie Jean, Don't Stop till You Get Enough, Bad etc. His vocal is perfect, his dance moves are mesmerizing. He involved in choreography, song-writing, MV idea, production, instruments, and so on. He is also a poet,painter, philantropist and businessman. MJ is simply a genius, and the most important thing is he is very diligent. Though he is famous but I always think he has been underrated.

Both are incredibly respected And I love them both. But in terms of talent, I think Prince wins it by a hair. While MJ was more popular and sold more, Prince's songwriting beats MJ's. Then there's the big one: Prince is an incredible multi-instrumentalist. Especially live. I've never seen MJ play anything.

I hate that we as fans still feel the need to argue over who's better. Although Prince and MJ are clearly different both men almost mirror one another. The strange thing about both of them is this seedy contradiction they created for the world to examine and dissect. Who's better at this compared to who's better at that they're both very competitive went it came to who's number 1. However, I do respect the King of Pop. michael always wanted to collaborate with Prince, since the very early 80's, and Prince always denied. Prince sold out the O2 arena 21 nights straight and never played the same song twice. Michael envied that and died trying to play the same venue. Michael was good and no one can take that away. However, Prince is a musical god who does not use drugs, Much like the ones that killed MJ.
@629rave Keep in mind that Michael Jackson played 8 sold out concerts in a row at WEMBLEY STADIUM in his Bad tour. The record before him was 3 sold out concerts. @WhDemiJackson Quincy Jones composed Thriller and other producers produced MJ. You don't even know what you're talking about. You need to read and learn about Prince and with MJ, it's the same thing over and over in his performance. If I want to watch a dancer, I'd watch Fred A'staire. If I want to watch a true all round performer who turns the place out with instruments, vocal range, splits, and awesome songs. Prince is the master.
@Isityou2011 - Actually, MJ played several instruments and produced the sound for some of the songs in his early albums and most of the songs in his later albums. For instruments he couldn't play he dictated every beat, riff and layer of much of his songs (often through beatboxing) to someone who could. Prince indeed a more talented instrumentalist but MJ was no slouch.

The civil trial was a separate trial that the father settled with MJ's insurer. Evan Chandler settled it when MJ refused to retract pictures of his genitals that were going to be shown to the jury; 3) The criminal case was dismissed by 2 grand juries due to a complete lack of evidence

@mrcheereo - And possibly at least one of the female workers in his household. There are stories from some female employees of MJ flirting with them and making suggestive comments to them. According to the court files MJ seemed to have an unnamed girlfriend from France at some point, her name was withheld in the trial since she wasn't a celebrity. MJ seemed to be fond of having deeper relationships with women who weren't famous or not very famous.

I think music is subjective like any art and everyone has different tastes. I never really found MJ's music appealing to me, it seamed too mainstream for my taste more appealing to the masses. Prince though, musically was more experimental rather than 'safe', he took risks and sometimes those risks didnt pay off...but I remember a review of Sign o the Times...saying that the album was a patchy affair, but oh, some of those patches!

He wrote hundreds of songs, such as Billie Jean, Don't Stop till You Get Enough, Bad etc. His vocal is perfect, his dance moves are mesmerizing. He involved in choreography, song-writing, MV idea, production, instruments, and so on. He is also a poet,painter, philantropist and businessman. You need to read and learn about Prince and with MJ, it's the same thing over and over in his performance. If I want to watch a dancer, I'd watch Fred A'staire. If I want to watch a true all round performer who turns the place out with instruments, vocal range, splits, and awesome songs. Prince is the master.

@Isityou2011 - Actually, MJ played several instruments and produced the sound for some of the songs in his early albums and most of the songs in his later albums. For instruments he couldn't play he dictated every beat, riff and layer of much of his songs (often through beatboxing) to someone who could. Prince indeed a more talented instrumentalist but MJ was no slouch.
Learn something about MJ before dissing him. BTW Fred Astaire thought MJ was a better dancer than himself.

First of all, QJ DID NOT compose Thriller, in fact he wanted to take off Billie Jean from the record which is ranked as the best pop song ever, and def the best from the 80's. The civil trial was a separate trial that the father settled with MJ's insurer. Comparison SUCKS ASS big time because it requires that we either deny or DOWNGRADE the actual MERITS of another person. Although MJ was more commerical than Prince I prefer than latter because of personal preference, not because MJ is more talented because his not. Any such comments are only personal OPPINION.
