  • i prefer serial lipo charging. its the way bantam recomends for multi lipo charging.

  • so what series do i run the 2 2s packs in

  • Very well presented.

  • Have you ever reviewed an RC Monster Truck called the 1/8 Scale Mad Beast EP made by Exceed RC, i can sure use sum info on upgrade's for that paticular truck, having Differential Problem's ??? I would sure appreciate sum help if your familiar with that paticular Monster Truck ...

  • Very Good Info, i might give that method a try, cause it'z becoming a hassle waiting on these Lipo Pack'z to charge, one by one !!! Very Good Info, keep up the good work ...

  • Very informative video, i might have to try that method, cause it sure is a hassle waiting on these Lipo Pack's to charge, one at a time, VERY GOOD INFO !!!

  • I just bought the "onyx 245 dual charger.",I am trying to charge two "traxxas 7.4v 5800mah lipos.. But the onyx only says 5.0mah would it charge my batteries all the way?

  • I just bought the "onyx 245 dual charger." I am trying to chzrg

  • i have been doing this for a wile now , need a good high end charger that can pump 20amps and a PSU of 400watts 18 volt for icharger 206b. lipos need to be same voltage level if not , you just plug the balance plugs in only the lipo cells balance them self out ,i let them self balance for 10 min before starting charge .just to be safe ,

  • Can you do it with nimh packs?

  • What brand of batteries are those??? and Would you recommend them

  • is AC current better than DC? cause mine does both

  • you can do it with NIMH packs. Correct

  • Question: I've got a Hyperion EOS0615i Duo3 charger and four Turnigy 4S 2200mAh batteries. What this video didn't explain is what to enter for battery capacity (perhaps you don't need to enter this on the iCharger). The Hyperion asks for cell count, capacity, and charging amps. I know I should put 4S and 8.8 Amps for a 1C charge rate but do I put 2200mAh or 8800mAh for capacity? I'm guessing it's 8800 but want to be certain.

  • can i do this with nimh batteries? i cant afford lipos yet so dont ask why i dont use them x)

  • Work this too with a graupner ultramat 8?nice channel!greetings from luxenbourg (europe)

  • will this work on nickel metal hydryed batteries

  • What are the green lipos

  • @EggJLMW

  • I would just buy another charger or be safe and one at a time

  • I know you have to use the balance plug for charging lipos but do u have to use the other plug(deans)

  • very useful vid

  • Hey man, what kind of charger do I need in order to charge like that? Or in other words, would you mind telling me what charger that was in the video used, or tell me it's specifications? Thanks big time!

  • Greetings from Singapore.

Hey man, this was a very good tutorial! Thanks for sharing! Very good explanation! This is going to my favorites for me to refer to.

  • Thanks for the vids. BIG HELP ha

  • also, if i parallel charge and one of my balance wire is broken or becomes loose, what will happen?

  • Thanks for the video! I have a few questions. 1) i'll be using 2s nano-tech batteries rated at 8c charge. i'll be getting the procell 6, max of 40amp charge which is around 7.5C for one single 2s. Can i charge 40amp in parallel as well? I'm sure that'll cut down the charge C rating as the charger can only do 40A, but I am just curious.

  • where do u buy the that parallel charger port

  • @henrychau202 we have a lot of people over in our forum, its free, and you can get the answers for free in our forum at rcnightmareDOTcom/forum

  • very nice job man!!

  • what packs do you use

  • what brand is better for lipos turnagy or zippy

  • @jondoporcyk turnagy

  • Can u give me to the link to where to get the the parallel board

  • What batteries are those

  • Hi there just wanted to know if I was to charge mine in parallel I use 2s 30c 5300mah x2 so if I was to charge them in parallel would it still balance charge the individual 4 sells as I balance charge them all the time to keep the life on them

  • Excellent video, thanks.

  • rcnightmare. how much did your ORANGE hummer rock crawler COST?! ? the one thats hanging off the shelf.....

  • @zombieslayer671 that is the traxxas summit it runs around 500-600

  • @Theslayervxl really glad to hear!

  • Very informative and well thought out video.

I have one of these charge boards and it's great, but the only thing you did not discuss which isn't clear even from the instruction sheet for the board is where you are supposed to plug in the balance lead. When you connected the 3S batteries you seemed to plug the balance leads in on the same side of the board but the instruction sheet shows that you need to plug the leads in opposite sides. Does it not matter where you plug in the balance lead?

  • @Scratch2k1 No it does not matter. "paraboard" stands for parallel board. This means that all the deans and all the balance leads are in parallel which also means they are all hooked up together and it does not matter in what order or arrangement you plug them in. As long as all the batteries are the same voltage...plug away!

  • I have been charged my 2s batteries in series. No problems at all?

So now i'm bit confused. O.o

  • @Turoz96 No problems because your doing it right! The danger is that there is a higher probability of plugging in your main discharge leads and balance leads in the wrong order shorting out your packs. Series charging does not have the added benefit of self balancing and low IR. Depending on your application, however, that may not matter to you.

  • @rcflightschool

Okay. When i got my Charger and balancerboard. I pluged main leads wrong. Then i heard "poks". BUT i checked both batterys, and they was fine, no damages.

I always plug first balancing leads, then main leads and then start Charging. And it's work good. :)

That's a my way to do this.

  • @sk84lifethorney2 any time

  • @sk84lifethorney2 any time sucker

  • it's called 2s2p battery

  • @biggdaddy2001 to what battery are you referring?

  • @rcflightschool any battery that is 3 cells and is considered 2 cell pack

  • @biggdaddy2001 I think you mean any battery that has 4 cells with a 2s voltage rating. 2 cells in parallel and 2 groups of those parallelled cells in series.

  • Comment removed

  • what power supply are you using for 20 amps?!?!?

  • @RCcrAzY1234 a pretty don mega.....otherwise protek

  • @sk84lifethorney2 No you want to set your charger at lipo balance charge and plug your lipo into the balance board. You dont have to balance charge one cell lipos. Balancing lipos is making sure each cell has the same amount of voltage to increase battery life and decrease the chance of fire

that what you said your a retard i was talking to rcnightmare

  • can i charge nimh batteries like that? if my charger is 7amps and 9950mah of capacity of charging, can i do it?

  • @slash4x4lipo parallel charging nimh is not recommended.

  • @BSRCer why?

  • @slash4x4lipo NIMH chargers look for a 'peak' voltage to terminate at. When you parallel NIMH cells the charger cannot see the individual cells and therefore it can miss the 'peak' which will either over charge the cells damaging them or undercharge them. There are chargers and cells (NIMH) out there made for parallel, but 99% of R/C chargers on the market are not designed for this. Simply put, this method is for LIPO's only!

  • One of the easiest tutorials ive ever watched, your really comfortable being in front of a camera! Awesome stuff..!

Now to order a balance board like that. :)

  • @TAKTEZ thanks so much for the kind words, hope we earned your subscription and spread the word! :)

  • nice review! of battery chargers. now I understand how it works

  • @krankillen thank you so much!

  • Hi Brain, I think you only need to plug in the balancing plugs if you are opting for Balance Charge and not the normal charge. Speaking of balance charge, i am actually not sure if the charger will be able to see each cell individually. At the most, i think the paraboard parallels the individual cells in the packs. for e.g.: Pack A, Cell 1 is connected in parallel with Pack B - Cell 1 through the balancing ports. So I think its better to balance charge the packs individually. What do you think?

  • @nabilgravityoxygen You should always always always balance charge lipos. Not doing so is increasing your chance of lipo fire tenfold! You are correct. When parallel charging cell 1 from pack A,B,and C become "one cell" and so on with cell 2 from A,B,C,etc... The benefit lipo is that the paralleled cells stabilize eachother. It is smart to charge individually if you have reason to suspect a damaged pack.

  • @nabilgravityoxygen I made an adapter so my charger see my 2 2S batteries as a single 4S battery, and can balance all 4 cells.

When parallel charging like in this video, as soon as you connect the batteries in parallel they all balance to each instantaneously, since each cell is on the same node as the other corresponding cells. So all of the cell 1s in each pack will balance to each other, all the cell 2s will match, etc. Then the charger can balance them as a single battery.

  • @nabilgravityoxygen This is why it is important they all be a similar charge level. If you connected a fully charged battery and a depleted battery at the same time, the full one will short through the low on, flash charging it as fast as the chemistry allows. This is dangerous, since the potential difference may push too much current through the battery, or out of the full battery. If they don't fail (vent, puff, burn), in the end you'll have 2 batteries that both half charged.

  • @brainanator you said it. Although it is amazing how far we can push the newest gen cells.

  • I am still waiting for a REVIEW! of THAT! CHARGER!

  • @xxgg what charger? We did all the reviews this weekend for the chargers...the powerlab is scheduled for this week.

  • Verry nice idea. Great if you are charging the night before a race. Although I would still prefure to peak em on a single charger to ensure they are at optimum voltage and mah before I run my Heats and Mains. :)

  • @GnomeraganExile Great point. I find myself charging single packs at higher C rates more often than paralleling. As said, it allows logs to be kept of individual packs.

  • @GnomeraganExile right on! thanks for the kind words

  • Can u do nimh?

  • @matthewdiscovery1 Yes the same rules apply for NiMH cells. However, the voltage (cell count) must be the same and the capacities must be the same as well. Hook up + to + and - to - and it essentially becomes 1 batter with double the capacity (or triple, quadruple... ect.)

  • @36trooper It's not recommended to parallel charge NIMH.

  • @matthewdiscovery1 It is not recommended to parallel charge NIMH.

  • thnks!

  • how are you supposed to cram that into a lipo safe bag? I really dont see a fire happening unless you are charging at a higher rating than the battery. 5ah 5amps. Some people will charge that 5ah pack at 15amps. Forgot the term but people do it and I think it is a bad idea.

  • @nerdyrcdriver to be totally honest, lipo fires happen all the time...safe or not, better to always be safe.

  • @nerdyrcdriver Buy two bags! You are referring to charging at a rate higher than 1C. I have been doing that for years with my Thunderpower packs (up to 12C) with no problems, among others. Its easier, however, to keep an eye on your battery like your suppose to when it's charging in 5minutes =o.

  • Could you charge a 2s2p 7.4v 5000mah lipo with a 2s1p 7.4v 5000mah lipo together even though one has 4cells, and does it matter with companys even though its the same specs

  • @MegaRallycar Absolutely. That would make a 2s3p 10Ah pack.

  • Wow, i just charged my first lipo today and it just so happens to be the same packs you just charged in parallel! :) Would you mind posting me the link to the website, or websites where i can get one of these boards? Ohh, and i have a racers edge 2010 surecharge system. Would i be able to do this parallel charging with it? Thanx in advance for your help! keep up the good work.

  • @niceNcrispy83 no problem, I will have to ask Brandon..but will

  • @niceNcrispy83 epbuddyDOTcom. That system can parallel charge but it will be limited by its timer or AH counter.

  • @rcflightschool Thanx for the info :) i just bought an scx10 honcho because of yalls run vids with it and currently just have one lipo. As soon as i get another ill get one of those boards too. Ohh btw, that rooster crawler esc that you put on the honcho, where is a good place to buy that at? I really don't want to run my lipo without a voltage cutoff.

  • who much did the 2s packs cost you?

  • @ExtremeRC1 don't remember

  • 5000 mAh = 5 amps ... thank you metric system for being so simple :)

  • I series charge lipos with my custom made adapter. And yes, i balance them too as a 4S. :)

  • @brainanator right on...thats coming up..

  • @brainanator Yes it can be done. The number of packs you can do at once is limited by your chargers max output voltage. You also have to take care to connect main and balance leads in order. Not quite the plug-and-play functionality of the paraboard but it does come in handy when checking single cell IR.

  • Wow thanks for the help I learned a lot. Also what is better deans or xt60???

  • @Zainiak matter of prefrence to me...I like deans

  • @rcnightmare seemed pretty simple to me. but i have a good understanding of DC power. im to cheap to buy that good of a charger to do that lol nice video again guys.

  • good vid man

  • @dawgRC thank you much

  • @rcnightmare if i only charge 1 lipo at a time (regular charge) do i have to plug the balance lid if so why? what is it for???

  • i am the 0th veiwer
