the original xbox has XBE Executers and the xbox 360 has XEX files

so in order to play original xbox games on a xbox 360 you need the backwards compatibility update .

the game profile update from xbox live.

and if you play a backup , you even need ixtreme firmware.

so how are you possible gonna play a xbox 360 game on a original xbox.

without doing some grazy hardware bios chip modding and software from the disk hacking???

you forget you can also burn iso files onto dvds and your xbox will read them (if its modded) , or you can rent games, rip them, turn into an iso , and burn the disk image (thus keeping games you rent , forever)..emulators are cool too . and xbox media center

My xbox I'm afraid to announce is the disk tray broke. i was playing metal gear solid on my tray and my xbox broke off readying the disk. i think it might be the firmware or the HDD but I'm not sure. but i just got a PlayStation 3 the other day. that was working fine till the red rings of death showed. i was mad because it costed me bucks for that system. I think my PS3 had a disk read error saying the memory falled open. so i tried restoring the mac address but the ps3 didn't respond to the mic

you're going to need a desktop computer.

if the 300GB IDE is in your laptop then yes , you will need a desktop computer.. but i wasnt aware laptops really used IDE unless its an old one. they generally use SATA. xboxs really only work with IDE.. if its laptop size you can probably still use it for an xbox.. just be a bit more complicated

All i did was drill a hole in the controller, added a switch, used a hot glue gun, soldered the wires, and put it together. you also have to modify a wire inside of the Xbox to make it power on from the controller.
