I don't think Rooney dived, when you look at all dives on the ground, every single player doesn't go down symmetrically, try dropping symmetrically whilst running, its almost impossible. Rooney was already going down symmetrically which looks to me like he was more off balance than anything. I've been told that replays say his foot was caught in the turf but I have to look again. He oversells it, but clearly he wins the ball and there's contact. Did he go into this with the intention of campaigning for a penalty? You'd have to ask him (and he might lie).

How can you say the defender jumps into Gerrard, just look how Gerrard has flung himself whilst the defender jumps almost vertically. Gerrard takes out the defender in his jump for the ball, which is fair as he's won the ball. But he realises he has no goalscoring chance so goes down dramatically, thus its a dive.

Well it's clear for all to see in the video, evidently and understandably you don't want to see it.
I don't think Rooney dived, when you look at all dives on the ground, every single player doesn't go down symmetrically, try dropping symmetrically whilst running, its almost impossible. Rooney was already going down symmetrically which looks to me like he was more off balance than anything. I've been told that replays say his foot was caught in the turf but I have to look again. Not a dive IMO.

hmmm..I saw 2 committed players goin for the ball. Gerard gets there first but there's a mid-air collision which causes Gerard to fall & the defender has to kinda pirouette to keep his balance. Hard to tell if it was a dive or not ..... and the ref was SO quick to give a penalty that we don't really know if Gerard would've appealed strongly. Many times the appeal from the player is more damning evidence than the fall.
My conclusion: Crap referee!!! .. .and anonymous linesman !!!

Pause it at 10 seconds, you can quite clearly see him lift his arms slightly as if he's appealing. If he didn't want a penalty, he shouldn't have fell down in the manner he did. Why didn't he get straight up instead of sitting there on his ass? He knew the ref would give him a penalty and Gerrard even admitted after the game that if Atletico had been given one in the same manner, he'd have been livid with it.

what annoys me is everyone knows ronaldo dives, everyone knows drogba dives adn everyone know gerrard dives, the only difference is ronaldo and drogba get their fair share of abuse for it, but is there ever any pictures of gerrard diving in the papers, no!
